Linxi Shi

BioI am a medical physicist and imaging scientist with over a decade of experience in CT imaging, algorithm development, and AI-driven reconstruction. I earned my Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where I developed novel artifact corrections and reconstruction algorithms for cone beam computed tomography, focusing on applications in breast cancer diagnosis and image-guided radiation therapy.
Following my doctoral studies, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the Stanford Cancer Imaging Training (SCIT) Program. Currently, I serves as a Senior Research Scientist in the Radiological Sciences Laboratory at Stanford University. My research focuses on developing advanced clinical translational x-ray and CT imaging systems, including algorithm design for tomographic reconstruction, artifact correction, and image processing for various imaging modalities. -

BioI'm a passionate designer with 19 years of experience in interface, print, and web design. I love to make things look, work, and act more efficiently. Some might call it compulsion...I like to call it passion. My mind and heart are always open to challenging design problems. I thrive on finding innovative solutions to complex situations.
I started my professional career as a Visual Designer at IBM for the Storage Systems Group. My work at IBM involved close interaction with our user experience designers. The team I was on developed a software interface to help facilitate storage administrators in monitoring their storage subsystems. We created an interface that allowed the admin to see storage system status at a glance using a drill down table as well as custom built icons. The work our team completed earned several US Patents.
In March 2008, I began my career at Stanford University School of Medicine. I started as a Temporary Visual Arts Specialist. In November 2010 I was hired on full time as the Web & Graphic Designer for the Department of Radiology. My work at Stanford is very gratifying. I never expected, as an artist, to have my work matter in a way that could help other people. With each new project, I am (in a small way) contributing to the research and development of new and innovative treatments for many of the most damaging diseases. My art helps the great minds of our department explain their thinking, their research, and their findings to others in their field. -

Current Role at StanfordMy current position is Senior Research Associate in the Radiological Sciences Laboratory and the Molecular Imaging Laboratory in the Department of Radiology at Stanford School of Medicine. I provide hardware, systems, and general technical support for a large group of Faculty members and many students and post docs in the development of advanced medical imaging, metabolic imaging and image-guided interventions. My training background is primarily in RF and electrical engineering. I have spent more than 25 years in the commercial diagnostic imaging industry. Most of the projects I am currently working on involve instrumentation for metabolic imaging using magnetic deuterium imaging. I am also involved in the development of Hybrid systems that combine Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance imaging. Other projects I am involved in use focused ultrasound for neuro-stimulation or drug delivery via blood brain barrier. I also provide RF coil design and support for small animal imaging and various research studies. I have ongoing collaborations with many other medical research institutes and Universities around the world. I currently have 45 issued US patents, and 100 pear reviewed publications.
