    BioChristine Jacobs-Wagner is a Dennis Cunningham Professor in the Department of Biology and the ChEM-H Institute at Stanford University. She is interested in understanding the fundamental mechanisms and principles by which cells, and, in particular, bacterial cells, are able to multiple. She received her PhD in Biochemistry in 1996 from the University of Liège, Belgium where she unraveled a molecular mechanism by which some bacterial pathogens sense and respond to antibiotics attack to achieve resistance. For this work, she received multiple awards including the 1997 GE & Science Prize for Young Life Scientists. During her postdoctoral work at Stanford Medical School, she demonstrated that bacteria can localize regulatory proteins to specific intracellular regions to control signal transduction and the cell cycle, uncovering a new, unsuspected level of bacterial regulation.

    She started her own lab at Yale University in 2001. Over the years, her group made major contributions in the emerging field of bacterial cell biology and provided key molecular insights into the temporal and spatial mechanisms involved in cell morphogenesis, cell polarization, chromosome segregation and cell cycle control. For her distinguished work, she received the Pew Scholars award from the Pew Charitable Trust, the Woman in Cell Biology Junior award from the American Society of Cell Biology and the Eli Lilly award from the American Society of Microbiology. She held the Maxine F. Singer and William H. Fleming professor chairs at Yale. She was elected to the Connecticut academy of Science, the American Academy of Microbiology and the National Academy of Sciences. She has been an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute since 2008.

    Her lab moved to Stanford in 2019. Current research examines the general principles and spatiotemporal mechanisms by which bacterial cells replicate, using Caulobacter crescentus and Escherichia coli as models. Recently, the Jacobs-Wagner lab expanded their interests to the Lyme disease agent Borrelia burgdorferi, revealing unsuspected ways by which this pathogen grows and causes disease

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsWe study innate immunity and immune regulation of Plasmodium Falciparum malaria in children and pregnant women. Our work focuses on understanding how malaria shapes the immune state in individuals following repeated exposure. We are also testing novel interventions to enhance protective immunity against malaria in children via large, randomized controlled trials. Our work in malaria has been based in Eastern Uganda, where malaria transmission is among the highest in the world.

    BioDr. Jain is a neuroradiologist and a Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) whose academic work bridges day-to-day neuroradiology practice with imaging informatics and clinically grounded artificial intelligence (AI).

    His clinical research interests include quantitative imaging and radiomics in cerebrovascular disease, with particular emphasis on intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), and imaging biomarkers in the aging brain and neurodegeneration, including limbic-predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy (LATE).

    His AI/informatics and quality-improvement interests include large language models (LLMs) for radiology reporting support and clinical decision support, with an emphasis on real-world evaluation and workflow integration.

    His education interests focus on modern, technology-enabled neuroradiology teaching, including tailored language models and extended reality (XR; augmented/virtual/mixed reality) approaches to strengthen trainee learning.

    BioDr. Jain is a board certified psychiatrist with specialty expertise in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), primary and mental health integrated care, and women’s health psychiatry. She is a former health services researcher, affiliated with the National Center for PTSD, who focuses on developing innovative ways to enhance the reach of mental healthcare in underserved populations with PTSD. Her work is widely accredited for elucidating the role of paraprofessionals and peers in the treatment of American veterans with PTSD.

    She serves as the Psychiatry representative on Stanford's Executive Committee of the Association of Adjunct Clinical Faculty (AACF) and is also a council member for the Adjunct Clinical Faculty (ACF) council in Stanford's department of psychiatry. She is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

    Dr. Jain is an internationally recognized leader in communicating to the public about trauma and PTSD. Her posts for her Psychology Today blog on PTSD, In the Aftermath of Trauma, have been viewed over 350,000 times.     BioDr. Sneha S. Jain is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and Director of the GUIDE-AI Lab. She specializes in general cardiovascular medicine and preventive cardiology.

    Dr. Jain pursued her undergraduate degree in Economics at Duke University and graduated with distinction. She received her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and her MBA from Harvard Business School. She completed internal medicine residency training at Columbia/NewYork-Presbyterian, and fellowship training in cardiovascular medicine at Stanford University.

    Her research focuses on the development and responsible evaluation of AI tools to augment healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes. She works with the Data Science Team at Stanford Healthcare and the Stanford Center for Clinical Research to deploy and prospectively evaluate AI solutions across the healthcare enterprise. She serves on the American College of Cardiology Healthcare Innovation Section leadership council, the American Heart Association Expert Panel for the AI Validation Lab, and as an Expert AI consultant for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsWe identified a common disorder of aging called clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP). CHIP occurs due to certain somatic mutations in blood stem cells and represents a precursor state for blood cancer, but is also associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease and death. We hope to understand more about the biology and clinical implications of CHIP using human and model system studies.

    BioDr. Jalil is a board-certified, fellowship-trained transplant hepatologist (liver doctor) and gastroenterologist at the Stanford Health Care Digestive Health Center in San Jose, California. He is also a clinical associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, at Stanford University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Jalil has extensive experience helping patients with a range of liver- and digestion-related conditions. He specializes in liver transplantation, and his other clinical interests include all forms of hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver, fatty liver disease, polycystic liver disease, and primary sclerosing cholangitis (swelling and scarring of the bile ducts). He has also volunteered in initiatives to offer free colonoscopy and hepatitis B screenings to underserved ethnic populations.

    His research interests include improving mental health by enhancing treatment access for patients with alcohol use disorder causing alcoholic liver disease. He has also studied swallowing problems, liver disease in pregnancy, living liver donation, and the use of artificial intelligence in treating nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and viral hepatitis. In addition, Dr. Jalil wrote a chapter on bile secretion and cholestasis (diminished bile flow) for the fifth edition of Yamada’s Textbook of Gastroenterology.

    Dr. Jalil has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including World Journal of Hepatology, Liver Transplantation, and the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology. Additionally, he has served as a reviewer for Pancreatology and as an abstract reviewer for the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Physicians. He has presented his research at meetings and conferences worldwide on a range of topics, including the timing of pregnancy after liver transplantation.

    Dr. Jalil is an AGA fellow and a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, American College of Gastroenterology, and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

    BioDr. M. Nicole Jamali focus has been in leadership, scientific innovation and streamlining business ventures. Over the past 20 years since graduation from Stanford Internal Medicine Residency, she has held National Positions in AMA as Western Caucus Chair and Appointee to Joint Commission Board. She was reelected to Board of Joint Commission three terms for total of 9 years. She helped rewrite multiple TJC Standards including creation of the Stroke Center of excellence standards and annual "new ideas section of the board". At AMA she authored and passed multiple House rules on variety of subjects affecting thousands of providers and healthcare centers. Her experiences in private practice, group practice, Hospitalist, Insurance Directorship lead to multiple innovative projects including first e-prescription covering both meds and DME in 1999 titled eRemedy,. She then created the first wrong site surgery device which was patented. This project lead to creation of first Transplant App called TPOD which was then simplified to TAPP. It was beta tested in USC and perfected in UCSF Transplant.
    Her work with various Insurance companies resulted in streamlined programs and teaching modules improving patient access to health care and millions of dollars in hospital savings of unnecessary admissions.
    Her work in creation and streamlining and connecting with local Primary Care providers resulted in rapid expansion of the Hospitalist program of local Hospital by 300%
    She is currently interested in Haptic and AI technologies in Medicine and providing 24/7 care to our veterans in remote locations or even the battlefield.
    She is currently Clinical Associated Professor and the lead Hospitalist in the new Stanford Cardiovascular Hospitalist Program and enjoys the daily interaction with patients . She truly believes that her mission in life is to be at the bedside of ill patients. She treats them as one of her own family. It is not atypical for her to hand out her personal phone number to make sure they feel safe even when discharged.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsClinical interests include autonomic disorders, small fiber neuropathies and the development of effective methods of testing and treating these disorders. Prior work has focused on small fiber painful and autonomic neuropathies; syndromes of orthostatic intolerance and syncope; gastrointestinal motility dysfunction; cyclic vomiting; protacted Gastroesophageal Reflux; non-allergic rhinitis syndromes; and the relationship between the autonomic nervous system and normal or abnormal sleep. Additional areas of interest include the neurology of phonation and swallowing disorders, and peripheral nerve injury and repair.

Ongoing research projects include studies of paramyxovirus and herpesvirus entry mechanisms, IgE-receptor structure and function and TGF-beta ligand signaling pathways.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy laboratory studies conformational switches in evolution, disease, and development. We focus on how molecular chaperones, proteins that help other biomolecules to fold, affect the phenotypic output of genetic variation. To do so we combine classical biochemistry and genetics with systems-level approaches. Ultimately we seek to understand how homeostatic mechanisms influence the acquisition of biological novelty and identify means of manipulating them for therapeutic and biosynthetic benefit.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Jeffrey led the multidisciplinary team from the Schools of Medicine, Engineering, and Genome Technology Center that invented the MagSweeper, an automated device that immunomagnetically captures live circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from cancer patient blood for single cell analysis or culture. Her lab also works on microfluidic technologies for tumor cell capture, characterization, and growth - with the goal of defining individual patient response to newer biologically-based cancer therapies.

Dr. Jeng received her A.B. at Harvard College and M.D. at the University of California, San Diego. She completed her pediatrics residency at University of California, San Francisco and is board-certified in pediatrics. After practicing general pediatrics for two years, she returned to UCSF for neurology residency. Upon completion of her residencies, she joined the faculty at Stanford as a general child neurologist with a special interest in medical education. She is the site director for the Stanford medical student neurology clerkship and the pediatric neurology liaison to the Stanford pediatrics residency program.

    BioBronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a common and severe complication of very preterm birth. Dr. Jensen’s research seeks to improve the long-term respiratory health of premature infants through: (1) clinical and translational studies that aim to develop evidence-based strategies to prevent and treat BPD; (2) novel characterization of disease severity and phenotypes in BPD; and (3) application of health services research techniques to investigate the association between hospital-level factors and neonatal morbidity and mortality.

    Dr. Jensen’s research is supported by grant funding from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), and the American Lung Association (ALA). He is a member of the International BPD Collaborative and the International Neonatal Consortium (INC) BPD working group.

    BioI am a professor of Biomedical Signal Processing at the Department of Health Technology (DTU Health), Technical University of Denmark (www.dtu.dk). My main interests are the application of digital signal processing to medical ultrasound, especially synthetic aperture imaging, vector flow imaging, super-resolution, GPU-based beamforming and implementation, and ultrasound simulation.

    I received the M.Sc. in electrical engineering in 1985, the Ph.D. in 1989 for work on deconvolution, and the Dr. Techn. degree in 1996 for my work on blood velocity estimation in the book: "Estimation of Blood Velocities Using Ultrasound, A Signal Processing Approach", which was published by Cambridge University Press in 1996. I have been a full professor at DTU since 1993, and I have been a visiting scientist at Duke University, North Carolina, Stanford University, California, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, all in the US. I became an IEEE Fellow in 2012.

    I have founded and headed the Center for Fast Ultrasound Imaging (www.cfu.dtu.dk) since 1998. Currently, I am a visiting Professor in the Department of Radiology at Stanford University, CA, USA, courtesy of Professors Katherine Ferrara and Jeremy Dahl, until August 2026. I will be working here on our super-resolution method, SURE, using the Stanford large-element arrays for the acquisition of clinical data. I am also writing a book on advanced ultrasound imaging, drawing on my 40 years in the field.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI am a clinical translational investigator with a primary interest in breast cancer biology, and the use of investigational and clinical ancillary techniques such as gene and tissue microarray analysis and immunohistochemistry in the diagnosis and prognosis of this disease. As a practicing cytopathologist, I also have an interest in improving the fine needle aspiration biopsy diagnosis of breast lesions, again using immunohistochemistry and gene expression analysis as adjuncts to cytomorphology.

    BioDr. Michael Jensen is a neurosurgeon at Stanford Health Care. He also serves as a clinical assistant professor and director of endoscopic spine surgery in the Department of Neurosurgery, Division of Spine Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Jensen specializes in endoscopic and minimally invasive spine surgery for degenerative conditions, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and spine-related pain, with experience in more than 2,000 procedures throughout his career. As Director of Endoscopic Spine Surgery at Stanford, he focuses on motion-preserving techniques that shorten recovery and restore function. He also employs advanced imaging and meticulous surgical planning to make spinal fusion safer and promote lasting healing. Dr. Jensen’s care philosophy emphasizes precision, collaboration, and open communication—ensuring that every patient understands their options and feels confident in their care.

    As a physician-scientist, Dr. Jensen focuses his research on improving the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of spine care. He has studied how cost-sharing policies, treatment timing, and prescribing patterns affect outcomes for patients with neck and back pain. He has also explored the use of machine learning and predictive modeling to guide clinical decision-making in neurosurgery. Currently, Dr. Jensen works with the Endoscopic Spine Research Group to improve patient pain control and functional recovery after endoscopic spine surgery.

    Dr. Jensen has presented his work at national meetings, including those of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Society of Lateral Access Surgery. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in journals such as The Spine Journal, JAMA Network Open, and World Neurosurgery. His research spans clinical care, health economics, and translational science, reflecting his commitment to advancing neurosurgical practice and improving patient outcomes.
