Sara Pardej
Postdoctoral Scholar, Psychiatry
BioSara Pardej earned her BA in Psychology and BS in Cognitive Science at Marquette University. Afterwards, she attended the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee under the mentorship of Dr. Bonita P. Klein-Tasman, where she earned both her MS and PhD in Clinical Psychology. There, she worked on several studies focusing on youth with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), including behavioral phenotyping work, psychometric studies, and a social skills intervention study. Her dissertation study, which was funded by a Young Investigator Award from the Children's Tumor Foundation, focused on examining event related potentials using EEG by comparing children with NF1 to children with idiopathic ADHD and unaffected children. She completed her Doctoral Internship in Clinical Psychology at Penn State Health in Hershey, Pennsylvania. While at Penn State, she also worked on research examining safety and psychopathology in youth with ADHD and/or autism. Her clinical interest is neuropsychology, and her research interests include issues of psychometrics, behavioral phenotyping, and the neuropsychological development (and subsequent areas of intervention) of individuals with NF1 across the lifespan.

Vedant Pargaonkar
Basic Life Research Scientist, Medicine - Med/Cardiovascular Medicine
BioMy long-term research interests involve development of algorithms using computational methods for early detection of coronary pathophysiology including, endothelial dysfunction and microvascular dysfunction (MVD) and/or a myocardial bridge (MB) in patients with angina and no obstructive coronary artery disease (NOCAD) and the identification of novel target therapies for primary prevention and improved prognosis in these patients. Under the mentorship of Dr. Jennifer Tremmel in Cardiovascular medicine at Stanford, I have been systematically studying to better understand the underlying pathophysiology of these patients, as well as the optimal use of diagnostic testing and treatment using the angina and no-obstructive CAD Registry at Stanford. In collaboration with other investigators in this field, we have published multiple scientific articles highlighting the limitations of current testing in this population and identification of novel diagnostic tools for early diagnosis and management of patients with angina and no obstructive CAD. My research also focuses on myocardial infarction (MI) in women, particularly spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD). I have been involved in the design and execution of the first international collaborative study in SCAD, investigating peripartum vs. non-peripartum SCAD. This is analyzing the largest cohort of patients recruited from multiple US and non-US sites to understand the pathophysiological differences in these patient cohorts.

Mitchel Pariani
Clinical Assistant Professor (Affiliated), Pediatrics - Genetics
BioMitchel earned his Master’s degree in genetic counseling from California State University, Northridge in 2007. At Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Mitchel served as genetic counselor and coordinator for David Rimoin, MD, PhD’s connective tissue disorders clinic and later established the cardiovascular genetics program at CSMC. At CSMC he also created the CSMC Summer Genetic Counseling Rotation Program that hosted students from genetic counseling programs around the United States. In 2014 he joined the new Stanford Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease to start a familial hypercholesterolemia clinic and provide genetic counseling for patients with cardiomyopathies. As the center expanded, Mitchel joined the Stanford Marfan Center as a genetic counselor and serves as program coordinator. He is the primary instructor for Stanford’s Cardiovascular Genetics course and serves as a clinical supervisor and mentor for students and volunteers.

Divya Parikh, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Oncology
BioDr. Divya Parikh is board-certified in both medical oncology and internal medicine. She obtained her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed both her residency and fellowship through Stanford University. During her fellowship, she simultaneously earned a Master of Science in health policy from Stanford University.
Dr. Parikh specializes in the care of patients with genitourinary cancers. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she currently is a clinical assistant professor of medical oncology at Stanford School of Medicine. She mentors medical residents and fellows by sharing her insights, knowledge, and expertise.
Dr. Parikh has a strong research background. She has published in multiple academic journals and presented her findings through poster and oral presentations at various medical conferences. -
Victoria Parikh, MD
Associate Professor of Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine)
BioDr. Parikh is a clinician scientist who cares for patients with and studies inherited (genetic) cardiovascular disease. She is the director of the Stanford Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease (SCICD) which is one of the largest of its kind in the country. SCICD integrates clinical and basic science with the expert care of patients with genetic cardiovascular conditions (e.g., cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias and vascular diseases). It provides cutting edge care for thousands of patients and families across the lifespan and integrates medical, surgical and genetics care. Our team includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, genetic counselors, exercise physiologists and scientists.
Dr. Parikh's own clinical practice and laboratory are focused on the genetics of cardiomyopathies and their associated arrhythmogenic substrates. She completed clinical cardiology fellowship at Stanford School of Medicine and her medical residency at the University of California, San Francisco. Funded by multiple research grants from the NIH, her lab seeks to identify novel mechanisms and therapeutic technologies for genetic cardiomyopathy as well as better understand the natural histories of patients affected by these diseases. -

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsThe goal of our Laboratory is to improve patients’ care and outcomes by analyzing clinical data from thousands of patients treated at our institution. Our current primary areas of interest are benign tumors, brain and spine metastases, and neurogenetic disorders.
Our lab is led by Dr. Steven D. Chang and Dr. David J. Park and proudly hosts talented young clinical scientists from around the world.

Eunkyung Angela Park, MD, PhD
Clinical Associate Professor, Radiology - Rad/Nuclear Medicine
BioDr. Eunkyung Angela Park is a Clinical Associate Professor (affiliated) at the Department of Radiology at Stanford and Nuclear Medicine Staff Physician at Palo Alto VA Medical Center. She takes care of patients having cancer, various diseases in the brain, heart and other organs through molecular imaging and targeted radiopharmaceutical therapies. She completed clinical and research training at the Yale University PET Center, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Seoul National University Hospital in Korea. She served as Associate Section Chief in Nuclear Medicine at University of Utah. Her main professional interests include global promotion of nuclear medicine, clinical/translational research in nuclear neurology, and operational system innovation. Dr. Park is particularly interested in early and accurate differential diagnoses of mixed neurodegenerative disorders by using brain PET imaging with various radiopharmaceuticals targeting glucose metabolism, amyloid, tau, neuroreceptors and transporters. She enjoys traveling, practicing yoga, and listening to music.

I focus on routine radiopharmaceutical production, including 18F tracers (18F-Flumazenil, 18F-FTC-146, 18F-FLT, 18F Arag, 18F-FSPG etc.); 11C tracers (11C UCB-J, 11C-raclopride, 11C-PIB, 11C-methionine, 11C DPA-713 etc.); 15O-H2O and 68Ga-DOTATATE radiochemistry for clinical use and supporting various of pre-clinical studies.

Junyoung Park
Postdoctoral Scholar, Neurology and Neurological Sciences
BioDr. Jun Young graduated from the Department of Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, Seoul National University, Korea. His major field of study is biostatistics, with a specific focus on the application of machine learning and statistical analysis to medical imaging and genetic data. During his doctoral studies, he concentrated on two primary research areas. Firstly, he dedicated himself to the development of deep learning models for medical images, primarily centered on T1-MRI and cognitive function test images related to Alzheimer's Disease. Secondly, he engaged in extensive genome-wide association analyses of medical images associated with Alzheimer's Disease, using statistical algorithms to uncover novel insights into the genetic factors contributing to this complex condition. Currently, as a postdoctoral fellow at the Greicius Lab at Stanford, he aims to develop statistical methods to discover novel structural variants and model polygenetic risk scores using long-read sequencing data.

Adjunct Professor, Medicine - Med/Gastroenterology and Hepatology
BioPrior to joining Genentech in 2018, Dr. Park was Associate Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, Co-Director of the IBD Center at Stanford Children’s Health, and an expert in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Currently, he is the Global Head of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Metabolism in Product Development at Genentech and Roche. Trained as a health economist, during his tenure in academia, Dr Park held research grants and funding support focused on the cost-effectiveness of biologic treatment strategies and novel non-invasive biomarkers for children and adults with IBD. He led national research registries at the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation and scientific/clinical committees in numerous GI societies and physicians’ organizations. He received his BA in chemistry/biochemistry at Duke University, MD at University of Tennessee, and MSc in Health Economics/Policy at Stanford where he completed his clinical and postdoctoral trainings. He is Adjunct Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Stanford University. At Genentech Roche, Dr. Park directs a team of clinical scientists and medical directors overseeing clinical phase drug development in gastroenterology, hepatology, and metabolism.

Dr. Lesley Park is a co-founding director of the Stanford AHEaD summer research program for college students from underrepresented and historically excluded groups in the health sciences. She is also the Executive Director of the VACS consortium, an international collaboration of methodologists, clinicians, and trainees who utilize the rich and valuable data from the Veterans Health Administration to do impactful research. VACS has been at the forefront of research to understand aging with HIV to improve patient care, particularly with respect to alcohol and other substance use, physiologic frailty, and polypharmacy. In recent years, the VACS mission has expanded to encompass other foci, including genomic research and most recently COVID-19.
Within the VACS, Dr. Park oversees cancer and COVID-19 outcomes research in persons with HIV/AIDS (PWH). Her research experience has focused on the intersection of cancer and HIV, examining epidemiologic methods for cancer research, cancer incidence trends, and cancer (particularly hepatocellular carcinoma) prevention in PWH. Dr. Park is an experienced epidemiologist, skilled in "big data" observational research, survival analysis, and SAS programming. She teaches courses in computing, data management, and epidemiologic analysis methods. Her prior experience includes research at the Yale School of Medicine and at the Center for Biostatistics in AIDS Research (CBAR) at the Harvard School of Public Health.
The International Workshop on HIV and Hepatitis Observational Databases (IWHOD) is an established scientific forum for the appropriate application of real-world data to emerging issues in infectious disease. Dr. Park leads the IWHOD scientific committee of internationally reknowned experts in infectious disease and is responsible for administrative and scientific coordination of IWHOD.
Previously, Dr. Park was one of the leaders of the Stanford Center for Population Health Sciences (PHS). PHS aims to improve the health of populations by bringing together diverse disciplines and data to understand and address social, environmental, behavioral, and biological factors. She oversaw all of the educational and training initiatives at PHS and was one of the founding directors of the PHS Data Center and PHS Postdoctoral Fellowship program. -
Walter Park

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Park's research interests are in the diagnosis and management of pancreatic cysts, acute and chronic pancreatitis. His approach incorporates methods in health services research including the use of observational datasets, cost-effectiveness studies, and the development of clinical cohorts.
