Imran Thobani
Postdoctoral Scholar, Ophthalmology
BioDr. Imran Thobani is a postdoctoral scholar in Ophthalmology co-advised by Dan Yamins and Andreas Tolias as part of the Enigma project. He is interested in building large-scale predictive models of the brain that he thinks will be useful for both scientific insights and downstream biomedical applications. He did his PhD at Stanford, where he was trained in both philosophy of neuroscience and computational neuroscience, applying this training to develop better methods for comparing artificial neural network models to the brain.

Emily Thompson
Postdoctoral Scholar, Iberian & Latin American Cultures
BioDr. Emily Fjaellen Thompson is a visual anthropologist working at the intersection of Latin American studies, digital humanities, and collaborative research methods in post-conflict Perú. She earned my PhD in sociocultural anthropology from the University of California, Berkeley, and is currently a Tinker Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Latin American Studies at Stanford University.
Through participatory, multi-modal ethnographic fieldwork, Dr Thompson investigates how occult archives and hidden photographs reveal alternative forms of historical testimony. Her work considers visual materials as sites of resistance, survival, and ongoing negotiations of traumatic pasts.
Dr Thompson's research has been supported by the Fulbright Program, Tinker Foundation, and Modern Endangered Archives Program at the UCLA Library with funding from Arcadia. She has published in academic journals and co-authored the first trilingual Quechua-Spanish-English dictionary in the United States. As an award-winning educator and curator, she is committed to collaborative and feminist practices that bridge academic research with community engagement. -
Colin Alexandr Tidwell
Postdoctoral Scholar, Psychiatry
BioColin A. Tidwell (he/they) is a Clinical Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Tidwell received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arizona and completed his predoctoral clinical internship at the Washington, D.C. Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Clinically, Dr. Tidwell provides evidence-based and identity-affirming care to adults and adolescents. His clinical practice uses an integrative theoretical orientation centered on meeting his patients where they are. He has extensive training in supporting the identity development of sexually and gender diverse individuals as well as in early psychosis intervention. Dr. Tidwell enjoys working with these populations as well as working with patients navigating serious mental illness, trauma, anxiety, and depression.
Dr. Tidwell’s research focuses on the intersection of minoritized stress, daily social interactions, and mental health outcomes among LGBTQ+ populations. Dr. Tidwell has also published in the area of training health service psychologists. He his uses observational ambulatory assessment methodologies, including the Electronically Activated Recorder (EAR), to capture real-world social dynamics and behavior. His scholarship has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and Behavior Research Methods.
