Neha Patel, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Oncology
BioDr. Neha Patel is a triple board-certified, fellowship-trained medical oncologist with Stanford Health Care. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Patel provides expert, personalized care for patients with both common and rare cancers and specializes in treating patients with genitourinary cancer. She is deeply committed to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered oncology services, with an emphasis on helping individuals and their families understand their diagnosis and navigate treatment options with confidence and clarity.
Her research focuses on designing and implementing system-level interventions to advance equitable, high-value cancer care. Nidhi Utkarshbhai Patel

BioPlants display enormous diversity of forms today that, have evolved over geological timescales after plants successfully colonized land. Currently, I am interested in learning more about evolutionary changes in plant structures including specialized reproductive organs of seed plants. I study plant fossil record from deep time and living plants with the aim to develop a better understanding of origins of plant reproductive structures and drivers of morphological evolution in plants. Previously, I have looked at spore-pollen record preserved in sedimentary rocks from Canada. These microscopic fossils and their distribution in space and time can help us elucidate the response of vegetation to past extinction events.

Shruti Patel, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Oncology
BioDr. Shruti R. Patel is a board-certified, fellowship-trained medical oncologist at Stanford Health Care. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Patel specializes in treating gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, including colorectal, pancreatic, stomach, esophageal, and biliary tract cancers. She is dedicated to helping patients make complex treatment decisions and improving access to clinical trials. Her care philosophy centers on clear communication, individualized treatment, and helping patients understand both the science and real-life implications of cancer care.
Dr. Patel’s research interests include early-onset GI cancers, fertility preservation approaches, and improving access to novel therapies. She also studies sex- and gender-based differences in cancer outcomes and equity in clinical trials. Dr. Patel has received funding for her research through the Stanford Cancer Institute’s Innovation Award.
Dr. Patel’s research has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Clinical Oncology, Frontiers in Oncology, Translational Lung Cancer Research, and JAMA Oncology.
Dr. Patel is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). She is also a board member of the Association of Northern California Oncologists (ANCO). -

BioVishal Patel joins Lane Medical Library from a career spanning clinical AI product development, healthcare analytics, and luxury wellness hospitality. He holds an MD and PhD (genetics) from Case Western Reserve University and a BS in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech. Most recently, he served as President and Chief Science & Innovation Officer at Sensei, leading technology, R&D, and scientific affairs. His prior work includes building NLP-powered clinical products at Pieces Technologies, teaching clinical informatics at Case Western Reserve, and founding Phronos, a research studio developing computational tools to measure AI's effects on human cognition. At Lane, he leads digital strategy for the library's 43-million-record biomedical search infrastructure, with a focus on augmenting knowledge discovery while preserving the critical role of libraries in the evidence-based practice of medicine and science. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Men's Wellbeing Initiative at the Global Wellness Institute.

Achyut Patil, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Medicine
BioDr. Achyut Patil is a board-certified pulmonologist at Stanford Health Care and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.
He diagnoses and treats disorders of the lungs and respiratory system, including pneumonia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In addition, Dr. Patil performs various pulmonary and critical care procedures. These include bronchoscopy (viewing the airways with a camera scope) and catheterization (placing a thin tube into a blood vessel for monitoring), among others.
Dr. Patil’s research interests include improving the experience of medical school trainees. He is also involved in teaching resident and fellow physicians.

Ankita Patil

BioAnkita Patil is a public health researcher focused on advancing health equity through a social justice–centered framework. She holds a B.A. in Social Psychology from The College of New Jersey and an M.S. in Community Health and Prevention Research from Stanford University. Her research experience includes work at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Johns Hopkins University, where she examined the health impacts of incarceration, trauma-informed care, and reproductive health among incarcerated populations. Ankita is a co-author of an American Public Health Association policy statement calling for an end to shackling incarcerated patients and has peer-reviewed work on COVID-19 in Massachusetts prisons. Her work bridges research, policy, and community-based advocacy to advance humane public health solutions.

Staff, Med/Residency and Educational ProgramsBioTeja Patil completed her MD and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco and an MPH in Epidemiology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She has been a hospital medicine attending since 2015 and serves at the Director of Nocturnists and Director of Surgical Comanagement at VA Palo Alto.
Her professional interests include medical education, night medicine and physician wellness. She coteaches the Resiliency Curriculum Series for the internal medicine residency program and is a certified Physician Coach.
