Michael Lin
Professor of Neurobiology, of Bioengineering and, by courtesy, of Chemical and Systems Biology
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy interests are in novel technologies to investigate in vivo biology and improve molecular medicines. These include the use of viral proteases and protease inhibitors to control protein function in vivo, the invention of cofactor-independent photoswitchable proteins for investigating signaling dynamics and controlling gene editing in vivo, the development of fully genetically encoded voltage indicators, and a new approach of treating cancer by rewiring oncogenic pathways to cell ablation.

Michelle P. Lin
Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine (Adult Clinical/Academic)
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Lin's active NIH-funded research portfolio includes developing a novel patient-reported outcome measure for emergency asthma care; evaluating post-acute transitions and outcomes for high-risk populations; and enhancing health professions workforce retention. She uses mixed methods, including Medicare and Medicaid administrative data, to evaluate and improve the implementation of acute care delivery innovations.

Sean YT Lin, DVM, MPH
Biostatistician 2, Ophthalmology Research/Clinical Trials
Data Scientist, Ophthalmology Research/Clinical TrialsBioSean Lin is a Data Scientist within the Department of Ophthalmology. In this role, he focuses on applying advanced computational methods—including machine learning, deep learning, and biostatistics —to diverse, real-world health data. He has experience analyzing large-scale structured and unstructured datasets, such as electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) , insurance claims, and clinical text.

Stacy Lin
Clinical Assistant Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioDr. Stacy Lin is a licensed psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences who provides culturally-informed psychotherapy for the treatment of emotion dysregulation, eating disorders, and trauma. Dr. Lin has specialized training in comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is broadly interested in issues of diversity and inclusion in clinical, training, and professional settings. Her research has examined cultural factors affecting disordered eating and body image in racial/ethnic minorities.

Wen-yang Lin
Postdoctoral Scholar, Genetics
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsThe broad goal of my research interest is to identify intrinsic and extrinsic mediators of tumor growth and plasticity. My past research experiences will synergize with the expertise of Dr. Monte Winslow’s laboratory to allow the discovery of novel mechanisms of cancer progression. The integration of our molecular measurements with multiple types of ‘omics’ data will ultimately improve the diagnostic precision medicine.

Yang Lin
Postdoctoral Scholar, Ophthalmology
BioYang Lin is a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Andreas Tolias in the Department of Ophthalmology at Stanford University, where she joined in February 2024. She is also a member of the Enigma Project at Stanford.
Yang received her Ph.D. in 2023 from the IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research at Tsinghua University, where she trained under Dr. Song-Hai Shi. Her doctoral work focused on cortical development, investigating how developmental neuronal origin regulates neocortical map formation and characterizing the behavior and lineage progression of neural progenitors in the mammalian cortex.
As a postdoc, Yang has made a significant transition from developmental neuroscience into systems and computational neuroscience, focusing on how the visual brain supports active, goal-directed behavior. She currently leads behavioral and electrophysiological mice experiments in the Tolias lab.
