BioI have completed my PhD in Immunology from Yeungnam University, South Korea. I studied adaptive immune cells especially focusing T cells and its relation to autoimmunity and tumor. I worked on different conditional knockout mice to investigate the cellular mechanisms. Similarly, I worked on disease induced mice to study its preventive and therapeutic approaches. Currently, I am working on Translational immunology as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Stanford University department of Immunology and Rheumatology. I focus on Epstein-Barr Virus, B cells and its relation with various autoimmune diseases.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI am studying Flaviviridae viruses, focusing on dengue. My research explores T cell and myeloid dysregulation in severe dengue to improve vaccines and identify biomarkers. I'm characterizing T cell responses to DENV, and the regulatory immune response through integrative systems analysis. My ultimate goal is to contribute to the development of improved diagnostic tools and vaccines for pediatric infectious diseases, particularly in endemic regions like Brazil.

Alejandro Sandoval Lentisco

BioAlejandro completed his PhD in Psychology at the University of Murcia, Spain, in 2024. His doctoral research focused on assessing transparency and risk of bias in psychology meta-analyses. Prior to this, he obtained an MSc in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Granada, Spain. In addition to evaluating methodological practices in evidence synthesis and empirical studies, he is interested in a wide range of meta-scientific questions, such as how science self-corrects and how research should be evaluated.

BioSiddu Shivanagoudra is a postdoctoral scholar in the Spencer Lab investigating how gut microbiota-derived metabolites modulate intestinal immune signaling and barrier function. He holds an MS in Horticultural Sciences and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University. His work spans tryptophan metabolite biology, AHR/GPR35 signaling, and defined bacterial consortia, integrating cellular, transcriptomic, and metabolomic approaches. Siddu aims to translate these mechanistic insights into microbiome-targeted therapeutic strategies for inflammatory gut diseases.

Laura van Dam

BioI am both trained as a biomedical researcher and medical doctor in internal medicine and strive to close the gap between the clinic and fundamental sciences with translational research. My focus is to study the mechanisms of autoimmune diseases and to translate research insights into therapeutics targeting autoimmunity. I have received my PhD in 2022 in Leiden for studying neutrophil extracellular traps and autoreactive B cells in renal autoimmune diseases. My postdoctoral research project in the Robinson lab focuses on investigating the underlying molecular mechanisms of the pathogenesis of ANCA-associated vasculitis. I particularly aim to identify potential microbial triggers and molecular mimicry in ANCA-associated vasculitis, by characterizing the nasal microbiome and sequencing T cells and B cells of ANCA-associated vasculitis patients.

BioI am a post-doctoral researcher at Stanford University under supervision of Matthew Wheeler and Stephen Montgomery. My research focuses on understanding the entire spectrum of genetic variation effects on protein function and structure in order to decipher molecular mechanisms of disease.
My post-doctoral work centers on developing novel software methodologies which combine multi-omics data to interpret the functional impact of genetic variants in undiagnosed patients. I am part of the Undiagnosed Disease Network (UDN) at Stanford Center for Undiagnosed Diseases (CUD), Genomics Research to Elucidate the Genetics of Rare Diseases (GREGoR) consortium at GREGoR Stanford Site (GSS), and the Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Consortium (MoTrPAC) at the Bioinformatics Center (BIC).
Before joining Stanford. I was received my Ph.D. in 2021 at the Radboud University Medical Center under supervision of Christian Gilissen, Gert Vriend, and Joris Veltman. I received my MSc degree in 2014 at Radboud University under supervision of Tom Heskes, Evgeni Levin, and Armand Paauw. Before my Ph.D, I worked as a Data Scientist at FLXone, where I developed machine learning solutions within a large-scale, real-time infrastructure.
Research
I am interested in a variety of topics in Bioinformatics and Computer Science. In particular, I am interested in the application of Artificial Intelligence and Statistical Modelling to analyse human (Rare) Mendelian Disease Genetics, Evolutionary Comparative Genomics, Protein Domain Homology, and Molecular Structures. -
Mark Van Orden

BioMark Van Orden is a postdoctoral scholar at the Stanford School of Medicine. His research applies causal inference and natural experiments to questions at the intersection of economics and health. His current work examines how shingles vaccination affects brain structure using MRI data from the UK Biobank, providing the first causal neuroimaging evidence of how vaccination protects against dementia. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of California, Irvine.
