Stanford Student Employee, CV Med - Clinical TrialsBioCatharine Bowman is a concurrent PhD Candidate and Master’s Student in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health at Stanford University and MD Student at the University of Calgary. In 2007, Catharine’s mother was diagnosed with lymphedema, leading Catharine to promise her mother that she would one-day develop a pharmacological treatment for her incurable disease. By the age of fifteen, Catharine founded a national team of clinicians and scientists to pursue this work across Canada. Today, Catharine's research focuses on the epidemiology of lymphatic disease, lymphedema therapeutics, psychosocial manifestations, and surgical treatment of lymphedema. Through her speaking campaign, "Let's Talk Lymphedema", Catharine has presented on lymphedema internationally.
Catharine completed her Bachelor of Health Sciences (Hon.) at the University of Calgary, as one of five President’s Award recipients in 2020. She has been named one of Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30, one of Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue Magazine, and was selected as one of thirteen women in the world to join the Rising Talents Network in Paris, France. In 2022, Catharine was awarded the Knight-Hennessy Scholarship to pursue graduate studies at Stanford University. -

Dr. Breland received her PhD in psychology from Rutgers and completed her clinical internship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
Her work focuses on using quantitative and qualitative methods to: 1) assess outcomes related to the implementation of evidenced-based treatments, especially through controlled trials in novel settings (e.g., primary care) or with novel methods (e.g., apps); 2) identify and reduce racial and ethnic disparities in health; and 3) enhance care for patients with chronic conditions, such as obesity or diabetes. -

BioKelly Bugos MS, ANP-BC is a Director for the Center for Advanced Practice and a nurse practitioner specializing in cancer survivorship at Stanford Health Care. Ms. Bugos is the Director of Professional Development and the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship Program. As director, Ms. Bugos focuses on APP leadership development. Opened in 2016, the APP Fellowship Program educates and trains APPs in transition to professional practice and specialty care, like administration and cancer care. She founded the cancer survivorship clinics at Stanford in 2012 and continues to focus her clinical work on helping people touched by cancer restore their health after treatment. Ms. Bugos has developed other professional roles and programs over her career at Stanford, like the nurse practitioner position in the 1990s. She has expertise in leadership of advanced practice providers, complex patient care in the outpatient setting, long term and late effects of cancer and its treatment, including symptom management. She is a frequent speaker and author on these topics at the regional and national level.

BioRene Caissie is an entrepreneur, researcher, and former surgeon who holds the position of CEO and Co-Founder at Medeloop.ai, a company dedicated to revolutionizing clinical research and trials through innovative AI technology. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he teaches entrepreneurship in Digital Health and A.I.. In addition, he lectures within the Stanford Master of Science in Clinical Informatics Management (MCIM) program, mentoring students through their practicum experiences. Furthermore, he provides instruction at the Translational Medicine Program (MTM) at UCSF, focusing on the translational challenges in medicine. He is also a member of the XPRIZE Brain Trust Team, where he lends his expertise to foster healthcare innovations. Beyond his professional pursuits, Rene is an avid mountain climber, sailboat trans-oceanic racer, SR22 Turbo aircraft pilot, and Ironman World Championship qualifier. His dedication to humanitarian work is evident through his NGO, Volte-Face, which has provided over $1 million in free medical care for life-changing surgeries to underprivileged patients.
