Sergio Missana
Overseas Studies - Santiago, Bing Overseas Studies
BioSergio Missana is a professor of Literature and Film at Stanford's Overseas Studies Program in Santiago, Chile. He is the author of 17 books, including novels, essays, travel chronicles and children's books. His most recent works are the novels The Transentients (2021, translated into English by Jessica Powell) and Entremuros (Through the Walls, 2019), and Ăšltima salida (Last Exit, 2021), an essay on the humanities and the climate crisis. Missana studied Communications and Journalism at the University of Chile and earned an MA and PhD in Spanish at Stanford University. He was an editor of the report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which investigated human rights violations committed by Chile's civil-military dictatorship between 1973 and 1990. He currently serves as secretary-general of the Climate Parliament, an international multi-partisan network of legislators working to combat climate change and protect the living planet. He divides his time between Madrid and Santiago.
