Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy research is focused on developing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods that probe brain tissue microstructure. This requires new MRI contrast mechanisms, strategic encoding and reconstruction schemes, physiological monitoring, brain tissue modeling and validation. Applications of these methods include neuronavigation, neurosurgical planning and the development of improved biomarkers for brain development, degeneration, disease and injury.

Kimberly Thomas McNair

BioKimberly Thomas McNair, PhD is a Lecturer in the Department of African & African American Studies at Stanford University. She earned her Ph.D. in African Diaspora Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, her M.A. in Afro-American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her B.S. in Africana Studies from North Carolina State University. Her areas of specialty include twentieth century and twenty-first century African American history, clothing and Black expressive culture, Black popular culture, and contemporary Black feminisms. Dr. McNair previously served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of African & African American Studies at Stanford University.

M Windy McNerney, PhD

Windy McNerney is the Director of Biological Sciences for the MIRECC at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Palo Alto, and a Clinical Associate Professor (Affiliated) at Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. McNerney holds a particular passion for not only understanding the neurophysiology and biochemistry of mental health diseases, but also advocating for these invisible diseases. Her research focuses on neurodegeneration, depression, TBI, PTSD, and addiction. She is collaborating with researchers to integrate brain imaging and biochemical markers in hopes to better understand these diseases. She also is taking a lead role at the VA in investigating the biochemistry of magnetic brain stimulation and is the leader of the NeuroNado Laboratory. At Stanford University, she is the professor of two popular courses examining the biological and societal issues surrounding substance use disorder, with a major focus on opioids such as fentanyl. She has individually mentored over 25 students from underrepresented groups in STEM activities and leads monthly seminars aimed at facilitating career development. In her free time, she is a community advocate for the treatment of mental health and educates groups about the dangers of fentanyl.
She earned her BS from UC Davis and her PhD from the University of Notre Dame. While at ND, she interned at NASA Ames on Human Factors Engineering. She then went on to a postdoctoral position at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (DOE), and then completed a fellowship at the WRIISC program at the VA and Stanford University.

Alexandria McPherson
Postdoctoral Scholar, Psychology
BioAlexandria (Xan) McPherson is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Psychology at Stanford University. Xan completed her PhD in Applied Physics at the University of Washington, I-LABS with Dr. Samu Taulu as her advisor. There, she developed improvements to the methodology and instrumentation for on-scalp MEG systems, such as OPM-MEG, with the goal of implementing reliable and robust methods for OPM data collection and processing. During her postdoc, she is continuing her work on OPM-MEG systems with Dr. Laura Gwilliams to further the study of speech comprehension.

Alison McQueen

BioAlison McQueen is the the Nehal and Jenny Fan Raj Civics Faculty Fellow in Undergraduate Teaching and an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University. Her research focuses on early modern political theory and the history of International Relations thought.
McQueen’s book, Political Realism in Apocalyptic Times (Cambridge University Press, 2018), traces the responses of three canonical political realists—Niccolò Machiavelli, Thomas Hobbes, and Hans Morgenthau—to hopes and fears about the end of the world. A second book project, Absolving God: Hobbes’s Scriptural Politics, tracks and explains changes in Thomas Hobbes’s strategies of Scriptural argument over time. She is also working on treason and betrayal in the history of political thought. -

Mark Patrick McVay

He is working with students and faculty throughout Stanford on efforts to create solutions for Carbon Reduction and Sustainability goals in large organizations. He is now working with Doerr School of Sustainability on external relations. Mark has spent his career in energy starting as a nuclear power engineer aboard an aircraft carrier. He most recently helped build and sell the energy analytics firm PowerAdvocate and currently serves on the boards of several energy related small companies. Mark earned an MBA from the Stanford GSB and an MS from the School of Engineering. He has a BS from the US Naval Academy.

Kimford Meador, MD
Professor of Neurology and Neurological Sciences (Adult Neurology)
BioDr. Meador is a Professor of Neurology and Neurosciences at Stanford University, and Clinical Director, Stanford Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. Dr. Meador graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Applied Biology (with high honor) and received his MD from the Medical College of Georgia. After an internship at the University of Virginia and service as an officer in the Public Health Corps, he completed a residency in Neurology at the Medical College of Georgia and a fellowship in Behavioral Neurology at the University of Florida. Dr. Meador joined the faculty at the Medical College of Georgia (1984-2002) where he became the Charbonnier Professor of Neurology. He was the Chair of Neurology at Georgetown University (2002-2004), the Melvin Greer Professor of Neurology and Neuroscience at the University of Florida (2004-2008) where he served as Director of Epilepsy Program and Director of the Clinical Alzheimer Research Program, and Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics at Emory University (2008-2013) where he served as Director of Epilepsy and of Clinical Neurocience Research. He joined the faculty of Stanford University in 2013. Dr. Meador has authored over 400 peer-reviewed publications. His research interests include: cognitive mechanisms (e.g., memory and attention); cerebral lateralization; pharmacology and physiology of cognition; mechanisms of perception, consciousness and memory; EEG; epilepsy; epilepsy and pregnancy; preoperative evaluation for epilepsy surgery; intracarotid amobarbital procedure (i.e., Wada test); functional imaging; therapeutic drug trials; neurodevelopmental effects of antiepileptic drugs; psychoimmunology; behavioral disorders (e.g., aphasia, neglect, dementia); and neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr. Meador has served as the PI for a long running NIH multicenter study of pregnancy outcomes in women with epilepsy and their children. Dr. Meador has served on the editorial boards for Clinical Neurophysiology, Epilepsy and Behavior, Epilepsy Currents, Journal of Clinical Neurophysiology, Neurology, Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology, and Epilepsy.com. His honors include Resident Teaching Award Medical College of Georgia; Outstanding Young Faculty Award in Clinical Sciences Medical College of Georgia; Distinguished Faculty Award for Clinical Research Medical College of Georgia Lawrence C. Peter Meaney

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Meaney is a nationally and internationally recognized pediatric resuscitation scientist, and his current focus is on improving care for seriously ill children at the community clinic and district hospital level in low and middle income countries. Dr Meaney seeks to conduct the necessary research to pioneer, implement and evaluate innovative yet relevant and practical solutions to improve the quality of care for seriously ill or injured children worldwide.

David Medeiros
Geospatial Reference and Instruction Specialist, Geospatial Information Services
BioI am the Geospatial Reference and Instruction Specialist for the Stanford Geospatial Center, part of the Research Data Services group. I provide GIS consultation and reference support to Stanford students, faculty and staff. My primary role is supporting Stanford researchers in their use and understanding of geospatial tools, data, and methods.
Much of my time is spent conducting one-on-one consultations, training users on GIS software, finding spatial data, and helping design spatial analysis. In addition to one-on-one consultations I also coordinate and present our ongoing series of workshops in GIS (Introduction to GIS, Georeferencing, ArcGIS Online 101, GIS Cartography).
My educational background is in Geography and Geographic Information Science, but a significant part of my professional background is in digital cartography. I have a strong interest in the effective use of design in map making for GIS. I am available for faculty publication map support as well as novel geospatial design work with tools like Blender3d or 3d printing of spatial data.
