Madelena Ng
Postdoctoral Scholar, Biomedical Ethics
BioDr. Madelena Ng is a Postdoctoral Scholar and NHGRI T32 ELSI Research Fellow at the Laurie J. Girand Center for Biomedical Ethics (GCBE) at Stanford. Dr. Ng is an applied health scientist whose work evaluates the real-world impact of emerging technologies on people and society. Her research has consistently shown that technological solutions alone are insufficient in addressing the shortcomings inherent in the biomedical research ecosystem.
Prior to Dr. Ng's appointment at GCBE, she was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Stanford Division in Computation Medicine leading foundational work in AI ethics, governance, and responsible innovation. She will further her training in ELSI research at the intersection of generative biology, multisector research practices, and regulation. As generative AI continues to advance rapidly, she aims to embed ethics into the core of health AI development, operations, and decision-making. -
Andrew Thai Nguyen
Clinical Scholar, Medicine - Cardiovascular Medicine
Postdoctoral Scholar, Cardiovascular MedicineBioDr. Andrew Nguyen is a Cardiologist and a Clinical Scholar in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology Program. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Stanford University, followed by fellowship training in Cardiovascular Medicine also at Stanford University.
As a non-invasive cardiologist, Dr. Nguyen cares for patients undergoing cancer therapy as well as cancer survivors in the Stanford Health Care Cardio-Oncology Program. He provides evidenced-based cardiovascular care for patients throughout their cancer journey while managing and preventing treatment toxicities. Dr. Nguyen is a physician scientist who is mentored by Dr. Paul Cheng and Dr. Tom Quertermous. His research blends his clinical interest in cardio-oncology with basic science to understand the complex interplay between cancer angiogenesis and ischemic heart disease. He is a recipient of the AHA Postdoctoral Fellowship Award, ACC/Merck Research Fellowship Award, and NIH F32 Award. -
Kopal Nihar
Postdoctoral Scholar, Civil and Environmental Engineering
BioI am a postdoctoral scholar working with Dr. Catherine Gorle, Dr. Sarah Billington and Dr. Rishee Jain. I also did a PhD from Stanford advised by Dr Rishee Jain at Urban Informatics Lab. My research interest lies in understanding data-driven human-building interactions and impact of indoor air quality on occupant behaviour, especially for the purpose of natural cooling.

Postdoctoral Scholar, Earth and Planetary Sciences
BioI study large scale processes of evolution through earth history using the fossil record. In doing so, I make use of computational and phylogenetic approaches along with large datasets. I also lead the History of Life and Biodiversity summer internship through the Stanford Young Investigators program. Aside from fossils, I'm also a big fan of riding my bike and disco music.
