Assoc Scientist-Battery Center, Energy Sciences
BioDr. Zhelong Jiang is an Associate Scientist at SLAC-Stanford Battery Center, Applied Energy Division, SLAC.
He specializes in materials chemistry, with a focus on inorganic materials synthesis and processing, advanced characterization of materials, and materials for battery and other energy-related applications.
His research interests include: (1) the production, processing, and recovery of functional or critical materials using approaches including solid-state, hydro/solvothermal, and electrochemical methods; (2) understand and control chemical processes using in situ, operando, and in-line characterization methods; (3) develop analytical methods to unravel the atomic structure of materials and its correlation with the physical and chemical properties, with a particular focus on X-ray-based methods; (4) materials for battery and energy-related applications, in particular electrodes for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries, solid-state electrolytes, and other emerging battery technology and electrochemical systems; (5) rapid and semi-automated materials prediction and discovery by combining rapid synthesis, in situ characterization, computational materials science, and AI-integration.
