Beth Bass

Beth is from Dallas, Texas, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Human Rights, and Political Science from Southern Methodist University, as well as a Master’s in Sociology of Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Beth's work as a youth worker, track coach, and Black studies teacher informs their research on race, space, and histories of Black education.
Beth’s research focuses on Black parent activism, school choice, and history of Black education in Texas. Their work employs oral history methodology, critical race theory, and Black geographies to examine Black schooling contexts.

David Timothy Bates

His research focuses on the institutional change of universities owing to the emergence of the human sciences from the Progressive Era to the Cold War. Previously, he worked in civic education and taught in elementary schools in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Boston, Massachusetts. He has degrees from the University of Rochester, the University of Chicago, and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
