Janice Lin
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Immunology & Rheumatology
BioDr. Lin specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatologic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, myositis, gout, and seronegative spondyloarthropathies. She received additional training in autoimmune skin diseases and has a special clinical and research interest for psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis, dermatomyositis, cutaneous lupus/systemic lupus. She leads a combined rheumatology-dermatology clinic with Dr. Matthew Lewis in the dermatology department to take care patients collaboratively. Dr. Lin is a graduate of USSONAR (Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists) program and performs diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound evaluation and interventions. In addition to her clinical work, she leads the quality improvement effort for the division and her most recent projects are focused on patient-reported outcome in rheumatoid arthritis and vaccinations for patients in the rheumatology clinic.

BioI am a postdoctoral researcher at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where I work with Michele Gelfand on cross-cultural research examining trust, cooperation, and social norms. I received my PhD in Social Psychology from Beijing Normal University and previously held a postdoctoral position at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. My research investigates how cultural contexts shape trust and cooperative behavior across societies. I use methods such as cross-country diary studies, longitudinal designs, and large-scale surveys to examine cultural dynamics at both individual and societal levels.

Kathie S Lin
Clinical Assistant Professor, Adult Neurology
BioDr. Kathie Lin is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurological Sciences at Stanford University. She is board certified in Neurology and Neuromuscular Medicine after completing her residency at Harvard Neurology Program at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and advanced fellowship training at Stanford. She practices both Neuromuscular Medicine and Comprehensive Neurology in Emeryville and Palo Alto. She has a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disease including neuromuscular junction disorders, motor neuron disease, and focal neuropathy. Additionally, she is interested in medical education and developing a practical framework for teaching neurology and neurophysiology to medical students and neurology residents.
She is the Neuromuscular Division teaching lead, arranging neuromuscular education for neurology residents. She is also an Assistant Program Director of the Stanford Adult Neurology Residency Program. -
Kenneth Michael Lin, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Orthopaedic Surgery
BioDr. Kenneth Lin is an orthopaedic surgeon and clinical assistant professor at Stanford University School of Medicine. He specializes in sports medicine. Dr. Lin has clinical expertise in minimally invasive and reconstructive techniques of the knee, shoulder, and elbow. As a former college athlete, he understands the demands and challenges facing athletes of all ages and competition levels.
Following his undergraduate studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Lin attended medical school at Washington University in St. Louis. He attended residency at the renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Upon graduation, Dr. Lin received the Thomas P. Sculco Award, selected by hospital staff, for exemplary service and exceptional core values. In addition, his peers selected him to receive the Jean C. McDaniel Award for leadership, professionalism, and ethics in patient care. As a Sports Medicine fellow at Stanford, Dr. Lin received special training in complex knee, shoulder, elbow, and hip conditions.
He treats chronic conditions, sports injuries, and traumatic injuries affecting the arm and leg. Dr. Lin has expertise in treating complex knee, shoulder, and elbow conditions, as well as injuries of the hip and ankle. He specializes in joint preservation, tendon/ligament repair and reconstruction, cartilage restoration, and fracture care. Dr. Lin uses nonsurgical, arthroscopic and traditional open surgery techniques. He takes a minimally invasive approach to achieve the greatest recovery with the least invasive treatment.
Dr. Lin has academic research interests in the clinical, basic science, and biomechanical foundations of injury, healing, and rehabilitation. He continues to participate in clinical outcomes research and laboratory research. His research focus is developing new surgical techniques and harnessing emerging technologies for both surgical and nonsurgical treatment. He also has special interest in understanding the biological basis of healing and regeneration of tendons, ligaments, and cartilage.
He has presented at numerous regional, national, and international conferences. He has authored or co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters.
Dr. Lin is a Bay Area native who enjoys surfing, traveling, and being outdoors. He loves coaching, playing, and watching sports. Dr. Lin has provided medical coverage for various types of sporting events. He has also served as a team physician for multiple high schools and junior colleges. Dr. Lin previously served as the assistant team physician for Stanford University Athletics. -
Margaret Chin-Chin Lin

BioDr. Margaret Lin is a board certified radiologist with subspecialty training in thoracic and cardiovascular imaging. Dr. Lin specializes in diseases affecting the lungs and airways, including cancer, infection, and interstitial and inhalational lung diseases. Mike Lin is an investor, engineer, and serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in design thinking, startups, and venture capital. Mike is a Lecturer at Stanford's Doerr School of Sustainability, where he teaches SUST 234: Integrative Design and Entrepreneurship for Sustainability.
Mike is also co-founder and General Partner at Dangerous Ventures. Dangerous invests in early-stage startups building a more sustainable and resilient future. Dangerous focuses on scalable systems-transforming solutions that empower people, the planet, and society to be more resilient and thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
Prior to working in venture capital, he was Founder and CEO of Fenix International, a renewable energy and fintech startup that currently powers over 15.5 million people across nine countries. He raised over $45M in venture capital and venture debt, developed patented energy technologies, and forged strategic partnerships with Google and the world’s largest mobile telecoms, including Vodafone, Orange, and MTN, to deliver life-changing energy to frontier markets. Fenix grew to over 350 employees and was successfully acquired in April 2018 by Engie, one of the world’s largest utilities.
Mike believes that business can be a vehicle for positive change, combining his passion for social and environmental prosperity with design thinking, business strategy, and new product development. He is a serial entrepreneur and worked at Makani Power (acquired by Google) and Squid Labs, a startup studio (Instructables, acquired by Autodesk). He has worked with Apple on climate change and environmental technologies, Al Gore on the “Inconvenient Truth” presentation, and lectured on green design and entrepreneurship at Stanford and Yale.
Mike has six patents, has received over $1.7M in grants from the US Environmental Protection Agency and UK Government, awards from the Rockefeller Foundation, Aspen Institute, BusinessWeek, and Popular Science, and has been featured in The New York Times, Bloomberg, Forbes, Wired, The Guardian, and others. Mike earned an MS and BS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.

BioSong Lin grew up in Tianjin, China. After obtaining B.S. from Peking University in 2008, he pursued graduate studies at Harvard University working with Eric Jacobsen. He then carried out postdoctoral studies with Chris Chang at UC Berkeley. He started his independent career at Cornell University in 2016 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021 and Tisch University Professor in 2023. He then joined Stanford University as a Professor of Chemistry in 2026. Song has received several early-career awards, including the Sloan Fellowship, ACS Cope Scholar, National Fresenius Award, Tetrahedron Young Investigator Award, Thieme–IUPAC Prize, Cottrell Scholar Award, Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award, NSF CAREER Award, MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35, BMS Unrestricted Grant, Lilly Research Award, and EPA Green Chemistry Challenge. His dedication to education has been recognized with a Stephen and Margery Russell Distinguished Teaching Award from Cornell University and a Nobel Laureate Signature Award for Graduate Education in Chemistry from the American Chemical Society. BioDr. Stacy Lin is a licensed psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences who provides culturally-informed psychotherapy for the treatment of emotion dysregulation, eating disorders, and trauma. Yang Lin

BioYang Lin is a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Andreas Tolias in the Department of Ophthalmology at Stanford University, where she joined in February 2024. She is also a member of the Enigma Project at Stanford.
Yang received her Ph.D. in 2023 from the IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research at Tsinghua University, where she trained under Dr. Song-Hai Shi. Her doctoral work focused on cortical development, investigating how developmental neuronal origin regulates neocortical map formation and characterizing the behavior and lineage progression of neural progenitors in the mammalian cortex.
As a postdoc, Yang has made a significant transition from developmental neuroscience into systems and computational neuroscience, focusing on how the visual brain supports active, goal-directed behavior. She currently leads behavioral and electrophysiological mice experiments in the Tolias lab. -
Yu Lin

BioDr. Lin is a staff scientist at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and a PI at the Stanford Institute for Materials and Energy Sciences (SIMES) at SLAC. Her research centers on utilizing a suite of in situ probes, particularly X-ray tools, to understand the behavior of complex materials under extreme conditions. Andrei Linde

BioWhat is the origin and the global structure of the universe?
For a long time, scientists believed that our universe was born in the big bang, as an expanding ball of fire. This scenario dramatically changed during the last 35 years. Now we think that initially the universe was rapidly inflating, being in an unstable energetic vacuum-like state. It became hot only later, when this vacuum-like state decayed. Quantum fluctuations produced during inflation are responsible for galaxy formation. In some places, these quantum fluctuations are so large that they can produce new rapidly expanding parts of the universe. This process makes the universe immortal and transforms it into a multiverse, a huge fractal consisting of many exponentially large parts with different laws of low-energy physics operating in each of them.
Professor Linde is one of the authors of inflationary theory and of the theory of an eternal inflationary multiverse. His work emphasizes the cosmological implications of string theory and supergravity.

Brian Linde, MD
Clinical Associate Professor, Medicine - Primary Care and Population Health
BioDr. Linde is a double board-certified, fellowship-trained internal medicine doctor with the Department of Medicine, Division of Primary Care & Population Health at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is board certified in both internal medicine and occupational and environmental medicine. He is fellowship trained in occupational and environmental medicine.
Dr. Linde specializes in preventing, managing, and treating work-related injuries and diseases. He uses his expertise to improve the physical and mental wellness of his patients while reducing their exposure to occupational and environmental hazards. As a public health expert, Dr. Linde also focuses on enhancing the health of entire populations through strategies and policies that benefit communities as a whole.
His academic interests include inhalational exposures and occupational lung diseases. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Linde studied how to increase adherence to infection prevention recommendations in clinical settings. He has also worked on guidance related to exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). These chemicals, which are found in water, food, and fabrics, are an ongoing public health concern. Dr. Linde has also researched how to improve the mental and physical health of medical students and ways to prevent physician burnout.
Dr. Linde has published in many peer-reviewed journals, including Current Opinion in Pulmonary Medicine and Academic Medicine. As a member of the Committee on the Guidance on PFAS Testing and Health Outcomes, Dr. Linde contributed to Guidance on PFAS Exposure, Testing, and Clinical Follow-Up, a publication of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. He was also a reviewer for Archives of Environmental & Occupational Health and the American Journal of Industrial Medicine.
He has written book chapters for Modern Occupational Diseases: Diagnosis, Epidemiology, Management and Prevention and Patty’s Industrial Hygiene. He wrote about preventing occupational and environmental pulmonary disorders for the Merck Manuals Professional Edition. Dr. Linde has been invited to speak at workshops and presentations all over the nation about a range of topics, including environmental health risks in underserved communities and the health effects of floods.
Dr. Linde is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He is also a member of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. -
Aaron Lindenberg
Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and of Photon Science
BioLindenberg's research is focused on visualizing the ultrafast dynamics and atomic-scale structure of materials on femtosecond and picosecond time-scales. X-ray and electron scattering and spectroscopic techniques are combined with ultrafast optical techniques to provide a new way of taking snapshots of materials in motion. Current research is focused on the dynamics of phase transitions, ultrafast properties of nanoscale materials, and charge transport, with a focus on materials for information storage technologies, energy-related materials, and nanoscale optoelectronic devices.

Christian Linder

On Leave from 04/01/2026 To 06/30/2026BioChristian Linder is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and, by courtesy, of Mechanical Engineering. Through the development of novel and efficient in-house computational methods based on a sound mathematical foundation, the research goal of the Computational Mechanics of Materials (CM2) Lab at Stanford University, led by Dr. Linder, is to understand micromechanically originated multi-scale and multi-physics mechanisms in solid materials undergoing large deformations and fracture. Applications include sustainable energy storage materials, flexible electronics, and granular materials.
Dr. Linder received his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley, an MA in Mathematics from UC Berkeley, an M.Sc. in Computational Mechanics from the University of Stuttgart, and a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Civil Engineering from TU Graz. Before joining Stanford in 2013 he was a Junior-Professor of Micromechanics of Materials at the Applied Mechanics Institute of Stuttgart University where he also obtained his Habilitation in Mechanics. Notable honors include a Fulbright scholarship, the 2013 Richard-von-Mises Prize, the 2016 ICCM International Computational Method Young Investigator Award, the 2016 NSF CAREER Award, and the 2019 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). -
Scott W Linderman
Assistant Professor of Statistics
BioScott Linderman, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University in the Statistics Department and the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute, as well as the Co-Director of the Stanford Center for Neural Data Science. His research focuses on machine learning, computational neuroscience, and the general question of how computational and statistical methods can help to decipher neural computation. His work combines novel methodological development in the areas of state space models, deep generative models, point processes, and approximate Bayesian inference with applied statistical analyses of large-scale neural and behavioral data. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University and a graduate student at Harvard University. His work has been recognized with a Savage Award from the International Society for Bayesian Analysis, an AISTATS Best Paper Award, an NSF CAREER Award, and fellowships from the McKnight, Sloan, and Simons Foundations.
