Wenhao Yang

BioI'm a postdoctoral researcher in Department of Management Science and Engineering (MS&E) at Stanford University, hosted by Prof. Jose Blanchet.
Prior to that, I recieved my Ph.D. at Peking Univerisity in 2023, where I was advised by Prof. Zhihua Zhang. Previously, I received my Bachelor's degree in Statistics from School of Mathematical Sciences, Peking University in 2018.
My research interests lie broadly in the intersection areas among probability, statistics and machine learning, with applications spanning operations research, reinforcement learning, and deep learning. Specifically, I am interested in establishing statistical theories for modern large-scale models and designing practical algorithms with theoretical guarantees.
I am on the 2024-2025 job market looking for full-time academia positions. I am happy to discuss any opportunities!

Xiao Yang (杨潇)
Postdoctoral Scholar, Mechanical Engineering
BioXiao Yang is a postdoctoral fellow of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University. Xiao received his bachelor degree from Tianjin University in China in June 2016, and obtained his doctoral degree from Tianjin University in China in June 2023. Xiao’s research interests focus on fabrication and application of functional liquid crystal elastomer composites.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsYang lab's research interests are in the areas of bio-inspired biomaterials, medical devices, and 3D printing approaches for re-creating a suitable microenvironment for cell growth and tissue regeneration for musculoskeletal disease diagnosis and treatment, including multiple tissue healing such as rotator cuff injury, orthopedic diseases such as osteoporosis and osteonecrosis, and orthopedic traumas such as massive bone and muscle injuries.

Adrian Yao

STEER is a DOE-funded program that is a partnership between the SLAC-Stanford Battery Center and the Precourt Institute for Energy. The mission of STEER is to critically evaluate the techno-economics of emerging energy technologies with a technology-centric focus bridging supply- and demand-side insights to guide strategic investments, research directions, and policy agendas.
Prior to Stanford, Adrian spent 8 years in industry as the co-founder and CTO of a Li-ion battery startup, EnPower, Inc., which is now scaling a ~1 GWh/y cell manufacturing plant in Indianapolis, IN, spearheading the domestic production of advanced Li-ion cells. Adrian obtained his B.S. in Material Science & Engineering from Rice University in Houston, TX. -

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy current research interests include Continuous and Discrete Optimization, Algorithm Development and Analyses, Algorithmic Game/Market Theory and Mechanism-Design, Markov Decision Process and Reinforcement Learning, Dynamic/Online Optimization and Resource Allocation, and Stochastic and Robust Decision Making. These areas have been the unique and core disciplines of MS&E, and extended to new application areas in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Business Analytics.

Masters Student in Electrical Engineering, admitted Spring 2025BioBill Yen is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University working in the area of low-power Internet of Things (IoT) systems. He is an interdisciplinary maker and environmental scientist passionate about solving issues related to food, water, and energy using smart technologies.
Yen's experience in industry (General Motors, CNH Industrial) and academic research (Northwestern - soil-powered computing, Stanford - low-power wireless communication) cultivated his interest in designing self-powered computing devices that boost system efficiency while lowering the environmental impact of existing processes. His work has been featured by The Independent, Fast Company, MIT Technology Review China, Hackster.io, and more. He is also a recipient of the Stanford Graduate Fellowship in Science & Engineering.
