Vedant Pargaonkar
Basic Life Research Scientist, Medicine - Med/Cardiovascular Medicine
BioMy long-term research interests involve development of algorithms using computational methods for early detection of coronary pathophysiology including, endothelial dysfunction and microvascular dysfunction (MVD) and/or a myocardial bridge (MB) in patients with angina and no obstructive coronary artery disease (NOCAD) and the identification of novel target therapies for primary prevention and improved prognosis in these patients. Under the mentorship of Dr. Jennifer Tremmel in Cardiovascular medicine at Stanford, I have been systematically studying to better understand the underlying pathophysiology of these patients, as well as the optimal use of diagnostic testing and treatment using the angina and no-obstructive CAD Registry at Stanford. In collaboration with other investigators in this field, we have published multiple scientific articles highlighting the limitations of current testing in this population and identification of novel diagnostic tools for early diagnosis and management of patients with angina and no obstructive CAD. My research also focuses on myocardial infarction (MI) in women, particularly spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD). I have been involved in the design and execution of the first international collaborative study in SCAD, investigating peripartum vs. non-peripartum SCAD. This is analyzing the largest cohort of patients recruited from multiple US and non-US sites to understand the pathophysiological differences in these patient cohorts.

Mitchel Pariani
Clinical Assistant Professor (Affiliated), Pediatrics - Genetics
BioMitchel earned his Master’s degree in genetic counseling from California State University, Northridge in 2007. At Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Mitchel served as genetic counselor and coordinator for David Rimoin, MD, PhD’s connective tissue disorders clinic and later established the cardiovascular genetics program at CSMC. At CSMC he also created the CSMC Summer Genetic Counseling Rotation Program that hosted students from genetic counseling programs around the United States. In 2014 he joined the new Stanford Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease to start a familial hypercholesterolemia clinic and provide genetic counseling for patients with cardiomyopathies. As the center expanded, Mitchel joined the Stanford Marfan Center as a genetic counselor and serves as program coordinator. He is the primary instructor for Stanford’s Cardiovascular Genetics course and serves as a clinical supervisor and mentor for students and volunteers.

Divya Parikh, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Oncology
BioDr. Divya Parikh is board-certified in both medical oncology and internal medicine. She obtained her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completed both her residency and fellowship through Stanford University. During her fellowship, she simultaneously earned a Master of Science in health policy from Stanford University.
Dr. Parikh specializes in the care of patients with genitourinary cancers. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she currently is a clinical assistant professor of medical oncology at Stanford School of Medicine. She mentors medical residents and fellows by sharing her insights, knowledge, and expertise.
Dr. Parikh has a strong research background. She has published in multiple academic journals and presented her findings through poster and oral presentations at various medical conferences. -
Victoria Parikh, MD
Associate Professor of Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine)
BioDr. Parikh is a clinician scientist who cares for patients with and studies inherited (genetic) cardiovascular disease. She is the director of the Stanford Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease (SCICD) which is one of the largest of its kind in the country. SCICD integrates clinical and basic science with the expert care of patients with genetic cardiovascular conditions (e.g., cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias and vascular diseases). It provides cutting edge care for thousands of patients and families across the lifespan and integrates medical, surgical and genetics care. Our team includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, genetic counselors, exercise physiologists and scientists.
Dr. Parikh's own clinical practice and laboratory are focused on the genetics of cardiomyopathies and their associated arrhythmogenic substrates. She completed clinical cardiology fellowship at Stanford School of Medicine and her medical residency at the University of California, San Francisco. Funded by multiple research grants from the NIH, her lab seeks to identify novel mechanisms and therapeutic technologies for genetic cardiomyopathy as well as better understand the natural histories of patients affected by these diseases. -
Emily R. Paris
Research Asst - Graduate, Earth System Science
BioEmily is a graduate student with Anne Dekas at Stanford University and recently defended her PhD thesis on the limits of microbial life in hypersaline environments. In 2020, she earned her bachelor's degree in Biochemistry & Cell Biology with a minor in Marine Sciences from UC San Diego. As an undergraduate, she worked with Bradley Moore at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography to develop a technique for isolating previously unculturable marine microbes that could be used in pharmaceutical development. Now her research is based on culture-independent techniques, including single-cell analysis with nanoSIMS, microscopy, and fluorescence-activated cell sorting. Emily has completed eight research cruises and one land-based field expedition since 2019. Two of these field projects included snorkeling with orcas above the Arctic circle to understand how environmental change affects their bioacoustics and behavioral patterns and sampling Mars-analogue acidic brine lakes in Western Australia to look for signs of extreme microbial life in support of NASA’s future life detection missions. Aside from her PhD work, Emily has supported research aimed at increasing the safety of human spaceflight as a volunteer test subject for NASA. She is also a certified scientific SCUBA diver and enjoys rock climbing, backpacking, and piloting gliders in her free time.

Albert Park, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine
BioAlbert Park, MD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor and academic hospitalist in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. He earned his MD from Harvard Medical School and completed his internal medicine residency at Stanford, where he subsequently served as Chief Resident.
His academic interests span clinical outcomes research and medical education. He approaches research through retrospective and observational methods, with interests that include infectious disease and critical care. As an educator, he is drawn to bedside teaching and clinical reasoning, and has worked with medical students and residents across inpatient settings throughout his training. Clinically, he is dedicated to ensuring that patients and families feel informed and supported throughout their hospitalization, with a particular commitment to translating the complexity of acute illness into clear, accessible language. -
David J. Park, MD, PhD, FCNS

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsThe goal of our Laboratory is to improve patients’ care and outcomes by analyzing clinical data from thousands of patients treated at our institution. Our current primary areas of interest are benign tumors, brain and spine metastases, and neurogenetic disorders.

Eujin Park
Assistant Professor of Education
BioDr. Park is an Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University. Dr. Park draws upon critical theories of racialization, Asian American Studies, and community engaged research to examine how Asian American families negotiate with race in and through educational institutions. She recently conducted an ethnographic investigation of community-based educational spaces in the Chicago-area Asian American community, which highlighted the role of community spaces in youths’ educational experiences and understandings of racializing discourses. In addition to publishing and presenting her work in multiple academic venues, Dr. Park draws upon her research in her work with Asian American and other youth of color in community-based organizations. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a concentration in Social Sciences and a Minor in Qualitative Methods. She also holds an M.A. from UW-Madison and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Park was an IDEAL Provostial Fellow, part of the inaugural cohort of early-career scholars of race and ethnicity at Stanford University. Prior to that, she was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy (IRRPP) at the University of Illinois-Chicago. -
Hyun Suk Park 朴賢淑 (she/her)
Assistant Professor of East Asian Languages and Cultures
BioMy primary field of research is Korean literature and culture from the seventeenth through the nineteenth century. As a scholar of Korean literature both in Korean and literary Sinitic (hanmun 漢文) by training, my research is deeply engaged with the East Asian cultural tradition. My research interests include the intersections between literature and performance, the history of gender and sexuality, the comparative history of slavery, and the cultural history of natural disasters in early modern East Asia and beyond.
My first book manuscript, Precarious Spectacle: Martial Courtesans, State Slavery, and the Ritual Production of Royal Authority in Chosŏn Korea (forthcoming; Harvard University Asia Center, 2027), explores the cultural production of government courtesans (kwan’gi 官妓) at the nexus of the studies of slavery, gender, and performance in Korean literature. In this work, I illuminate how the spectacular performances of courtesans, offered in state events, were involved in the constitution and reproduction of state power of Chosŏn. I also examine how courtesan performances represent state power as multivalent and unstable through the frequent incorporation of heterogeneous elements, as exemplified by martial entertainment offered by cross-dressing courtesans.
I am currently in the process of designing a new research project that explores the same-sex intimacy created by the practice of letter writing between the literati of Chosŏn and Qing outside of diplomatic venues. I am also developing a long-term research project in environmental humanities that focuses on climate disasters in seventeenth-century East Asia and explores the new methodologies of writing a literary and cultural history that considers climate as an actant.
Before joining Stanford in 2025, I have taught at UCLA (2018–2025), Seoul National University (2016–2018), and UC Berkeley (2013–2016). -

Prior to joining Stanford University, Jee-Young was a Korean Studies Librarian at the University of Chicago. She is a graduate of the San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science and the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese Language and Culture.

Joon Sung Park

BioJoon Sung Park is a computer science PhD student in the Human-Computer Interaction and Natural Language Processing groups at Stanford University. His work introduces the concept of, and the techniques for building generative agents -- computational software agents that simulate human behavior. His work has won best paper awards at UIST and CHI, as well as multiple best paper nominations and other paper awards at CHI, CSCW, and ASSETS, and has been reported in venues such as Nature, Science, NBC, The New York Times, The Times, and The Guardian. Joon is recognized with the Microsoft Research Ph.D. Fellowship (2022), Terry Winograd Fellowship (2021), and Siebel Scholar Award (2019).

Junyoung Park
Postdoctoral Scholar, Neurology and Neurological Sciences
BioDr. Jun Young graduated from the Department of Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, Seoul National University, Korea. His major field of study is biostatistics, with a specific focus on the application of machine learning and statistical analysis to medical imaging and genetic data. During his doctoral studies, he concentrated on two primary research areas. Firstly, he dedicated himself to the development of deep learning models for medical images, primarily centered on T1-MRI and cognitive function test images related to Alzheimer's Disease. Secondly, he engaged in extensive genome-wide association analyses of medical images associated with Alzheimer's Disease, using statistical algorithms to uncover novel insights into the genetic factors contributing to this complex condition. Currently, as a postdoctoral fellow at the Greicius Lab at Stanford, he aims to develop statistical methods to discover novel structural variants and model polygenetic risk scores using long-read sequencing data.

BioPrior to joining Genentech in 2018, Dr. Park was Associate Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, Co-Director of the IBD Center at Stanford Children’s Health, and an expert in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Currently, he is the Global Head of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Metabolism in Product Development at Genentech and Roche. Trained as a health economist, during his tenure in academia, Dr Park held research grants and funding support focused on the cost-effectiveness of biologic treatment strategies and novel non-invasive biomarkers for children and adults with IBD. He led national research registries at the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation and scientific/clinical committees in numerous GI societies and physicians’ organizations. He received his BA in chemistry/biochemistry at Duke University, MD at University of Tennessee, and MSc in Health Economics/Policy at Stanford where he completed his clinical and postdoctoral trainings. He is Adjunct Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Stanford University. At Genentech Roche, Dr. Park directs a team of clinical scientists and medical directors overseeing clinical phase drug development in gastroenterology, hepatology, and metabolism.

BioDr. Park is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Division of Computational Medicine at Stanford University, where he is co-advised by Dr. Tina Hernandez-Boussard and Dr. Yair Bannet. He received his PhD in Biomedical and Health Informatics from the University of Washington.
His research focuses on clinical natural language processing and large language models for healthcare. He develops clinically grounded information extraction methods and evaluation frameworks that reflect real-world clinical workflows. His work examines how large language models can be aligned with clinical reasoning and rigorously evaluated for safe and effective deployment in health systems.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration, Dr. Park aims to bridge advances in foundation models with measurable clinical impact, emphasizing reliability, transparency, and scalability in AI-driven healthcare applications.
