    Postdoctoral Scholar, Dermatology
    Fellow in Dermatology

BioAudris Chiang, MD is a Clinical Scholar and Postdoctoral Research Scholar of Dermatology. She received undergraduate degrees in Computer Science and Economics at UC Berkeley, and obtained her medical degree at UC Irvine. She completed dermatology residency training at Stanford in the 2+1 basic science research track. She continues to conduct research in the laboratories of Kavita Sarin, MD PhD and Christina Curtis, PhD, studying the genetics of skin cancers and patients who develop multiple skin cancers. Her clinical interests include general medical dermatology, skin cancer, and atopic dermatitis.

  • Edward Eid

    Edward Eid

    Postdoctoral Scholar, Dermatology

BioEdward Eid, MD is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Dermatology at Stanford University working with Professor Jean Tang.

He received his medical degree from University of Beirut. After graduation, he completed his dermatology residency training at the University of Beirut Medical Center.
His current work focuses on clinical trials for rare genetic disorders of the skin including gene therapy for recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa.

When he is not working, Edward enjoys his spare time reading, jogging, drumming, and going to the gym.

  • Jiyeong Kim

    Jiyeong Kim

    Postdoctoral Scholar, Dermatology

BioDr. Jiyeong Kim is a post-doctoral scholar at the Stanford Center for Digital Health and the Department of Dermatology School of Medicine. Dr. Kim is a computational epidemiologist, harnessing patient-and caregiver-generated health information and data to design patient-centered health interventions, which could be tailored to each patient group for improving patient engagement and better health outcomes.

In her work, Dr. Kim uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing to understand patients' and caregivers' genuine voices of care needs and needed support. As a multidisciplinary epidemiologist, Dr. Kim's work focuses on translational health data science, embracing the intersection of mental health and digital health and expanding to patient-provider communications and health disparities among cancer survivors and caregivers of individuals with chronic conditions (e.g., Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia).

  • Vaishali Mittal

    Vaishali Mittal

    Postdoctoral Scholar, Dermatology

BioVaishali Mittal, MD is a Postdoctoral Clinical Fellow in the Department of Dermatology at Stanford University under the guidance of Dr. Jean Y. Tang.

Her current research is focused on epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a group of rare diseases that cause the skin and mucous membranes to blister easily. She is involved in conducting long-term clinical trials examining the application of an autologous, gene-corrected keratinocyte sheet for the treatment of recessive dystrophic EB (RDEB). In addition, she is currently leading several research projects, including investigation of genotype-phenotype associations in multiple subtypes of EB, creation of an online platform for EB patients/families and investigators to collaborate together on research, and development of an online genetic registry for EB patients using a novel, home-based genetic testing kit.

Vaishali received her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine and completed her internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Brockton Hospital.

  • Sonia Onyeka

    Sonia Onyeka

    Postdoctoral Scholar, Dermatology

BioDr Sonia Onyeka MBBS MRCGP (UK) is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Department of Dermatology at Stanford University under the auspices of Professor Eleni Linos.

She received her medical degree from St. George's University of London and attained a Merit for excellence in Medical Sciences. She completed her internship at the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in central London, achieving commendations for being an exemplary trainee. During this time, she became co-chief resident and received a Merit award for outstanding e-portfolio. Dr Onyeka went on to complete her residency in General Practice (Family Medicine) at the King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in South London and became the South London GP trainee representative for her cohort.

Dr Onyeka discovered her passion for dermatology whilst working as a Family Medicine resident within a multicultural training setting and developed a keen interest in telemedicine as well as the management of dermatological conditions that disproportionately affect skin of color patients and the medically disenfranchised.

Dr Onyeka turned her endeavors to academia, inspired by the knowledge that medical research is a powerful manner with which to advocate for patients on a greater scale, her objective is to harness research to become an impactful stakeholder in the improvement of patient care. Her research focuses on the remote monitoring of dermatological conditions in the older adult and minority populations as well as the application of machine learning within dermatology.

She also enjoys mentoring and teaching students and serves on the leadership committee for the American Academy of Dermatology Geriatric Dermatology Expert Research Group. Dr Onyeka has been nominated for the Stanford Postdoctoral scholars Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Champion Award due to her notable efforts towards creating a more inclusive environment at Stanford. Sonia was also most recently elected as an executive member of the Stanford Black Postdoctoral Association.

In her free time, Dr Onyeka enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants, watching sci-fi movies and playing various sports including badminton, tennis and most recently pickle ball. She delights in the performing arts due to her background as an amateur dancer and actress and enjoys attending plays and music concerts.
