Adjunct Professor, d.schoolBioGrace Hawthorne is an entrepreneur, artist, author and educator. She is the Founder/CEO of Paper Punk, an award winning Origami meets LEGO mashup that helps people exercise their creativity and Foldmade, an innovative work supply system that helps people get stuff done. As an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University’s design institute (aka: the d.school), she teaches courses on creativity and failure and started a groundbreaking research project on creative capacity building published in Science and covered by Wired magazine. Previously, she founded ReadyMade, the culturally groundbreaking design magazine that ignited the maker movement, and led its acquisition by Meredith Corporation (NASDAQ: MDP). She co-authored the critically acclaimed book on reuse design, ReadyMade: How to Make (Almost) Everything (Random House/Potter). Her artwork has been exhibited in several national museums including the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum Triennial. Her products can be found on shelves of mass retailers nationwide. Grace has dedicated her life to making things and experiences that cultivate human creativity through the marriage of art + commerce. Veronica Jacobs-Edmondson
Curator of Collections, Archaeology
BioVeronica Jacobs-Edmondson (she/her) is the Curator of Collections at the Stanford University Archaeology Collections. She has a BA in Anthropology with a biological emphasis from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MA in Museum Anthropology from Columbia University, where she participated in a collaborative effort to curate and design a permanent exhibit highlighting the effects of climate change on contemporary culture in the Pacific at the American Museum of Natural History. Her graduate research at Columbia largely focused on challenging traditional curatorial authority and the role of the 'outsider' in historic cultural knowledge-building. Before coming to SUAC, Veronica worked with many types of museum collections, including those at the Fowler Museum at UCLA, USC Pacific Asia Museum, and San Diego Museum of Man. Her experience with collections ranges from working in osteology laboratories to working with contemporary fine art, with everything in between. Veronica is responsible for daily operations at SUAC, including the physical care of the objects at SUAC along with records and data management. She also mentors students in museum practice and facilitates course visits with the Collections. She is passionate about ethical and respectful collecting, display, and stewardship of material culture, as well as ensuring equitable access to cultural collections, education, and resources.

Amy Keohane

BioLanguage Center scheduling assistant and building manager. She is in charge of scheduling the more than 900 courses offered by the Language Center each year, ordering books, and organizing Language Center events. She is also the coordinator for the Chinese Summer Language Program and the building manager for Building 30.

Kimia Koochakzadeh-Yazdi

CCRMA Student Assistant, MusicBioKimia Koochakzadeh-Yazdi is an Iranian composer and performer. She writes for hybrid instrumental/electronic ensembles, creates electroacoustic and audiovisual works, builds instruments, and performs electronic music. She explores the unfamiliar familiar while being motivated by how melodies unfold through time; finding ways to play with various musical thresholds and exploring musical extremes is something that she is currently attracted to. Her work experiments with merging Iranian music with the more contemporary classical music aesthetics.
Being a cross-disciplinary artist, she has actively collaborated on projects evolving around dance, film, and theater. She is the co-founder and producer of Fashion x Electronics, a collective focused on creating interdisciplinary works based on fashion and electronic music.
Kimia’s work has been showcased by organizations across the globe and her work has been performed internationally at festivals including Ars Electronica, Festival Ecos Urbanos, Tehran Contemporary Sounds, Sonic Matter Festival, New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Sound and Music Conference, and Modulus Festival, among others.
She holds a BFA in Music Composition from Simon Fraser University’s Interdisciplinary School for the Contemporary Arts. Kimia is currently based in San Francisco and is a doctorate candidate in Music Composition at Stanford University.
