BioMoises Smart began his engineering career at Schlumberger Technology Corporation, a Fortune 500 global leader in energy technology. He held several critical roles for nearly two decades, culminating in his position as Research and Technology Director for the Perforating Group from 2014 to 2020. In this role, he oversaw the group's R&D activities, leading multidisciplinary teams and driving technological innovations that advanced Schlumberger's capabilities in the energy sector.
In February 2021, Moises Smart was recruited to SLAC based on his extensive industry experience and proven leadership in engineering innovation. Since joining, he has been integral to SLAC's senior leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and fostering collaboration across the laboratory and directorates. His unique blend of industry expertise and scientific leadership has strengthened SLAC's engineering foundation, driving forward the laboratory's mission to explore the frontiers of science. -
Edward I. Solomon
Monroe E. Spaght Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Photon Science
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsProf. Solomon's work spans physical-inorganic, bioinorganic, and theoretical-inorganic chemistry, focusing on spectroscopic elucidation of the electronic structure of transition metal complexes and its contribution to reactivity. He has advanced our understanding of metal sites involved in electron transfer, copper sites involved in O2 binding, activation and reduction to water, structure/function correlations over non-heme iron enzymes, and correlation of biological to heterogeneous catalysis.
