Nasim Bararpour
Basic Life Research Scientist, Genetics
BioNasim Bararpour is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Genetics and Personalized Medicine at Stanford School of Medicine, where she works at the intersection of data science, and multi-omics integration. She completed her Ph.D. in Life Science from the University of Lausanne, developing deep expertise in mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and lipidomics as well as integrative omics. She joined Stanford in 2020.
At Stanford, Dr. Bararpour has led and contributed to some of the most comprehensive multi-omics studies to date, including the human Personalized Omics Profiling (hPOP) project, the integrative Personal Omics Profiling (iPOP) study, and the Human Tumor Atlas Network (HTAN). Her first-authored paper in Cell (2026), which integrated thirteen molecular layers across individuals of diverse ancestries, identified ethnicity-specific drug target patterns and molecular pathways with direct implications for cardiometabolic disease, making a scientific case for population-aware precision medicine. She is the author of over 20 peer-reviewed publications, including papers in Nature Metabolism, and Nature Biomedical Engineering. -

Joshua Barnett

BioJoshua is a leader in Information Technology, Security, and Artificial Intelligence, with more than 25 years of experience across the automotive, renewable energy, and academia sectors. Aside from his work in University IT, Joshua also serves as an instructor for the AI Playground 101: Practice and Exploration (ITS-1990) course and is involved with AI research around campus. Additionally, he is a recurring advisor for MIS Practicum Honors courses at San Jose State University, where he has helped guide exceptional seniors as they bridge the gap between academia and real world project experience. Joshua also serves as an Industry Domain Expert for Tech Launch at the University of Arizona, assisting in assessing the commercial potential of technological innovations that stem from university research.
Joshua is open to virtual speaking engagements and advisory roles. He is particularly interested in opportunities that explore the future of AI, security, privacy, and renewable energy technologies. -

BioUmang Barvalia earned his M.B,B.S degree from Medical College, Baroda in Vadodara, India. He completed his internal medicine residency at Marshfield Clinic- St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, WI where he also served as a chief resident. He was a chief fellow during his Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship at University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI. He is currently working as a Board Certified Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Physician at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC), San Jose. – a county hospital that serves as a teaching site for Stanford residents and fellows. He holds an appointment of Clinical Associate Professor (affiliated) at Stanford University School of Medicine due to his involvement in training of pulmonary and critical medicine fellows.
His professional interests include point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and medical education. He is certified in Critical Care Echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) and teaches residents and fellows POCUS in the ICU and on the pulmonary consult service.
As a lung specialist, he cares for patients with chronic lung conditions like asthma, pulmonary hypertension, COPD, Interstitial lung disease, diseases involving the pleura and lung cancer. He also established the Endobronchial Ultrasound Program at SCMVC that helps in the diagnosis and care of lung cancer patients.
As a full time faculty in the intensive care unit, he treats patients with a variety of conditions including sepsis, liver failure, respiratory failure, post cardiac arrest and stroke. Along with his peers, he introduced prone position ventilation at SCVMC that helps in management of patients with ARDS. -

Research Assistant, GSE Centers and ProgramsBioBethany D. Bass is a PhD student studying Race, Inequality, Language and Education & History of Education at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. Her work focuses on the relationship between historically Black schools and Black communities, chronicling Black education in South Dallas, Texas, from the late 1930s to the present. Their work uses Black geographic thought, digital humanities, and oral history to listen to how Black elders and young people create sites of Black livingness (McKittrick 2021, Quashie 2021) and learning inside and outside of formal school settings.
Their scholarship is supported by the EDGE: Enhancing Diversity in Graduate Education Fellowship and The Stanford Interdisciplinary Graduate Fellowship (SIGF) through the Office of the Vice Provost for Graduate Education. -

Marley Bauce
Managing Director, Geballe Laboratory for Advanced Materials
BioMarley Bauce joined Stanford in January 2023 as the Managing Director or the Geballe Laboratory for Advanced Materials (GLAM), one of 15 independent and transdisciplinary labs within the Office of the Vice Provost and Dean of Research. In this role, he provides managerial, financial, facilities, strategic planning, and research administrative support for GLAM’s faculty, trainees, and administrative staff, while optimizing the vibrancy, interconnectivity, and safety of materials research across the university.
Prior to joining Stanford, Marley spent a decade at Columbia University, first as the Director of Research Development within the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research, then most recently as the inaugural Associate Dean for Research at the Climate School, where he created and led an 11-person Office of Research spanning compliance, grants administration, federal affairs, and strategic initiatives. Over his tenure at Columbia, he directly supported and wrote “center grant” proposals awarded $100M+ in federal funding.
Marley has an MPA in Management & Finance from Columbia University, an MA in Environmental Studies from NYU, and a BA in Philosophy from Hampshire College.
