In my role as service manager I work with librarians, faculty, donors, and archivists to develop policies, workflows and procedures to acquire, preserve, and make born digital content available for researchers. This includes managing a budget to acquire lab technologies for our digital archivists and working with my Stanford colleagues to develop a catalog of services to support library acquisitions (see https://library.stanford.edu/research/digitization-services/labs/born-digital-forensics-lab). Current projects that are in process include implementation of the BitCurator Bulk Extractor in our production workflows, defining our security policies and audit processes for acquired content and automating the process for depositing our preserved software into the Stanford Digital Repository. -

Current Role at StanfordAs the Curator for South Asian and Islamic Studies I am responsible for building the library's collection of materials from and about South Asia and the Islamic world in English, European languages, and languages of the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia. This involves building and sustaining a network of antiquarian dealers, book vendors, scholars, publishers, and libraries in South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East. Apart from responding to faculty teaching needs I work in collaboration with the South Asia Center, the Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies, and their affiliates to provide research assistance to faculty, students, and other library users. I also oversee the Bahai collection.

Parker Vance Watt

BioParker Watt is the Baltic Studies Program Support Librarian at Stanford Libraries, where his responsibility is to assist with programming, event planning, and partnership development related to Baltic Studies. Parker recently completed a U.S. Fulbright research project in Estonia, which combined his previous work in the film industry with his academic interests in international relations. He created the documentary short film series “Resilient Expression: Ukrainian Artists in Estonia,” which examines how Ukrainians are using their work to heal, maintain national identity, and integrate into their new home. While in Estonia, Parker was affiliated with the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies at the University of Tartu, where he continued to write and speak on developments in the Baltic region and the United States. Before his Fulbright project, Parker received his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and a minor in Slavic Languages and Literature from Stanford. He was first introduced to Estonia through the Stanford Global Studies internship in Estonia.

Current Role at StanfordMy main goals are to:
1. support excellence in research by any means necessary, with physical and virtual library spaces and collections;
2. facilitate effective stewardship and curation of information and data generated by the research community at Hopkins Marine Station;
3. extend the preservation efforts of HMS archival collections to create actionable research products, thus broadening their utility and impact; and,
4. share the remarkable work of Hopkins researchers with our local community through meaningful engagement with diverse audiences.
As Head of the Harold A. Miller Library at Hopkins Marine Station, my primary responsibilities include:
1. overall management of the library;
2. collection development (books, journals, data and electronic resources) in marine sciences;
3. plan and direct curation of our unique legacy collections, including historical archives and data;
4. assist Hopkins residents in finding the information they need, procure documents not available locally or online, and provide instruction on use of physical and virtual library resources and spaces;
5. lead the management of our makerspace;
6. provide research services, including consultations on scholarly communication and data management, sharing and curation.
