Allison Tamara Siebern
Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences - Sleep Medicine
BioDr. Allison Siebern, PhD, DAc, LAc, CBSM is a sleep medicine psychologist and neuroscience-based doctor of acupuncture specializing in sleep, mood, and neurological health. She is board certified in Behavioral Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Siebern is a pioneer in the field of integrative sleep health as she blends her training and expertise in neuroscience-based acupuncture, cognitive behavioral medicine, psychophysiology, near-infrared transcranial photobiomodulation and clinical neuroscience. Dr. Siebern's current integrative health research is on the intersection of scalp acupuncture and near-infrared transcranial photobiomodulation (tPBM) as neuromodulatory mechanisms to assist in improved symptom outcomes in neurodegenerative disorders and post-stroke recovery.
Dr. Siebern is currently a Sleep Medicine Psychologist and Behavioral Sleep Medicine Fellowship Track Director with the Durham VA Medical Center and the Director of Integrative Sleep Wake Health, PLLC. Dr. Siebern is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine in the Sleep Medicine Division where she completed the sleep fellowship from 2008 to 2010 and stayed on as full-time faculty until 2015 where she served as Associate Director and Co-Fellowship Training Director and then Director of the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program. She has been treating patients of all ages in the field of sleep medicine for 15 years. She consults with companies on sleep and neurological health science, is published in peer-reviewed journals, has given talks at national conferences, and has been interviewed with many media outlets. Dr. Siebern has a passion for the field of sleep health and believes in the importance of training future generations of sleep providers. -

Nicholas Siemons
Research Engineer
BioNicholas began his academic career by studying integrated Masters at University College, London. During this time he published his first article, "Multiple exciton generation in nanostructures for advanced photovoltaic cells" - a review of how to produce photovoltaics with greater than 100% internal efficiencies. Following this Nicholas began research into solar voltaics and organic batteries in the group of Prof. Jenny Nelson at Imperial College, London. During this time Nicholas developed his keen interest in how to relate the chemical design of polymers to their ability to function as battery electrode materials. To achieve this goal, Nicholas applies atomistic simulation methods to such polymer systems, and relates the simulated findings to experimental results, bridging the gap between chemistry and device properties. As well as linking molecular chemical design to device performance, Nicholas applies novel simulation and analysis methodologies to study these systems, including Molecular Dynamics, Density Functional Theory, Molecular Metadynamics and Network Analysis.

Oscar Silva

BioOscar is an academic hematopathologist who completed anatomic and clinical pathology residency and hematopathology fellowship at Stanford in 2020. Prior to Stanford, he received his MD and PhD from UCLA. His interests include immunology, the pathogenesis and diagnosis of lymphomas, and global health.

Ruwan Silva, MD, MPhil

Clinical Assistant Professor (By courtesy), NeurosurgeryBioProfessor Ruwan Amila Silva, MD, MPhil is board certified and fellowship trained vitreoretinal surgeon in the department of ophthalmology at Stanford University Medical Center. He received his BA in Neurobiology from Harvard University graduating Magna cum laude with Highest Honors. He then received his Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) in Neurobiology from Cambridge University in England. Following this, he received his medical degree from Stanford University’s School of Medicine. Dr. Silva completed his ophthalmology residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the top rated eye hospital in the country. While there he was awarded the Heed Fellowship, the most prestigious national award for ophthalmology residents in the country. Dr. Silva returned to Stanford University to complete his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship where he was awarded the Ronald G. Michels Foundation Award, the nation’s highest honor for a retina surgery fellow. During his fellowship at Stanford he was also awarded the prestigious Evangelos S. Gragoudas Award by the Macula Society. Following fellowship, Dr. Silva remained at Stanford University's School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Vitreoretinal Surgery in the Department of Ophthalmology. Since 2015, he has been named one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” by Consumers’ Research Council of America. He was also selected as a "Top Ophthalmologist" by the International Association of Ophthalmologists.
Dr. Silva's clinical practice focuses mainly on macular degeneration and retinal vascular disease (such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions and central serous retinopathy). Surgically, he specializes in diseases of the vitreous and retina: including repair of retinal detachments, surgery for the macula (such as treatment of epiretinal membranes and macular holes) and correction of dislocated intraocular lenses. His research interests mainly involve developing novel therapies for these diseases (http://med.stanford.edu/artificial-retina.html) and have resulted in over 50 combined peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, book chapters and national meeting presentations.
Dr. Silva is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, as well as the American Society of Retina Specialists. He is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
