Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI am a theoretical physicist working at the intersection of condensed matter physics and quantum information science. My research explores the many-body aspects of quantum information and novel collective phenomena both in and out of equilibrium using various analytical and numerical methods. A few specific recent interests include quantum error correction, mixed-state topological phases, and numerical and analytical methods based on tensor network formulations.

BioI'm an all-in-one biochemist, cell-culturist, and human-health enthusiast whose interests include therapeutics development, and tools for medical diagnostics.
I strive to maintain a healthy balance of breadth and depth in my areas of expertise, and have a strong affinity to interdisciplinary approaches. My background includes software development within the protein structure prediction module of the Rosetta software suite, design and initial development of cancer therapeutics, and basic research into understanding the mechanistic details of cell-cycle gene regulation.
My current research within the Tobias Lanz Lab aims to understand the role of certain targets of autoimmunity in Multiple Sclerosis and use this understanding to develop therapies and diagnostic aides. -
Samantha Basch

BioSamantha Basch is a Jim Joseph Postdoctoral Fellow in the Stanford Graduate School of Education. Her research examines the cultural practices caregivers enact to promote young children’s learning. She is particularly interested in how communities support children's participation in recurring routines and rituals, including religious rituals. Samantha earned her PhD in Developmental Psychology from UC Santa Cruz in 2025.

Stefan Oliver Bassler

BioStefan is a Bridging Excellence Postdoctoral Fellow in the Petrov lab at Stanford University and in the Aulehla & Steinmetz labs at EMBL (2025-now). He is fascinated by how evolution can be used to probe the genomic plasticity of biological systems. During his PhD with Nassos Typas at EMBL supported by the Joachim Herz Add-on Fellowship, he mapped the Genomic landscape of resistance evolution by performing high-throughput resistance evolution of the genome-wide KO library in E. coli. He discovered that evolvability genes constrain resistance evolution through gene-gene and gene-gene-drug interactions. In his postdoctoral work, he will Assess the inter-kingdom conservation of lifespan variants evolved in yeast.

Postdoctoral Scholar, PsychiatryCurrent Research and Scholarly InterestsIn current research projects, my focus is applying large language models to derive latent speech signatures of depression circuit biotypes. This work aims to identify speech signatures which can deep understanding of brain circuit function and help predict response to interventional treatments, including emerging psychedelic therapies.
