Jiechao Gao

BioJiechao Gao is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Stanford University's Center for Sustainable Development and Global Competitiveness. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Virginia, his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, and dual B.S. degrees in Applied Physics and Financial Engineering from Jilin University. Prior to joining Stanford, he served as an Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University.
His research spans federated learning, large language model (LLM) interpretability and efficiency, reinforcement learning, and privacy-preserving AI, with applications in healthcare, smart buildings, IoV, and finance. He has published extensively at top venues including ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, EMNLP, KDD, CVPR, ACL, etc. He serves as Area Chair or Senior Program Committee member for conferences such as ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, AAAI, EMNLP, KDD, IJCAI, IJCNN, ICASSP, and reviews for journals such as JMLR, IEEE IoT-J, and IEEE TITS. Lorenza Garau Paganella
Postdoctoral Scholar, Mechanical Engineering
BioLorenza was born in Italy in 1997 and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University with Prof. Chaudhuri, supported by an SNSF fellowship. Her research focuses on engineering biomaterials to investigate cell–extracellular matrix interactions and mechanotransduction in 2D and 3D cell cultures, aiming to advance biomedical understanding of tissue remodeling and disease.
Lorenza obtained her PhD (2024) in Mechanical and Process Engineering from ETH Zurich, where she developed hydrogel scaffolds and protocols for protein isolation to study cell behavior in engineered microenvironments.
Before her PhD, Lorenza completed her MSc at ETH Zurich and BSc at University of Trieste in Process Engineering, graduating both cum laude. During this time her focus was on biomaterials for drug delivery which she complemented with an internship in Roche. She has worked in interdisciplinary teams combining engineering and biology and is motivated by research that bridges fundamental science with clinical impact. -
Zherui Han
Postdoctoral Scholar, Electrical Engineering
BioZherui Han received his Ph.D. (2024) in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, and B.S. (2019) in Energy and Power Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China. He is a recipient of Purdue's Ross Fellowship and Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship. He is now a postdoc at Stanford developing theory for thermal and electronic transport in 2D systems and devices. His prior works include first-principles modeling of phonon dynamics.

Zhili He

BioZhili He is a Visiting PhD Student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University, working with Prof. Hae Young Noh. He is currently pursuing his PhD at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology under the supervision of Prof. Yu-Hsing Wang.
His research lies at the intersection of robotics, computer vision, and artificial intelligence for the built environment. His current work focuses on autonomous quadruped robot systems, SLAM, 3D building digitalization, BIM, large language models, and AI-driven structural inspection.
He has published research in leading journals including Information Fusion and Automation in Construction. His long-term goal is to develop intelligent robotic systems that enable autonomous inspection, digitalization, and maintenance of civil infrastructure. -
Anh Tuan Hoang

BioAnh Tuan Hoang is a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University, where he is working with Prof. Eric Pop and Prof. Andrew Mannix. Hoang received his Ph.D. (2022) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Yonsei University and his M.S. (2016) in Bionano Engineering from Hanyang University, supported by the BK21+ Fellowship. Before that, he earned his B.S. degree (2014) in Chemical Engineering from Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Hoang's research interests span various fields, including colorimetric sensors, chemical analysis, displays, flexible and wearable devices, crystallography, and semiconductor physics. During his time at Stanford, he focused primarily on the wafer-scale synthesis and characterization of 2D semiconductors.

BioBernd Hofmann received the B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering from the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, Augsburg, Germany, in 2015, and the M.Sc. and Dr.-Ing. degrees in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Munich, Germany, in 2017 and 2024, respectively.
From Jan. 2025 to Feb. 2026, he was a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Southern California, CA. Since Mar. 2026 he is a postdoctoral scholar with the Stanford University. His current research interests include computational electromagnetics, in particular, high-order accurate integral equation methods, and antenna near-field measurement techniques. -

Alissa Hummer

BioThomas (Tomek) Jaroslawski is a postdoctoral researcher at the Center of Turbulence Research (CTR). His research interests lie in experimental fluid mechanics, applied to a wide range of applications. He works with Professor Beverley McKeon on investigating rough-walled turbulent boundary layer flows, and also with Professor Juan Santiago on studying the flow physics in various microfluidic applications.

Seraphine Kamayirese

BioI am a protein and peptide biochemist with a focus on biophysical characterization, structural activity relationship (SAR)study, and design and optimization of peptides targeting disease-relevant proteins. My Ph.D. research focused on designing and optimizing ligands that target the 14-3-3ε protein to disrupt its interaction with the cell cycle regulator CDC25A, an interaction known to suppress apoptosis in squamous cell carcinoma. Inhibiting this pathway is expected to promote apoptosis in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. At Stanford University, I am expanding my research to study antimicrobial peptidoids and peptides such as LL-37 and their interactions with amyloid beta peptides, and the potential application of the resulting complexes as antiviral therapeutics. I bring strong experience in rational peptide design, structural activity relationship studies, molecular dynamics simulations, peptides and peptoids synthesis and purification, protein expression, and biophysical assays. My research has led to multiple peer-reviewed publications, presentations at national and international conferences, and awards, including the Young Investigator Poster Award at the American Peptide Symposium.
