BioJessica E. Gonzalez, MSW is the Associate Director for the Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC) Network Coordinating Office (NCO). The MHTTC NCO is part of the Center for Dissemination and Implementation (CDI) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. Through the MHTTC School Mental Health Initiative, Jessica is coordinating the work of 12 centers that provide training and technical assistance to the mental health and school mental health workforce to increase the use of evidence-based mental health prevention, treatment, and recovery support services for students across the United States.
Jessica has worked in the community as a social worker providing mental health services in school and outpatient clinic settings to children and adolescents of diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. In addition, she has over 10 years of experience in project management and coordination for research and evaluation in the areas of early childhood learning and development, special education, post-secondary education attainment, and delivery of school mental health services. Jessica has also worked for several high school and college programs in the area seeking to improve educational outcomes for first-generation and low-income students of color. -

Heather Kenna Hall

BioHeather has been part of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford since 2002. She directly manages appointment matters related to Professoriate faculty and supervises a team of faculty affairs administrators who manage appointment matters for faculty on the Clinician Educator line and other faculty appointment lines in the Department. Further responsibilities include supervision of medical education team members and contributions to strategic planning and development of new departmental initiatives. Prior to her current work in faculty affairs, Heather was as a clinical research manager in the Stanford Depression Research Center and the Stanford Women’s Wellness Clinic. She has published 40+ research articles in psychiatry and neuroscience journals. Her education includes a Master of Science in Psychology, as well as a Master of Arts in Social Psychology.

She is also an Instructor (Affiliated) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis and completed her predoctoral clinical internship and postdoctoral research fellowship at VA Palo Alto Health Care System. Funded by VA Career Development Awards, Dr. Hallenbeck's research focuses on PTSD and depression and their impact on psychosocial functioning. She studies how to leverage digital health technology (e.g., mobile apps) and analytic tools (e.g., network analysis) to provide timely and personalized assessments and interventions.

Alesha Heath

BioDr. Alesha Heath is a Postdoctoral Scholar at Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford School of Medicine and the MIRECC the VA Palo Alto. She earned her PhD from the University of Western Australia and Sorbonne University.
Dr. Heath's research has been primarily focused on the mechanisms and applications of brain stimulation therapies, in particular repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation. Her research involves both basic and clinical components with the aim of improving the efficacy of these therapies for the treatment of disorders such as depression and Alzheimer's disease. -

Charlie Heriot-Maitland

BioDr Heriot-Maitland is a clinical psychologist, trainer, researcher, and author. He is an international expert in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and specifically the application of CFT for voice-hearing, trauma, and for people with psychosis and complex needs. Dr Heriot-Maitland is an experienced CFT therapist himself, and for the last 10 years has been leading the international development, research, and training of CFT for psychosis. His clinical research in this area has been mainly carried out at King’s College London and University of Glasgow, supported by funding from the UK Medical Research Council.
Dr Heriot-Maitland has published extensively on the theory and application of CFT in academic journals, produced videos and training materials, and has co-authored a self-help book on CFT for voice-hearers (Routledge, 2022). He has also developed novel and innovative interventions, based on CFT, for applications in different sectors (e.g., healthcare, social care, and education). Since 2012, he has been co-director of a UK organisation, Balanced Minds, which specialises in providing CFT therapy and resources for the general public and CFT training and supervision for professionals. He has been delivering training sessions at Stanford since 2019, and has held an Adjunct Lecturer appointment with the university since 2022. -

Max Kasun
Research Professional, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioMax Kasun works in the Roberts Ethics Lab and Kim Ethics Lab at Stanford, which use empirical methods to help anticipate, clarify and resolve ethical issues in modern biomedical research. He received his BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has interests in empirical and normative thought dedicated to increasing scientific understanding and societal appreciation of the nature, internal experience, and prevalence of mental illness and well-being, as well as in moral philosophy (e.g. justice, action, capability, neo-Aristotelianism, and pragmatism), cognitive and affective sciences, and philosophy of mind (e.g. embodiment and personhood). He has co-authored scientific, peer-reviewed articles and other scholarly work investigating ethical issues in research (e.g. authentic voluntarism in informed consent), medical education, public health, and neuroscience. His most recent contributions to NIH-funded scientific work (National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences; PI: Dr. Jane Kim) have focused on investigating ethical issues encountered in the design, development, and clinical integration of artificial intelligence, e.g., how environmental and cognitive factors shape appraisals of AI tools, clinical judgments, trust, and health decision-making.
Max is a co-author of several chapters in APA's Study Guide to DSM-5-TR (2024) including the chapters on bipolar and related disorders and personality disorders. He has provided editorial support for the peer-reviewed journal Academic Medicine and for two works on the subject of trauma and related interventions (United Nations, Springer). Previously, he served on leadership teams for the Stanford Mental Health Technology and Innovation Hub and Neurodiversity Project.
Max is currently working to develop a new Special Initiative of the Chair on Mental Health Care for Unhoused and Justice-Involved Persons (see https://med.stanford.edu/psychiatry/special-initiatives/mhuj.html). The initiative aims to bring together a community of scholars, public stakeholders, and health care professionals to help advance more humane and participatory inquiry and health policy in service of a population that faces profound controversy, health stigma, and scientific neglect. The initiative aims to improve how science is communicated to the public and policy decision-makers and to develop more evidence-based, pragmatic, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approaches to mental health care for unhoused persons, including those who have experienced episodic or cyclical involvement in the criminal and civil justice systems. -

BioDr. Steve Khachi is a double-board-certified psychiatrist specializing in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. He is the Founder and Medical Director of the Mind Study Center in Pasadena, California—an integrated mental health clinic offering psychotherapy, medication management, neuropsychological evaluations, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). His clinic emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, clinical excellence, and innovation in care delivery.
Dr. Khachi serves as Adjunct Clinical Faculty at both Stanford University and the University of Southern California (USC), where he teaches and supervises child psychiatry fellows and residents. He is passionate about education and mentorship, and is committed to advancing the next generation of clinicians.
Dr. Khachi completed his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Stanford University, where he served as Chief Fellow. He completed residency in General Psychiatry at UC San Diego, received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and earned his B.S. in Biochemistry–Molecular Biology from UC Santa Barbara. His additional training includes research fellowships at UCSF and the NIH/Howard Hughes Medical Institute. -
