    BioKelsey Priest, MD, PhD, MPH is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. Dr. Priest completed her MD/PhD at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and the joint School of Public Health at OHSU-Portland State University. She earned her doctorate in Health Systems & Policy, defending her mixed-methods dissertation titled "Hospital-Based Services for Opioid Use Disorder: A Study of Supply-Side Attributes." Dr. Priest began her residency at UPMC's Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, before transferring to Stanford, where she completed the remainder of her psychiatry residency training. During her third year at Stanford, she served as the Inpatient Chief Resident, and as a fourth year resident was part of the first group of residents designated as Social Medicine & Humanities Research Track Residents. While in residency, Dr. Priest completed a two-year psychoanalytic psychotherapy program as part of the Palo Alto Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program. In 2025, Dr. Priest completed a multi-week training in Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET).

    Clinically, Dr. Priest is developing a program within the Anxiety & Depression Adult Psychological Treatment (ADAPT) Clinic caring for patients with functional and somatic distress, as well as those requiring high-acuity psychiatric services in the emergency department. Dr. Priest's research explores health service, system, and policy-related issues that impact access to evidence-based care for people with mental health and substance use disorders.

    Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Primary Care and Population Health

    BioDr. Angela Primbas is a board-certified, fellowship-trained internal medicine doctor with Stanford Health Care. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Primary Care and Population Health at Stanford University School of Medicine.

    As part of Stanford Concierge Medicine, Dr. Primbas provides individualized primary care built on a strong patient-provider relationship. She specializes in geriatric medicine and is experienced in both inpatient and outpatient primary care settings. She is especially interested in providing preventive care and treating health concerns related to healthy aging, longevity, bone health, and postmenopausal aging.

    In every aspect of her practice, Dr. Primbas emphasizes compassionate care, taking the time to listen to and understand each person’s needs. She is also passionate about working with medically underserved populations, including individuals in the LGBTQ+ community.

    Dr. Primbas studies how health systems can improve their approach and training to serve marginalized groups better. She also focuses on enhancing medical education for students and residents. Dr. Primbas cofounded Stanford Ambulatory Care Excellence, a program that supports internal medicine residents with opportunities to improve the skills needed to provide excellent primary care. She has also created and taught curricula on geriatrics, healthy aging, osteoporosis, and LGBTQ+ health.

    Dr. Primbas has published her research in peer-reviewed journals, including AIDS Care, Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, and Journal of Investigative Medicine. She has also written book chapters about LGBTQ+ health in older adults, published in Clinics in Geriatric Medicine and Geriatric Review Syllabus, and on the diagnosis and management of headaches in older patients. As an advocate and collaborator, Dr. Primbas has shared her research and medical expertise around the world, including at meetings of the American Geriatrics Society, the American College of Physicians, and the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care.

    BioLawrence (Lance) S. Prince, MD, PhD, is the Philip Sunshine Endowed Professor of Pediatrics at Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. Prince was previously a Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of the Division of Neonatology at the University of California, San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital, San Diego.

    Dr. Prince has a long and distinguished career mentoring clinical and scientific trainees and students, many of whom have gone on to establish their own successful careers as academic physician investigators. As a physician scientist, Dr. Prince leads a basic science laboratory focusing on the mechanisms regulating developmental immunology and lung injury and repair. Dr. Prince received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from University of Miami, an MD/PhD with a focus in Cell Biology from University of Alabama at Birmingham, and postdoctoral fellowship, Pediatrics residency, and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship training at the University of Iowa. Before arriving in California, Dr. Prince was an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University.

    Dr. Prince’s research interests include the molecular and cellular mechanisms controlling lung development and the maturation of the fetal and neonatal immune systems. He has a particular clinical interest in managing and treating neonatal lung diseases, especially bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in babies born extremely preterm. Dr. Prince’s research team focuses primarily on the development of innate immunity during fetal life as it impacts health and disease in preterm infants. The laboratory is investigating how microbes including Group B streptococcus exploit the unique features of neonatal macrophages to avoid immune detection and cause disease, as well as leading a number of clinical and translational investigations.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMuch of our research exploits the power of yeast as an experimentally tractable model eukaryote to investigate fundamental problems in cell and developmental biology such as the mechanisms of cell polarization and cytokinesis. In another project, we are developing the small sea anemone Aiptasia as a model system for study of the molecular and cellular biology of dinoflagellate-cnidarian symbiosis, which is critical for the survival of most corals but still very poorly understood.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsViral infections and subsequent host response depend on multiple RNA-protein interaction. My research focuses on the structural and functional characterization of RNA-protein complexes involved in viral infection. Current research aims to understand how the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) initiates its replication upon host infection. We use NMR spectroscopy and x-ray crystallography to study the structure of the initiation complex, formed by a host tRNA and HIV genomic RNA, coupled with biochemical and biophysical methods to understand functional properties. The goal of this research is to gain a molecular view of HIV replication initiation, and use this information to develop new therapeutic approaches to combat HIV.

    BioKrishna Pundi, MD is a cardiac electrophysiologist and health services and outcomes researcher with a clinical interest in the management of ventricular arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation.

    Dr. Pundi leads a multidisciplinary research program to study (1) clinical and arrhythmia-specific factors that predict cardiovascular risk for ventricular arrhythmias, (2) the interplay of frailty and obesity with atrial fibrillation outcomes, and (3) the role of digital health and wearables in arrhythmia care. He has led grant-funded research through the NIH, FDA, and ACC and collaborations with large device and quality databases including AHA’s Get With the Guidelines. He has a special interest in innovation and regulatory science, having organized national Think Tanks of patients, investigators, and FDA to define the scientific and clinical use of wearable monitors. Dr. Pundi holds leadership roles through the American College of Cardiology, Heart Rhythm Society, Cardiovascular Sciences Research Consortium, and HRX - an innovation-focused meeting of clinicians, researcher, and industry.

    BioDr. Rajesh Punn is a pediatric cardiologist and clinical professor at Stanford University with expertise in advanced echocardiography, congenital heart disease imaging, and fetal cardiology. He serves as Director of Ambulatory Cardiology at the Stanford Pediatric Heart Center, where his work focuses on optimizing outpatient care delivery and integrating imaging into clinical decision-making.

    His academic interests center on ventricular function, fetal and pediatric echocardiography, and translational imaging applications in congenital heart disease. He is actively involved in multicenter research collaborations and has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Punn also serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography.

    In addition to his clinical and research work, he is deeply engaged in mentorship of fellows, residents, and medical students, with a focus on developing the next generation of clinicians and physician-scientists in pediatric cardiology.

    BioMy research integrates neuroimaging, biomedical signal processing, and the systems neuroscience of general anesthesia and sedation.

    We are a neuroengineering lab focused on brain dynamics, brain health, and the neural mechanisms of anesthesia. Our research aims to understand the brain dynamics of aging, Alzheimer’s disease, child development, sleep, anesthesia, and consciousness. We use this knowledge to develop novel technologies for brain monitoring and physiological control. We also teach anesthesiologists how to use EEG to provide personalized anesthesia care.

She received her B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University and her Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

    BioDr. Qatu is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pain management specialist at the Stanford Health Care Pain Management Center. He is also a clinical instructor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine, Division of Pain Medicine, at Stanford University School of Medicine.

    He specializes in the diagnosis and management of many different types of pain, including nerve pain, joint pain, cancer pain, low back and neck pain. Dr. Qatu obtained his medical degree from the New York University (NYU) Grossman School of Medicine. He continued on at NYU to complete his residency in anesthesiology after completing an internship in general surgery. He subsequently completed his pain medicine fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Qatu believes in utilizing a multimodal approach for pain management. This includes interventional, pharmacological, rehabilitative and psychological strategies. He is well-trained in a wide variety of interventional modalities that include injections, epidurals, nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablations, peripheral nerve stimulation, spinal cord/dorsal root ganglion stimulation and minimally invasive decompression. His research focuses on the clinical use of neuromodulation for various types of pain. In addition, he has investigated whether certain demographic and socioeconomic variables, as well as psychiatric illness, affect the outcomes of various orthopaedic traumas and surgeries. Dr. Qatu has presented his research at conferences throughout the U.S. and in Canada.

    BioStanley Qi (publishing as Lei S. Qi) is a pioneer in the field of genome engineering and the architect of the foundational technologies that transitioned CRISPR from a "cutting" tool into a universal platform for Programmable Biology. As the inventor of CRISPR interference (CRISPRi) and CRISPR activation (CRISPRa), Qi established the first methods for the precise, reversible, and targeted regulation of the human genome without altering the DNA sequence.

    The Qi Lab integrates scalable genomic perturbation with live-cell and super-resolution imaging and computation-guided design to redefine the boundaries of cellular control. Under Dr. Qi’s leadership, the group has fundamentally expanded the genome engineering toolbox, evolving CRISPR from a single editing tool into a multidimensional platform for the precise control of dynamic and spatial cell states. This work includes establishing foundational technologies and architectures for precise epigenetic editing, multiplexed regulation of the transcriptome, programmable 3D genome organization, and spatial control of RNA logistics. By pioneering real-time visualization of chromatin dynamics and RNA in living cells, the lab provides an unprecedented window into the fundamental "control principles of life."

    This principle-driven technology lineage has moved into the clinic, with the lab's compact epigenetic editor currently in first-in-human clinical testing for FSHD muscular dystrophy (NCT06907875). This milestone represents a core mission of the lab: translating foundational engineering into next-generation therapeutics that act predictably as dynamic, complex systems.

    Beyond single-cell control, the Qi Lab is building a framework for synthetic cell–cell communication, with a particular emphasis on the bidirectional interplay between immune cells and neurons. The lab’s goal is to move beyond describing molecular parts to discovering fundamental control principles in living systems: how regulatory landscapes create stable states and memory, how spatial genome–RNA organization shapes dynamic responses, and how engineered cell–cell interactions can generate emergent multicellular behaviors.

    By integrating computational design with experimental biology, Dr. Qi aims to identify the generalizable rules linking molecular programs to systems-level physiology. He is a Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Investigator and an Institute Scholar at the Sarafan ChEM-H, and is dedicated to shaping the technical and ethical frameworks that will define the future of human genome engineering.

    Yushen Qian, MD

    Clinical Associate Professor, Radiation Oncology - Radiation Therapy

    BioDr. Qian is a board-certified radiation oncologist and a Clinical Associate Professor in the Stanford University School of Medicine, Department of Radiation Oncology.

    In his clinical practice, he sub-specializes in genitourinary (including prostate and bladder cancer) and Head and Neck malignancies, but also treats a broad spectrum of other disease subsites including lung/thoracic, gastrointestinal, brain, lymphoma, and breast tumors. For each patient, he develops a comprehensive, individualized, and compassionate care plan customized to individual needs. His goal is to deliver the most effective cancer treatment to help patients enjoy the best possible health and quality of life.

    In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Qian serves as the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at Stanford South Bay Cancer Center. He also serves as the Radiation Oncology Network Director of Clinical Research and has spearheaded opening of multiple NRG Oncology clinical trials at Stanford South Bay Cancer Center.

    Dr. Qian is also actively involved in the Stanford Radiation Oncology residency program. He created and oversees a monthly mentorship roundtable series to assist residents with multiple aspects of their clinical training and career progression.

    Outside of work, Dr. Qian enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the great outdoors of Northern California.

    BioDr. Michael Quach, MD serves as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Quach is a board certified psychiatrist with over 20 years of administrative and clinical experience.

    Dr. Quach completed his medical training at Stanford University School of Medicine and psychiatric residency training at Stanford Hospital and Clinics. He served as Chief Resident in the Stanford Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and was recipient of the prestigious Stanford George Gulevich Humanistic Medicine Award in 2006.

    Dr. Quach is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN), and he is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (FAPA). He is President of the Vietnamese Physician Assocation of Northern California. He is also President of the Viet-American Mental Health Network.     Dr. Quintero has published on topics including coronavirus in kidney transplant patients, prevention of cytomegalovirus in heart transplant patients, and prevention of urinary tract infections in renal transplant patients. His work has appeared in publications including Transplant Infectious Disease, Emerging Infectious Diseases, and the Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.

    He has delivered presentations at meetings of organizations including the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, and American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. Topics of his presentations have included prevention of cytomegalovirus, prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections, Chagas disease in New York City, and more.

    Currently, Dr. Quintero is conducting research on treatment of patients with COVID-19, prevention and treatment of invasive fungal infections of the gastrointestinal tract in immunocompromised patients, and the epidemiology of invasive fungal infections in heart transplant recipients.

    Among his awards, He has received honors for his teaching and research from Albert Einstein College. He also has earned recognition from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the American Society of Transplantation.

    Dr. Quintero’s volunteer community service includes participation in health fairs to promote HIV testing and hypertension control, plus disease management in the Garifuna population in New York – descendants of an Afro-indigenous population from the Caribbean island of St. Vincent.

    He is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of American, Infectious Diseases Association of California, American Society of Transplantation, and HIV Medicine Association.

    BioDr. Quirin's laboratory develops minimally invasive methods to explore the causal role individual neurons play in the emergence of behavior. To this end, the lab's strength is the development of techniques which manipulate light to both detect and restoratively modulate brain activity down to the single-neuron scale. His lab continues to innovate with new tools which map these functional relationships onto the molecular and anatomical architecture of the brain. Utilizing these techniques, the lab aims to characterize how ensembles of neurons coordinate to encode and communicate information throughout the brain for sensing and behavior.
