Gita Chu Abhiraman

Resident in MedicineBioGita Abhiraman is a resident physician in Internal Medicine at Stanford in the Translational Investigator Program. She is interested in immune signaling and immune dysregulation in malignancy. She completed her MD and PhD at Stanford in the Medical Scientist Training Program. Her PhD in Immunology was advised by Dr. Chris Garcia, in which she studied cytokine signaling, immune receptor structure, and protein engineering. She was the recipient of a Hertz Fellowship during her graduate training. She previously solved the structure of the interleukin-21 signaling receptor complex. She also developed immune switch molecules called "cytokine adaptors" with applications in cancer and autoimmune disease. She has contributed to work on several other cytokines, including IL-21, IL-12, and IL-10, for diverse therapeutic applications. Prior to her graduate training, Gita completed a bachelor's degree in Physics with a focus in Biophysics at Harvard University. She previously conducted research in the lab of Dr. Stephanie Dougan at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

BioLeslie Adams, PhD, MPH is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Public Mental Health and Population Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she focuses on addressing mental health disparities among people of African descent and marginalized communities. As a behavioral scientist, her research emphasizes the role of structural racism, gender norms, and psychosocial stressors in influencing mental health outcomes. Dr. Adams employs mixed-methods approaches, including ecological momentary assessment and passive data sensing, to explore real-time stressors like racial discrimination and their link to depressive symptoms and suicidality. Prior to her role at Stanford, she served as an Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and was a David E. Bell Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies.

Nakul Aggarwal

Resident in Psychiatry and Behavioral SciencesBioNakul Aggarwal, MD, PhD, is a psychiatry resident on the research track at Stanford. He studies the mechanisms of neuroplasticity in very early development, with a focus on white matter and myelination, and how they can be engaged therapeutically — with the goal of not only treating but preventing psychiatric illness. Working across mice, nonhuman primates, and children, he combines multimodal neuroimaging with pharmacological repurposing and brain stimulation to identify when developing circuits are most tractable and whether intervening in those windows can shift the course of psychopathology. He completed his MD and PhD at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Chidi Akusobi

Fellow in Peds/Clinical InformaticsBioDr. Chidi Akusobi is a physician-scientist completing dual fellowship training in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Informatics at Stanford University School of Medicine. He holds an MD and a PhD in Microbiology from Harvard Medical School and completed internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. His research sits at the intersection of AI and infectious diseases, with a focus on developing and evaluating AI-enabled tools that strengthen infectious disease practice. Current project interests include clinical decision support for infection prevention and control, AI-backed electronic consultation for infectious diseases, and the application of ChatEHR to ID-specific chart review.

Daniel Kwasi Amponsah

BioDr. Daniel Amponsah was born and raised in Loma Linda, California. He graduated with a BS in Biochemistry from Pacific Union College in Northern California and received his MD from Loma Linda University School of Medicine where he graduated AOA. He completed his internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and was appointed the Simulation Chief his senior year. He is interested in pursuing an academic career in interventional cardiology with a focus on outcomes and health disparities. Prior research work has explored outcomes in ischemic time in patients with cardiogenic shock and STEMI with Dr. Anthony Hilliard, disparities in the management of aortic stenosis alongside Dr. Sammy Elmariah, defining type 2 MI using coronary CT with Dr. James Januzzi. He is presently engaged in assessing the potential applications of angiography-derived FFR and IMR across various coronary disease syndromes with Dr. Bill Fearon and investigating disparities in advanced structural interventions with Dr. Celina Yong.
