David Danielson

BioDavid T. Danielson became a Precourt energy scholar at Stanford in 2016. With Stuart Macmillan and Joel Moxley, Dave co-teaches the yearlong course "Energy Transformation Collaborative." This project-based course provides a launchpad for the creation and development of transformational energy ventures. Interdisciplinary student teams research, analyze and refine detailed plans for high-impact opportunities in the context of the new energy venture development framework offered in this course.
Since January 2017, Dave has been managing director of Breakthrough Energy Ventures, a $1 billion fund focused on fighting climate change by investing in clean energy innovation.
From 2012 to 2016, Dave was assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy. There, he directed the U.S. government’s innovation strategy in the areas of sustainable transportation, renewable power, energy efficiency and clean-energy manufacturing, investing about $2 billion annually into American clean-energy innovation. He is considered a global expert in the development of next generation clean-energy technologies and the creation of new R&D and organizational models for high-impact clean energy innovation.
Prior to being appointed by President Obama as assistant secretary, Dave was the first hire at DOE’s Advanced Research Projects Agency– Energy (ARPA-E), a funding agency that focuses on the development of high-risk, high-reward clean-energy technologies. Prior to his government service, he was a clean-energy venture capitalist and, as a PhD student at MIT, was the founder and president of the MIT Energy Club. -

Bee has been with Stanford for more than 20 years. She started working for Department of Urology, then moved to Department of Medicine as a Residency Coordinator. In 2004, she ventured to Department of Pediatrics to run the Fellowship Program. After working for School of Medicine, she decided to join the other side of the campus in the Department of Theater and Performance Studies and explore her creative side. Bee loves to dance and listen to different kinds of music (except for heavy metal). When she is off from work, she loves to watch various concerts around the Bay Area. Ana De Almeida Amaral

Staff, Stanford Storytelling ProjectBioAna De Almeida Amaral (she/her) is an award-winning journalist, audio producer, and storyteller from San Diego, California. She's long been passionate about using storytelling as a liberatory tool to document the experiences of queer and Latino communities. Ana graduated from Stanford with a B.A. in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity.
Ana produced KQED’s first Latino culture podcast, Hyphenación, and has worked telling stories about the US-Mexico borderlands on Cruzando Líneas. As a journalist, Ana has reported on the oldest lesbian bar in San Francisco, the history of queer policing in the Bay Area, and on state violence in Chile.
Ana is a Senior Producer at the Stanford Storytelling Project where she oversees production of the State of the Human podcast. She also trains and supports students building audio production and storytelling skills. -
Walter De Brouwer

BioWalter A. De Brouwer, Ph.D., is an Adjunct Professor at the Stanford School of Medicine. As a core faculty member at CERC DICE, he is the course director for “Innovation in Healthcare: from idea to incorporation,” which includes a bi-weekly presentation. He also serves on the advisory committee focused on the strategic direction for the program and is part of the leadership team developing the program curriculum and practicum. He is the founder of doc.ai, a Palo-Alto-based Federated Edge Learning company for the payers/pharma industry which merged in January 2020 with Sharecare Inc.
