Jake D Koralek
Staff Scientist, LCLS - Linac Coherent Light Source
BioI am a condensed matter physicist with research interests in quantum materials, ultrafast optics and X-ray science. I grew up in the Stanford neighborhood where I attended Palo Alto High School. I went on to the College of Creative Studies at UCSB where i worked in the lab of David Awschalom studying semiconductor spintronics. I got my PhD in physics from the University of Colorado, Boulder, working with Dan Dessau, where we developed the first system to perform angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) using a table-top laser rather than a large synchrotron facility. I moved to Lawrence Berkeley National Lab for my postdoctoral research with Joe Orenstein where we applied a wide variety of ultrafast optical techniques to study emergent properties in quantum materials and semiconductor devices. I stayed in Berkeley to work with Bob Schoenlein developing ultrafast X-ray techniques to study quantum materials. In 2014 I moved to SLAC where I am now a staff scientist in the Materials ScienceDepartment at the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS), the world's first X-ray free-electron laser.

Malika Korganbekova
Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Graduate School of Business
BioMalika Korganbekova studies the impact of technology on society, retailing, and experimentation, drawing on methods from causal inference, machine learning, and empirical industrial organization. Her work focuses in particular on privacy, data regulation, and experimentation under privacy constraints. She holds a PhD in Quantitative Marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Master's degrees in economics from Pennsylvania State University and Central European University, and a Bachelor's degree in economics from Lomonosov Moscow State University. Before her PhD, she worked at Google, Morgan Stanley, and KPMG.

Mrs. George A. Winzer Professor of Medicine
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsWe study the regulation of transcription, the first step in gene expression. The main lines of our work are 1) reconstitution of the process with more than 50 pure proteins and mechanistic analysis, 2) structure determination of the 50 protein complex at atomic resolution, and 3) studies of chromatin remodelling, required for transcription of the DNA template in living cells

Edward Korot
Adjunct Clinical Instructor, Ophthalmology
BioI’m a vitreoretinal surgeon guided by the goal of maximally scaling improvements in patients’ lives through technology.
My work involves medical AI validation, guideline development, safety, quantifying model uncertainty, AI-driven pharmaceutical trial recruitment, partner management, and UX research.
Currently, I’m an adjunct faculty at Stanford, and practicing in Michigan. When not working, you can find me doing yoga, practicing drone photography and playing tennis.
