BioDr. Michael A. Gisondi is Professor of Emergency Medicine and Assistant Dean for Academic Advising at Stanford School of Medicine. He is a medical education researcher and the Principal of The Precision Education and Assessment Research Lab (The PEARL). Dr. Gisondi a Distinguished Member of the Stanford Medicine Teaching and Mentoring Academy and the recipient of numerous prestigious teaching awards, including the National Faculty Teaching Award of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Hal Jayne Excellence in Education Award of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine recognized him as Alumnus of the Year in 2014.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsWe investigate the mechanisms of human neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, and ALS. We don't limit ourselves to one model system or experimental approach. We start with yeast, perform genetic and chemical screens, and then move to other model systems (e.g. mammalian tissue culture, mouse, fly) and even work with human patient samples (tissue sections, patient-derived cells, including iPS cells) and next generation sequencing approaches.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsOur research is in reproductive endocrinology and reproductive genomics. It focuses on human endometrial biology as it relates to basic biological mechanisms underlying steroid hormone action in this tissue, normal and abnormal placenta-decidua interactions, mechanisms underlying placentation and abnormal fetal growth, endometrial stem cells, and functional genomics for diagnostics and therapeutics of endometrial disorders. We also study mechanisms underlying ovarian follicle steroidogenesis.

Alan M Glaseroff

BioDr. Alan Glaseroff served as the Director of Workforce Transformation in Primary Care at Stanford from the fall of 2015 until mid-June of 2016, where he was responsible for training the teams for Primary Care 2.0, a radical redesign of primary care underway in 2016. He will be joining the faculty at Stanford's Clinical Excellence Research Center this summer, working with Dr. Arnie Milstein to help develop new models of care. He formerly served as Co-Director of Stanford Coordinated Care, a service for patients with complex chronic illness from 2011 to the end of 2015. Dr. Glaseroff, a member of the Innovation Brain Trust for the UniteHERE Health, currently serves as faculty for the Institute of Healthcare Improvement’s “Better Care, Lower Cost” collaborative and served as a a Clinical Advisor to the PBGH “Intensive Outpatient Care Program” CMMI Innovation Grant that completes in June 2015. He served on the NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home Advisory Committee 2009-2010, and the “Let’s Get Healthy California” expert task force in 2012,. Dr. Glaseroff was named the California Family Physician of the Year for 2009.
Dr. Glaseroff’s interests focus on the intersection of the meaning of patient-centered team care, patient activation, and the key role of self-management within the context of chronic conditions.

Theodore L. Glasser

BioTed Glasser’s teaching and research focuses on media practices and performance, with emphasis on questions of press responsibility and accountability. His books include Normative Theories of the Media: Journalism in Democratic Societies, written with Clifford Christians, Denis McQuail, Kaarle Nordenstreng, and Robert White, which in 2010 won the Frank Luther Mott-Kappa Tau Alpha award for best research-based book on journalism/mass communication and was one of three finalists for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s Tankard Book Award; The Idea of Public Journalism, an edited collection of essays, recently translated into Chinese;Custodians of Conscience: Investigative Journalism and Public Virtue, written with James S. Ettema, which won the Society of Professional Journalists’ award for best research on journalism, the Bart Richards Award for Media Criticism, and the Frank Luther Mott-Kappa Tau Alpha award for the best research-based book on journalism/mass communication; Public Opinion and the Communication of Consent, edited with Charles T. Salmon; and Media Freedom and Accountability, edited with Everette E. Dennis and Donald M. Gillmor. His research, commentaries and book reviews have appeared in a variety of publications, including the Journal of Communication, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Critical Studies in Mass Communication, Journalism Studies, Policy Sciences, Journal of American History, Quill, Nieman Reports and The New York Times Book Review.
In 2002-2003 Glasser served as president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. He had earlier served as a vice president and chair of the Mass Communication Division of the International Communication Association. He has held visiting appointments as a Senior Fulbright Scholar at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel; as the Wee Kim Wee Professor of Communication Studies at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; and at the University of Tampere, Finland.
Glasser came to Stanford in 1990 from the University of Minnesota, where he taught in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and served as associate director of the Silha Center for the Study of Media Ethics and Law. He has been affiliated with Stanford’s Modern Thought and Literature Program since 1993. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. -

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsSchizophrenia is one of the major public health problems in American medicine. Treatment is partially efficacious but unsatisfactory. Accordingly, our research focuses on treatment outcome in two areas; finding more effective medications which have less side effects than current medications, and in the effects of combining medication with psychosocial interventions.

Kellen Glinder
Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor, Pediatrics - General Pediatrics
BioDr. Kellen Glinder is a distinguished pediatrician with over two decades of experience in Silicon Valley. He practiced for 17 years at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Pediatric department in Palo Alto where he helped build and implement many of the pediatric electronic medical record tools currently in use throughout Sutter Health. He founded and chaired the PAMF Asthma Committee and the Sutter Childhood Asthma Committee as well as developed a program for pediatric pulmonary function testing and asthma education, including training asthma educators statewide for underfunded clinics in California.
In his role as Pediatric Department Chair at PAMF Palo Alto, he worked closely with Stanford Children's Hospital to coordinate care for our children in our community and facilitate collaboration between PAMF, Sutter, and Stanford Children's Hospital, including representing the community pediatricians on the Medical Executive Committee of Stanford Children's Hospital. His advocacy for children extends to his expertise on the Silicon Valley Advisory Council of Commonsense Media and some of his public speaking roles. He is also the author of "Pause, Cope, and Connect," a book to teaching mindfulness practices to grade school children and has brought his own mindfulness practice to the classroom, teaching courses in the art of medical communication at several institutions, including Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
Dr. Glinder currently sees patients at Maison Medical Group, a small private clinic in Portola Valley, CA.
