Caleb Matthew Spiro

BioMy main research interest revolves around understanding the general cognitive and affective properties of the mind, and how the prognosis of good and poor mental health status affects the developmental trajectories under chronic stress. To what extent reward-based networks can lead to increased proximity to vulnerability or heightened sensitivity to mental illness, specifically within the context of youth and adolescents, is an area that I am especially interested in. I am most interested in what factors help individuals become more resilient and build a narrative that they can get better with the right treatment practices. I believe that this can be done by combining neuroscience and functional imaging techniques (ex: fMRI, EEG) into the study and practice of clinical psychology.

Student Worker, Ethics In SocietyBioAdam Spitzig is a PhD candidate in Environment and Resources (E-IPER) at Stanford University’s Doerr School of Sustainability. He is a historical ecologist and data scientist whose research examines long-term biodiversity dynamics and their human drivers.
His work integrates paleoecological data (especially fossil pollen records), archaeological and historical sources, geospatial analysis, and statistical modeling to understand when and how human societies have increased, maintained, or reduced biodiversity. He is particularly interested in identifying cases of sustained anthropogenic biodiversity expansion and examining the institutional, economic, infrastructural, and land-use processes that produced them. His work also explores how long-term ecological knowledge can inform contemporary conservation and restoration strategy.
Before beginning his PhD, he led ecological modeling and machine learning initiatives in conservation and technology organizations, including Ducks Unlimited and several data-driven startups.
He holds a Master in Public Administration from Harvard University, a Master of Information & Data Science from UC Berkeley, a Master of Environmental Management and a Juris Doctor from Duke University, and a BA from the University of Florida. -
Suhas Srinivasan, Ph.D.

BioI develop computational algorithms including AI/ML and statistical methods to discover insights at various resolutions of the biological hierarchy i.e., molecules, cells, tissues, organs, organism and population-scale.
In my current role in the laboratories of Paul Khavari and Howard Chang I conduct bioinformatics research to study the molecular mechanisms of tissue development, cancers, autoimmunity and chronic diseases using multiomics, with a focus on the non-coding genome.
I have ten years of academic research experience and received my Ph.D. in Data Science specializing in AI/ML development for diverse topics in biomedicine.
My research interests include artificial intelligence to identify novel patterns in multiomics data, psychometrics and neuroimaging data; structural bioinformatics and computational epidemiology. Additionally, I have conducted research in anomaly detection, and community detection in biological networks.
I am the co-inventor of a patented anomaly detection method for real-time streaming data.
Prior to graduate training and academic research, I was a full-stack software engineer in industry for three years. -

She teaches 'Integration into Spanish Society: Service Learning and Professional Opportunities' in the Bing Overseas Studies Program in Madrid. She was born in Granada, Spain to US American parents, and has lived extensively in both countries as a child and as an adult. Over the past twenty years she has worked in the field of international and intercultural education and business. Almendra’s professional focus is cross-cultural understanding through coaching, education and training. She co-authored En clase, en el trabajo, entre la gente, a book commissioned by the European Union's Leonardo da Vinci Mobility Programme on perfecting foreign language, interpersonal and intercultural skills through internships abroad. Almendra is a Qualified Administrator (QA) of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI ®), one of the most widely used tools for assessing and developing intercultural competence at the individual, group, and organizational levels. She is also a Senior Facilitator of the cross cultural and transitions methodology Personal Leadership, Making a World of Difference®. Almendra holds a Bachelor's degree from New York University in Art History, an MBA from the Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles, an institution associated with the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and the Madrid Stock Exchange, as well as an MA in Social Anthropology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She has served as the SIETAR Spain President. SIETAR is the Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research, and international network of professionals dedicated to the intercultural field.

Alex Stamos

BioAlex Stamos is a Lecturer in Computer Science and International Relations and teaches CS152 - Trust and Safety and INTPOL 268 - Intro to Cybersecurity. He has had a long career in the cybersecurity field, founding two companies (iSEC Partners and the Krebs Stamos Group) and serving as the Chief Security Officer of Yahoo, Facebook and SentinelOne. Between his CSO roles he founded the Stanford Internet Observatory, which conducted some of the first research on AI and child safety, created the first collegiate trust and safety computer-science course, and founded the Journal of Online Trust and Safety and the Stanford Trust and Safety Research Conference.
Alex has spoken at the Munich Security Conference, NATO CyCon, DEF CON, Berkeley Data Edge, Blue Hat, CanSecWest, and keynoted USENIX Security, Web Summit and Black Hat and was a member of the DHS Cybersecurity Advisory Council, the Annan Commission on Elections and Democracy and the Aspen Commission on Information Disorder. He is a member of the Aspen Institute’s Cyber Security Task Force, the Bay Area CSO Council and the Council on Foreign Relations. Alex also served on the advisory board to NATO’s Collective Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in Tallinn, Estonia.
Stamos has a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He lives in the Bay Area with his wife and children. -

BioKirsten Stasio is CEO of the Nevada Clean Energy Fund (NCEF), Nevada's nonprofit green bank. She also serves as an Adjunct Lecturer at Stanford University, where she co-teaches Understand Energy, a course that gives students the knowledge and tools to engage in the energy and sustainability sectors.
Throughout her career, Kirsten has strived to translate her life-long passion for environmental sustainability into real impact across the policy, education, corporate, and investment sectors. Before joining NCEF, Kirsten worked at MAP Energy, an energy investment firm, where she helped scale investments in renewable energy across the US. Her early career began at the World Resources Institute (WRI), a non-profit, where she worked with policymakers and other stakeholders to implement climate finance solutions. While getting her graduate degree at Stanford, Kirsten worked at Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) where she helped launched a new energy efficiency initiative with large businesses in the Bay Area. Kirsten also worked at Apple to implement energy measures at Apple's headquarters, retail stores, and data centers.
Kirsten began teaching at Stanford in early 2015 after graduating from Stanford with an MBA and an MS degree in the Emmet-Interdisciplinary Program on Environment and Resources (E-IPER). Kirsten also earned a dual BA in International Relations and French from the University of California, Davis.
The origins of Kirsten's passion for sustainability trace back to her childhood when she spent time on her family’s fourth-generation ranch in the Sierra Nevada foothills, a place where she enjoys spending time today with her husband and daughter. -
