She completed her M.A. in German at The University of Alabama in 2022 and is now a doctoral candidate in German studies at Stanford.
Her dissertation, “Representations of Inter- and Intra-Migrant Interactions in Contemporary German Literature,” examines how German-language texts represent complex relationships among migrant communities, moving beyond simplistic binaries of “host” and “immigrant” identity. -

Matthew Thomas Bouchard

BioMatthew graduated from University of California, Davis studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. After graduating he worked in the visual effects film industry working at the premier companies of George Lucas' Marin county based Industrial Light and Magic and Peter Jackson's New Zealand based "Weta Digital" where he contributed to 8 Academy of Motion Pictures and Arts Visual Effects nominated films and 2 winners (Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean 2).
Having completed his dream of working in film he more recently has focused on turning science fiction ideas of AR/VR and AI/ML into reality at companies like Apple, Microsoft, and Meta. -
Scott Calvert
Sr. Associate Dean for Administration, School of Engineering
BioScott Calvert is responsible for school operations including finance, HR, IT, facilities, and research administration. He held a similar position at Stanford in the office of the vice provost for undergraduate education prior to joining the engineering team. Before coming to Stanford, Scott was a Navy fighter pilot for 21 years after receiving a commission through the NROTC program at Duke University where he earned a BSE in mechanical engineering. He made numerous deployments aboard aircraft carriers flying F-14s and F/A-18s, and between squadron assignments, he attended US Navy Test Pilot School on a cooperative program with the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned an MSAE in aeronautical engineering. In addition, he has an MBA from Columbia University.
