Raul Garreta Tompson

BioI'm a tech entrepreneur, passionate about Artificial Intelligence (AI), with extensive experience in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Robotics.
I started in Machine Learning back in 2005, building an artificial Go player with Neural Networks and Reinforcement Learning. That was ten years before AlphaGo used the same principles :)
Then worked on a bunch of companies including programming video games and implementing firmware for implantable medical devices.
In 2007 I started lecturing Machine Learning and NLP as a professor at the Computer Science Institute of UDELAR for 9 years.
In 2009 I co-founded Tryolabs, Python dev shop specialized in building products with AI.
In 2013 I co-authored with PhD Guillermo Moncecchi a technical book about an introduction to applied Machine Learning with Python programming language.
In 2014 I founded and led MonkeyLearn to make Machine Learning and NLP accessible to all companies and users. I raised a total of $4.2m from top tier Venture Capital and angel investors in Silicon Valley. I led all R&D and business operations, selling our product to top companies in the US.
In 2020 I finished my master thesis in Artificial Intelligence, "Data Efficient Deep Learning Models for Text Classification", where I compared multiple state of the art models, including language models.
In 2022 I exited MonkeyLearn to Medallia and joined as Sr Director leading AI research and development.
I'm an active investor, I invest in public markets but also in private companies, particularly tech startups and software product companies. I'm also LP in two venture capital funds, Uncork Capital and Garuda Ventures.
Currently researching and building on Artificial Intelligence for Robotics. -
Jeff Gordon
Senior Associate Director of Corporate Relations, School of Engineering - External Relations
Current Role at StanfordJeff Gordon is the Senior Associate Director of Corporate Relations in Stanford’s School of Engineering. In this role he works with faculty and colleagues to advance the School's corporate partnership programs, build long-term relationships with companies, and increase the flow of industry support to the School through gifts, affiliate memberships, and sponsored research. He assists with the formation and growth of industrial affiliate programs that provide companies a portal for connecting with Stanford's research community in areas of shared interests.He serves on Advisory Board of many of Stanford's largest clubs and project-based student groups. Prior to joining Stanford Engineering he served as Senior Director of Program Development and External Partnerships at the San Jose State University Research Foundation where he facilitated increased support to San Jose State’s research and academic programs across multiple academic disciplines. He also held strategy, business development, marketing and sales positions during a successful career in the telecommunications sector. Prior career experience includes serving as Pacific Bell Sales Vice President and Director of Broadband Services, Strategy and Product Marketing He as been consultant to many tech-based entrepreneurial ventures and served as Director of Industry Relations for Silicon Valley start-up IPWireless. He has also provided business/market development and strategic consulting services to private and public sector, as well as non-profit clients. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from San Diego State University, and M.A. in Public Policy Analysis from Claremont Graduate University. He also was a Coro Public Affairs Leadership Fellow.

Julie Greicius

BioJulie Greicius is Associate Dean of Communications and Alumni Affairs for Stanford Engineering. She was previously Senior Director of External Communications for Stanford Medicine, where she led media relations, crisis communications/issue management, and trademark name use. An award-winning writer and editor, she joined the School of Medicine as media relations manager in early 2018. In her prior role, she was editorial director for Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, where she developed and managed stories across all platforms, assisted in the rebranding and website renewal for Stanford Children’s Health, and directed and managed brand voice and messaging. Her career with Stanford Medicine began in 2006 when she joined Stanford Children's as a freelance writer. She has since written numerous articles for Stanford Medicine magazine and other Stanford Medicine publications. She has an MFA in creative nonfiction from Columbia University.

Arash Hamzehlou

BioA graduate student at Stanford University, focusing on artificial intelligence for autonomous cyber-physical systems. Arash's current interests span embedded/edge AI for real-time systems including real-time inference and scheduling, resource-aware model optimization (quantization, pruning, distillation), and autonomous decision-making and control, including learning-based control and planning (MPC, safe/model-based RL, offline RL, POMDPs, TAMP, and world models). He is currently deepening broad AI studies while refining his research direction.
Arash’s professional background includes developing real-time, high-fidelity simulations and digital twins for NASA’s Space Launch System, spanning mission-critical hardware and RF communication subsystems. He plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Computer Science to build trustworthy intelligent systems that minimize human intervention across diverse real-world applications.

• AI Classifier – 1st Place, UF AI Challenge: Created the most accurate classification algorithm among 60 teams.
• Few-shot CV Model – 3rd Place, US Navy Surprise Challenge: Developed a CV algorithm for novel class generalization.
• Geospatial Analyst – Designed and developed Rodinia, an AI agent capable of interpreting semantic context from satellite imagery by analyzing geological positions, physical characteristics, and temporal cause-effect patterns across terrain and infrastructure.
• Vision Navigator – Conceptualized and prototyped an early-stage navigation system for autonomous drones, enabling real-time pathfinding and localization solely through visual input from onboard cameras.
• Handheld SPICE Simulator: Built a portable SPICE-based device; placed 4th in Minnesota STEM challenge 2019.
