Mark McGovern

BioDr. Mark McGovern is a Professor and the Associate Chair of Translation and Implementation Research in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and, by courtesy, the Department of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Most people who need health care do not receive it. And of those who do, wide variation exists in access to care and the quality of the care they receive in health care systems, both private and public. Dr. McGovern is a leader in using rigorous methods of implementation science to close these gaps in health care delivery.
His mission is to get the best health care possible to the people who need it the most.
Dr. McGovern's primary focus is the implementation and sustainment of evidence-based interventions and guideline adherent care in public and private health care systems and organizations. Within the hub of the Stanford Center for Dissemination and Implementation (CDI) which he directs, Dr. McGovern is the Principal Investigator (PI) and leads three national implementation research and practice centers: The Center for Dissemination and Implementation At Stanford (C-DIAS); The Research Adoption Support Center (RASC); and, the Mental Health Technology Transfer Center Network Coordinating Center (MHTTC). The 3 centers are federally-funded, respectively by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (P50DA05402), the National Institutes of Health Healing Addiction Long Term (HEAL) initiative (U2CDA057717), and the US Department of Health and Human Services Substance Use and Mental Health Services Administration (H79SM081726). Dr. McGovern is also the PI on a multi-site adaptive implementation trial across a state system of care, which aims to integrate addiction medications for persons with opioid use disorder who are receiving services in specialty or primary care organizations (R01DA052975). In addition, he addresses implementation challenges in federally-qualified health centers (FQHCs) across the State of California, in the Stanford Division of Primary Care and Population Health, and in specialty addiction and mental health treatment organizations nationwide. He leads, facilitates and/or actively engages networks advancing implementation science in health, including the NIDA Clinical Trials Network Translation & Implementation Special Interest Group, the NIDA Clinical Trials Western States Node Translation & Implementation Workgroup, the Stanford University Network for Dissemination & Implementation Research (SUNDIR), the VA Palo Alto HSR&D Center for Innovation to Implementation, and the Stanford Medicine Center for Improvement. He is on the Core Faculty of the National Institute of Mental Health Implementation Research Institute at the Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. McGovern is a collaborator on multiple projects as a co-investigator, consultant, or advisory board member. He is a mentor to numerous individuals across the country and at Stanford, from university undergraduates to mid-career faculty and clinical administrators at academic institutions and health care systems nationwide. -

Dr. McLean’s research focuses on increasing the implementation and reach of evidence-based treatments for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Windy McNerney is the Director of Biological Sciences for the MIRECC at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Palo Alto, and a Clinical Associate Professor (Affiliated) at Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. McNerney holds a particular passion for not only understanding the neurophysiology and biochemistry of mental health diseases, but also advocating for these invisible diseases. Her research focuses on neurodegeneration, depression, TBI, PTSD, and addiction. She is collaborating with researchers to integrate brain imaging and biochemical markers in hopes to better understand these diseases. She also is taking a lead role at the VA in investigating the biochemistry of magnetic brain stimulation and is the leader of the NeuroNado Laboratory. At Stanford University, she is the professor of two popular courses examining the biological and societal issues surrounding substance use disorder, with a major focus on opioids such as fentanyl. She has individually mentored over 25 students from underrepresented groups in STEM activities and leads monthly seminars aimed at facilitating career development. In her free time, she is a community advocate for the treatment of mental health and educates groups about the dangers of fentanyl.
She earned her BS from UC Davis and her PhD from the University of Notre Dame. While at ND, she interned at NASA Ames on Human Factors Engineering. She then went on to a postdoctoral position at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (DOE), and then completed a fellowship at the WRIISC program at the VA and Stanford University.

Emmanuel Mignot, MD, PhD

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsThe research focus of the laboratory is the study of sleep and sleep disorders such as narcolepsy and Kleine Levin syndrome. We also study the neurobiological and genetic basis of the EEG and develop new tools to study sleep using nocturnal polysomnography. Approaches mostly involve human genetic studies (GWAS, sequencing), EEG signal analysis (deep learning), and immunology (narcolepsy is an autoimmune disease of the brain). We also work on autoimmune encephalitis.

Colleen Mills-Finnerty

BioDr. Mills-Finnerty received her PhD in Psychology from Rutgers University, with a focus on cognitive neuroscience. She completed a MIRECC Advanced Fellowship at the Palo Alto VA and Stanford Dept. Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, studying mood disorders using neuroimaging and neurostimulation. She was then awarded a VA Career Development Award to study attention and reward function in mood disorders. She joined the Women’s Operational Military Exposures Network as a Research Scientist in 2024. She is interested in health disparities that impact neurological and mental health in women Veterans, and their relationship to Military Environmental Exposures.
She has authored multiple award-winning papers, including “Affective Neuroscience: Applications for Sexual Medicine Research and Clinical Practice,” proposing a novel treatment schema for sexual trauma based on affective neuroscience, which was awarded the Bronze Prize for Best Paper by the International Society for Sexual Medicine. -

Dr. Krishnan provides clinical services within the Medical Coping and Wellness Clinic in Child Psychiatry. Additionally, she is an attending psychologist with the pediatric liver transplant team. -

Hylton Molzof, PhD, MPH

BioDr. Molzof is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Licensed Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Stanford School of Medicine. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of sleep disorders via behavioral sleep medicine interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and positive airway pressure (PAP) desensitization. She also utilizes evidence-based techniques to help patients better manage circadian rhythm disorders, such as delayed sleep-wake phase disorder and shift work sleep disorder. Inspired by her background in public health, she has a strong interest in quality improvement and program development projects aimed at enhancing the quality and accessibility of sleep and circadian medicine for the diverse patient population served by Stanford Sleep Medicine Center.

Aurelie Montagne

Fellow in Psychiatry and Behavioral SciencesBioDr. Aurélie Montagne is a psychiatrist whose work centers on psychotherapy, systemic approaches to care, and the organization of psychiatric services. Throughout her training, she has developed advanced expertise across multiple psychotherapy modalities, with a particular interest in group-based interventions. Her research has explored innovative models of care delivery, including teletherapy for complex trauma.
In parallel with her clinical and scholarly work, Dr. Montagne has pursued additional training and supervision in systemic and relational approaches to psychiatry. Her work in this area emphasizes the integration of interpersonal and contextual factors into psychiatric formulation and care.
Dr. Montagne has also been actively engaged in medical education and leadership. She has been a dedicated teacher of medical students and residents and has held leadership roles aimed at strengthening undergraduate psychiatric education. Her clinical expertise extends to day hospital (partial hospitalization) programs, where she integrates psychotherapy, group-based care, and systemic thinking into program development and delivery. She will be joining the McGill University Health Centre as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, where she will lead the Adult Psychiatry Day Hospital. -

BioDr. Kelli Moran-Miller joined Stanford in Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences in 2015. She is a licensed psychologist specializing in athlete mental health and sport and performance psychology. She also is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant with the Association of Applied Sport Psychology and a member of the US Olympic Committee registry. In her current role with Stanford Athletics (DAPER), she provides clinical and performance psychology services for varsity student-athletes, coaches, staff, and varsity sport teams. Prior to Stanford, she was the Director of Counseling and Sport Psychology - Athletics at the University of Iowa.

Elvis Raymond Mukwikwi, MD

BioDr. Elvis Raymond Mukwikwi is a geriatric psychiatry fellow at Stanford University. He completed his medical training at the University of Montreal, followed by a specialization in psychiatry at McGill University. Martin Stefan Mumenthaler

BioMartin Mumenthaler has a PharmD and a PhD in psychopharmacology from the University of Bern, Switzerland. He holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine where he has been conducting research programs in addiction medicine and psychopharmacology, and teaching and mentoring medical students and residents on a voluntary basis.
Dr. Mumenthaler has also been working in various full-time positions in the pharmaceutical industry as Director in Clinical Development as well as in Medical Affairs, and as a consultant for early-stage pharma- and biotech companies providing advice on designing and conducting clinical trials, and analyzing and interpreting study results, mainly in the field of addiction medicine and pain.
His academic research has focused on the effects of psychoactive drugs on human performance, Aerospace Medicine, Alzheimer’s disease, and addiction medicine, and in these areas he has presented his results internationally and published over twenty-five peer-reviewed scientific articles. He has also served as a reviewer for various scientific journals, and is a member of the Research Society on Alcoholism, and an Associate Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association. -
