Map Librarian, Earth Sciences Library
BioHello! I am a map librarian at Branner Earth Sciences Library & Map Collections where I manage and provide reference support for our circulating collection of approximately 300,000 paper maps. I develop, oversee, and contribute to strategies for original and copy cataloging and digitization of newly acquired and backlogged cartographic and geospatial materials. I am keen to create an interactive environment that engages and inspires our patrons while fulfilling their research needs and center my collection development and space planning decisions on this goal.
I give a monthly hands-on workshop on how to create Esri StoryMaps; the current model walks participants through how to utilize historical maps, images, and GIS data to create digital maps using ArcGIS Online which are then served through a multi-template StoryMap. I am most fulfilled when creatively thriving alongside our community and find that this platform is an intuitive way to digitally tell any story regardless of the discipline. Along with Julie Sweetkind-Singer and David Medeiros, our StoryMap titled Pancakes & Silver was awarded Esri's 2019 StoryMap of the Year. So come, let's get creative! -

Priyanka Vyas
Gis Assistant, Earth Sciences Library
Staff, Library TechnologyBioPriyanka Vyas, PhD is an associate with the Stanford Geospatial Center. Dr. Vyas has a PhD in Public Policy and Political Economy from the School of Economic, Political, and Policy Sciences at the University of Texas, Dallas, and a postdoctoral training in tobacco control from the University of California, San Francisco .Her research interest lies at the intersection of public health, GIS, and urban planning and geography. On the domestic front, she has worked on understanding the spatial and contextual factors that drive variation in noncommunicable diseases. In particular she has worked on projects that link neighborhood environment and the influence of retail environment on influencing health behavior such as tobacco use. On the international front, She has worked on projects that seek to examine gaps in child immunization coverage in Bangladesh and understanding the role of GIS for public health decision-making in the context of LMIC.

Amanda Whitmire
Head Librarian and Bibliographer, Hopkins Marine Library
Current Role at StanfordMy main goals are to:
1. support excellence in research by any means necessary, with physical and virtual library spaces and collections;
2. facilitate effective stewardship and curation of information and data generated by the research community at Hopkins Marine Station;
3. extend the preservation efforts of HMS archive collections to create actionable research products, thus broadening their utility and impact; and,
4. share the remarkable work of Hopkins researchers with our local community through meaningful engagement with diverse audiences.
I am responsible for the overall management of the Harold A. Miller Library. I make purchase decisions for books, journals, and electronic resources in the marine sciences. I help Hopkins residents find the information they need, procure documents not available on site or online, and provide instruction on use of physical and virtual library resources and spaces. I also provide research services, including consultations on data management, sharing and curation. I manage the Miller Library's web pages and Facebook presence.
In my role as Assistant to the Director of the Station, I help with fundraising, publicity, and tours. I also help manage content for the Station's web pages and social media feeds. Find me on Twitter @AWhitTwit.
