BioDonghui Lu is a senior scientist at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. He is the deputy director of the Materials Science Division at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource leading the Soft X-ray Group. His research interests lie in studying quantum materials, such as high temperature superconductors, using high resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. He is also an expert in developing modern synchrotron instrumentations, including cutting-edge soft x-ray beamlines and sophisticated endstations with versatile sample environments and materials synthesis capabilities.

Roxana I. Malene

BioIn 2023, I joined Stanford University’s Industrial Contracts Office as a Senior Officer. As a seasoned negotiator, I focus on growth, community and collaboration, results and creating long-lasting partnerships.
A native of Romania, I immigrated in the U.S. in 2002. Later, I attended Northwestern University to explore my interest in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Computational Linguistics, and then Case Western Reserve University for Law School. I returned to Chicago where I litigated on behalf of the city and then sought justice for the unlawfully incarcerated victims of Jon Burge, as an attorney with the Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission. In 2017, I pursued my interest in transactional law and joined Northwestern’s team of contracts officers in the university’s office for sponsored research where I discovered my passion for research administration. I later joined The University of Chicago’s central research administration team to lead the team of industry contracts, create the necessary infrastructure and expand engagement with corporations interested in funding the research of brilliant faculty and partnering with the university. Stanford University recruited my in 2023, when I gladly joined the Office of Technology Licensing as a Senior Officer.
Fun fact: my first visit to a university campus in the U.S. was at the majestic Stanford University. Needless to say, I am happy to return and be part of the Stanford community! -
David Mallin

BioBefore joining Stanford as a Licensing Associate, David graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Ph.D. in Chemical and Material Physics. His multidisciplinary research in the Taborek lab focused on the low-temperature fluid dynamics of superfluid helium. During his graduate studies, he spent over three years as a technology transfer intern in UCI Applied Innovation’s Research Translation Group. He was responsible for intellectual property assessment of technologies in physics, chemistry, engineering, and computer science.

Denise Masumoto
Manager of Corporate Relations, FSI - S-APARC
BioDenise Masumoto is the Manager of Corporate Relations for the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC). She oversees all the coordination and logistics of the Global Affiliates Program working closely with the Center Deputy Director to develop programming activities. Prior to joining APARC in 2005, she worked in the hospitality industry in both San Francisco and Maui, specifically in catering and convention services. She graduated from the University of California, Davis with a BS in managerial economics.

Chris Mentzel

BioChris leads Stanford’s efforts in research and early-career development around data science and data-driven discovery, engaging the entire campus in advancing and applying new data science and AI theory and practice to accelerate research.
Previously, Chris started and led the Moore Foundation's Data-Driven Discovery Initiative, an $80 million effort within the Science Program to enable data scientists to turn the scientific data deluge into opportunities to address some of today's most important research questions. He also led the grants administration department and worked as senior network engineer for the foundation. Chris has held positions as a systems engineer and integrator at the University of California, Berkeley, and at various Internet consulting firms in the Bay Area. An active member of the broader big data and open science communities, Chris serves on a number of advisory boards and program committees and speaks frequently at conferences and workshops on topics related to data-driven research.
Chris received a B.A. in mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an M.Sc. in management science and engineering at Stanford University. -
Inger Hultgren Meyer

BioInger is a Senior Industrial Contracts Officer in the Industrial Contracts Office within Stanford’s Office of Technology Licensing. She has over 14 years of experience as a lawyer at law firms and companies in the technology, health care, and consumer products industries in the U.S. and Europe. Before joining Stanford, Inger was an Associate General Counsel at Meta Platforms, Inc. where she advised Meta’s research and engineering teams on IP and other issues arising out of academic collaborations and drafted and negotiated a variety of complex academic collaboration agreements with university partners. Inger holds a B.A. in Government from Cornell University and a J.D. from George Washington University Law School.

Julie Muccini, MS, OTR/L
Research Engineer, Rad/Musculoskeletal Imaging
BioJulie Muccini is an occupational therapist who has spent most of her clinical career working with individuals with neurological diagnoses. She is registered and licensed in California and is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC). She is actively involved in research working with individuals post-stroke, neuromuscular diseases, and osteoarthritis; additional work includes assessing shoulder movements, sprinting, and balancing tasks; she works in the Human Performance Lab with an interdisciplinary team integrating biomechanics, biomedical engineering, physiology, psychology, and rehabilitation. Ms. Muccini received her bachelor of science in industrial engineering and operations research from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her master of science in occupational therapy from Boston University. She started working at the hospital at Stanford in 1997 and transitioned to the Outpatient Neuro Rehab Clinic at the Stanford Neurosciences Health Center in 2014. In March 2021, Julie moved to the Stanford University School of Medicine to work in the Human Performance Lab at the Arrillaga Center for Sports and Recreation, ACSR, as a Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance member.

Anna enjoys long hikes, reading in her garden, designing, cooking Asian cuisine, exploring new destinations, and spending time with her family. Marketing Specialist, Stanford Office of Technology LicensingBioErik Nielsen (he/him) is a Marketing Specialist on the Business Development and Marketing Team (BDM) at Stanford's Office of Technology Licensing (OTL).
