Karen E. Adams MD, FACOG, DipABLM, MSCP

BioDr. Adams is doubly board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN) and Lifestyle Medicine, a Menopause Society-certified menopause specialist, and fellow of the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health. She is a Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stanford University where she is Director of the Stanford Program in Menopause & Healthy Aging. She is also a faculty affiliate of the Stanford Center on Longevity and a member of the Advisory Board of the Stanford Women's Health and Sex Differences Center.
She has been practicing for over 30 years with focused expertise on menopause management, female sexual dysfunction treatment, and lifestyle medicine to decrease the risk of chronic conditions associated with aging. Prior to her arrival at Stanford Health Care, Dr. Adams was Professor Emeritus and director of the Menopause and Sexual Medicine Program at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). She also served as Vice Chair for Education and Residency Program Director at OHSU for 14 years.
Her deep-rooted dedication to women’s health is evidenced by her leadership in numerous professional societies, committees, and boards and by the many awards she has received, including the Mentor of the Year Award from the American College of OBGYN. Dr. Adams is a recognized leader in medical education, having served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics and on the national Review Committee for Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. She is an in-demand speaker on menopause, lifestyle medicine, and sex medicine to both medical and lay audiences nationally and internationally. Rachel Ellen Chan Seay

BioMy clinical focus is the care of people across the age spectrum from adolescence to menopause. I attend to both Obstetric and benign Gynecologic needs in both ambulatory and hospital settings. I strive to provide a holistic approach to consultations for full-scope benign Gyn medical and surgical problems. In my practice of clinical medicine, I strongly value the role of education across all levels, including medical staff, students, resident physicians, patients and their families. I emphasize effective communication, professionalism, and inclusive patient-centered care.
I am actively involved in national and international programs that focus on teaching medical students, residents and faculty. Since completing my residency training, I have worked regularly in international low-resource settings. I have served as Visiting Clinical Faculty in Thomonde, Haiti; at Hospital Nacional Juan Jose Ortega in Coatepeque, Guatemala; and at Orotta School of Medicine in Asmara, Eritrea. I have completed emergency OBGYN field assignments as a clinical consultant for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Sierra Leone and South Sudan. I worked as a consultant for an academic partnership with the University of Colorado School of Public Health to train local traditional birth attendants, and developed a long-term partnership to augment the local OBGYN residency program in Coatepeque in the southwest Trifinio region of Guatemala. I was the 2015 Research Fellow in the History of American Ob/Gyn at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in Washington DC, where my research focused on the evolution of the management of postpartum hemorrhage in the US from 1903-1940. Since 2023, I have served as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Global Health Equity in Butaro, Rwanda.
My ongoing scholarly activities focus on designing global health curricula for medical trainees from high-resources settings, and supporting medical education in low-resource settings. -

BioPaula J. Adams Hillard, M.D., is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stanford University School of Medicine where she serves as Associate Chair for Medical Student Education. She earned a B.S. in Zoology from the University of North Carolina and obtained her M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine. She completed a residency in OB/Gyn at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She was on the faculty at the University of Virginia, and served as Professor in the Departments of OB/Gyn and Pediatrics at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (CCHMC) /University of Cincinnati Medical Center for 23 years. At CCHMC she was the founder of a postgraduate fellowship training program in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She currently directs the program in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford.
She has been active on a number of national medical committees, including chair of the American College Obstetricians and Gynecologists' (ACOG) Committees on Patient Education, Adolescent Health, and Guidelines for Women’s Health; she is a past member of the Gynecologic Practice Committee, the Gynecology Document Review Committee, and the Ethics Committee. She was been an examiner for the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists from 1991-2015. She is a Board Member of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and was elected a fellow of the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society. She is a past president of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, and is an active contributor to the literature in adolescent gynecology and contraception with over 200 journal articles and abstracts published. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She is the sole editor of two textbooks: the 5-Minute Consult in Obstetrics and Gynecology (2008) and Practical Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (2013). She is the author of over 120 book chapters on women’s health. She has been a consultant and a member of tasks forces and committees for the CDC, the U.S. FDA, the NICHD, the AMA, American Cancer Society, and ACOG. In addition to her work as a member of editorial boards and as an ad hoc reviewer for professional publications, Dr. Hillard has extensive experience with the consumer press. She was a contributing editor to Parents magazine from 1982-1990, writing a monthly column on pregnancy and birth--and currently acts as an editorial consultant to women’s publications such as Good Housekeeping, Family Circle, Woman’s Day, Cosmopolitan, Redbook, Glamour, YM, and Seventeen, as well as ABC News. She is a consultant to and a member of the medical advisory board of Clue, a menstrual cycle tracking app. She has been recognized for her teaching, and has been selected as one of 18 senior faculty master teachers/mentors for medical students at the Stanford University School of Medicine in a formal mentoring program called Educators for CARE: Compassion, Advocacy, Responsibility, and Empathy. -

Gnendy Indig, MD

BioDr. Gnendy Indig is an obstetrician-gynecologist at Stanford Health Care. She also serves as a clinical instructor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Division of Gynecology & Gynecologic Specialties at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Indig specializes in comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care with a focus on inclusive reproductive health services. She supports her patients through all phases of their lives, from puberty to menopause. Her clinical expertise includes complex gynecological conditions, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and prenatal, obstetric, and gender-affirming care. Her care philosophy emphasizes equity, informed decision-making, and partnership with patients to ensure care that aligns with everyone’s values and goals.
Dr. Indig’s research interests include improving the quality, inclusivity, and medical education around affirming medical care for gender and sexual minorities. She has published her work in multiple peer-reviewed journals, including International Journal of Transgender Health, Journal of Medical Education and Curricular Development, and BMC Medical Education. She has also presented her work at national meetings. -

Juno Obedin-Maliver

BioJuno Obedin-Maliver, MD, MPH, MAS, FACOG (she/her) is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Juno Obedin-Maliver is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist who provides excellent clinical care, while advancing scientific knowledge through her research, and supporting personal and professional development as a physician coach.
She practices full-spectrum gynecology including outpatient, in-patient, operative, and emergency care services. This specifically includes collaborative management of cervical dysplasia and abnormal pap smears, abnormal uterine bleeding, contraception and family planning, pelvic pain, abnormal discharge, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, and more. She specializes in the gynecological and reproductive health care needs of sexual and gender minority people which include but are not limited to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ+) people. This interest and experience drives her research interests towards promoting the health and well-being and equity of LGBTQ people.
Dr. Obedin-Maliver, is the Co-Director of The PRIDE Study (pridestudy.org), a multi-site online prospective longitudinal cohort of sexual and gender minority individuals based at Stanford. She also serves on the medical advisory board of the University of California San Francisco Center of Excellence for Transgender Health and is helping to author the next version of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care. Dr. Obedin-Maliver has also been active in health policy, including involvement in helping to legally redefine consideration of sexually intimate partner status and to remove the Medicare Non-Coverage Determination ruling on gender -affirming surgeries.
Additionally, Dr. Obedin-Maliver continues her long-standing commitment to growth, healing, and empowerment as a Master Certified Physician Development Coach (Physician Coaching Institute, ICF Level I). In her coaching, Dr. Obedin-Maliver uses personal and professional development tools, mindfulness, and somatic frameworks to enhance health, agency, and creativity in partnering with individuals to help them achieve their professional goals and design their personal lives. She rejoices in partnering with diverse healthcare providers to use her broad skills to supercharge their authentic learning and growth, especially in times of challenge and resistance.
