Associate Professor of Health Policy and Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research
BioDavid Chan, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Health Policy at the Stanford School of Medicine, an investigator at the Department of Veterans Affairs, and a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Drawing on labor and organizational economics, he is interested in studying how information is used in health care, how this affects productivity, and implications for design. He is the recipient of the 2014 NIH Director’s High-Risk, High-Reward Early Independence Award to study the optimal balance of information in health information technology for patient care.
Dr. Chan received master’s degrees in policy and economics from the London School of Economics and Oxford University, where he studied as a Marshall scholar. He holds a medical degree from UCLA and a PhD in economics from MIT. He trained in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and was an instructor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, prior to coming to Palo Alto, where he currently is a hospitalist at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Palo Alto. -
Emily Chan
Associate Professor of Pathology (Clinical Pathology)
BioDr. Chan is an Associate Professor of Pathology at Stanford University. She completed her MD, PhD at New York University and Anatomic Pathology residency with subspecialty Genitourinary Pathology training at University of California-San Francisco (UCSF). She is AP board-certified. Dr. Chan has been a GU attending at UCSF for the past five years where she has successfully mentored numerous trainees in projects, publications, and career planning. Dr. Chan has co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed research publications and has a particular interest in integrating molecular testing in diagnostic pathology, as well as recognition of prostate cancer architectural patterns than can help with prognosis and treatment decision making.

Jeremy Chan
Clinical Assistant Professor, Orthopaedic Surgery
BioDr. Chan is a board certified Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford University. He specializes in the surgical treatment of orthopedic conditions in the foot and ankle including ankle arthroscopy, ankle fusions, total ankle replacement, deformity reconstruction, ligament and tendon repair as well as fractures involving the foot and ankle. Having treated athletes from recreational to professional levels, Dr. Chan has a particular interest in acute foot and ankle injuries including treatment of Achilles ruptures, ankle syndesmosis and lateral ankle ligament injuries, ankle fractures and Lisfranc injuries. Dr. Chan also has expertise in early weightbearing and accelerated rehabilitation approaches to ankle fractures and Achilles tendon surgery. As a faculty member, Dr. Chan serves as a foot and ankle consultant for Stanford Athletics and directs resident education on the foot and ankle service. He is currently helping to develop a coaching curriculum for orthopedic surgery residents, and is an orthopedic resident mentor. In addition, Dr. Chan serves as a file reviewer for MD Admissions at the Stanford School of Medicine. He is an active committee member for the Postgraduate Education and Public Education Committees of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
Dr. Chan has authored or co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed scientific articles, reviews and chapters while also serving as a journal reviewer for both Foot and Ankle International (FAI) as well as the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS). For his research in flatfoot reconstruction, he was awarded the Leonard J. Goldner Award from the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS).
He graduated magna cum laude with honors during his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington. He went on to medical school at Cornell University graduating with honors in research. During his time in medical school, he was awarded the Sidney and Viola Borkon Memorial Prize as the top student in his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Stanford and was chosen as the American Orthopaedic Association Evarts Resident Leader representative during his time in residency. Dr. Chan completed his subspecialty orthopedic foot and ankle fellowship training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He has been trained and mentored by several former and future presidents of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society including Drs. David Thordarson, Scott Ellis and Glenn Pfeffer. -
John K. Chan
Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor, Obstetrics & Gynecology - Gynecologic Oncology
BioAs a board-certified gynecologic oncologist caring for cancer patients undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and biologic treatment over the last 20 years, I have a deep understanding of the pathophysiology of ovarian, uterine, cervical, and vulvovaginal cancers. I trained at MD Anderson Cancer Center under the Felix Rutledge oncology fellowship and at University of California, Los Angeles and Irvine for Medical School and Gynecologic Oncology fellowship.
My translational science research on cancer immunotherapy was supported under a National Institute of Health Career Development Award. With respect to population science, I studied ovarian cancer prevention and outcomes under a National Cancer Institute grant. As a clinical researcher, I served as the principal investigator for numerous phase II and III clinical trials and received multiple grants and awards, including those from the National Cancer Institute, the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, Gynecologic Cancer Foundation, and the Gynecologic Oncology Group / NRG.
Over the years, my research studies have published nearly 200 peer-reviewed journals in the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, Lancet Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology and Clinical Cancer Research and numerous textbook chapters. Clinically, I have been elected as the Best doctor in America and Best Doctors as recognized by the U.S. News and World Report. -

Rachel Ellen Chan Seay
Clinical Associate Professor, Obstetrics & Gynecology - General
BioMy clinical focus is the care of people across the age spectrum from adolescence to menopause. I attend to both Obstetric and benign Gynecologic needs in both ambulatory and hospital settings. I strive to provide a holistic approach to consultations for full-scope benign Gyn medical and surgical problems. In my practice of clinical medicine, I strongly value the role of education across all levels, including medical staff, students, resident physicians, patients and their families. I emphasize effective communication, professionalism, and inclusive patient-centered care.
I am actively involved in national and international programs that focus on teaching medical students, residents and faculty. Since completing my residency training, I have worked regularly in international low-resource settings. I have served as Visiting Clinical Faculty in Thomonde, Haiti; at Hospital Nacional Juan Jose Ortega in Coatepeque, Guatemala; and at Orotta School of Medicine in Asmara, Eritrea. I have completed emergency OBGYN field assignments as a clinical consultant for Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Sierra Leone and South Sudan. I worked as a consultant for an academic partnership with the University of Colorado School of Public Health to train local traditional birth attendants, and developed a long-term partnership to augment the local OBGYN residency program in Coatepeque in the southwest Trifinio region of Guatemala. I was the 2015 Research Fellow in the History of American Ob/Gyn at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in Washington DC, where my research focused on the evolution of the management of postpartum hemorrhage in the US from 1903-1940. I currently serve as visiting teaching faculty at the University of Global Health Equity in Butaro, Rwanda.
My ongoing scholarly activities focus on designing global health curricula for medical trainees from high-resources settings, and supporting medical education in low-resource settings. -

BioDr. Crystal Chang is a Hospital Dentist and Clinical Assistant Professor in Dental Medicine & Surgery. She focuses on maintaining oral health through the management of infection, trauma and secondary comorbidities to the dentition and its supporting structures. She performs medically necessary dental surgery in the context of cardiac disease, orthopedic surgery, cancer therapy and organ transplants. Dr. Chang is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and provides oral appliance therapy for obstructive sleep apnea.

She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Stanford Medicine’s Division of Endocrinology and, by courtesy, the Department of Neurosurgery. She specializes in pituitary disorders, including prolactinomas, Cushing disease, acromegaly, non-functional pituitary masses and cysts, and hypopituitarism, as well as transgender health and gender-affirming hormone care.
For each patient, she develops a comprehensive, compassionate care plan personalized to individual needs. Her goal is always the best possible health and quality of life for every patient in her care.
Dr. Chang actively leads several pituitary and transgender care research, quality improvement, and education initiatives. She teaches Stanford trainees and serves as the associate program director for the Stanford Endocrinology Fellowship. She has published widely and presented her research at international conferences and is a member of the Endocrine Society, Pituitary Society, and the World Professional Association of Transgender Health. She is a native English speaker, and she also understands Korean.

BioDr. Chang is a board-certified, Stanford fellowship-trained otolaryngologist providing care at Stanford Health Care’s Sinus Center. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine.
He specializes in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of nasal, sinus, and skull base disorders. Dr. Chang is also interested in the use of online digital media for ear, nose, and throat (ENT)-related educational content. He is the rhinology host for Headmirror’s ENT in a Nutshell podcast and served as education consulting for the rhinology section of DosedDaily.
Dr. Chang’s research interests include new endoscopic imaging technologies, machine learning applications in healthcare, and outcomes for various medical and surgical treatments for sinus and skull base disorders.

Instructor, Medicine - Cardiovascular MedicineBioPrior to a career in medicine, Dr. Chang was an English major and subsequent novelist at night. During the days, he taught literature part-time at Rutgers University, and for extra money, worked in a laboratory in NYC washing test tubes. Inspired by his laboratory mentor, he began volunteering at the hospital next door, and developed a love for interacting with patients. Through this experience, he saw how caring for others could form deep bonds between people - even strangers - and connect us in a way that brings grandeur to ordinary life.
In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Chang is a physician-scientist devoted to advancing the field of cardiovascular medicine. His research has been focused on identifying a new genetic organism that better models human heart disease than the mouse. For this purpose, he has been studying the mouse lemur, the smallest non-human primate, performing cardiovascular phenotyping (vital signs, ECG, echocardiogram) on lemurs both in-bred (in France) and in the wild (in Madagascar) to try to identify mutant cardiac traits that may be heritable - and in the process, characterize the first high-throughput primate model of human cardiac disease. -

BioDr. Timothy Chang is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Urology at Stanford University. He graduated with High Honors from Princeton University and received a Master of Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He then obtained his medical degree and urology residency training from Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Chang has experience in a broad range of adult general urologic care, with a particular focus on kidney stone treatment for which he completed specialized fellowship training at Stanford. Lisa Chao, MD, FACOG

BioDr. Lisa Chao is a fellowship-trained, minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon who specializes in complex pelvic surgery for benign gynecologic conditions including endometriosis, pelvic pain, uterine fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, adnexal cysts, and other conditions that may require minimally invasive surgery. She is devoted to improving women’s health through evidence-based practice and by providing compassionate, holistic, and patient-centered approach to care. Committed to helping those with endometriosis and pelvic pain, she takes on a multimodal and multidisciplinary approach. Her clinical interests include complex gynecologic surgery, advanced laparoscopic techniques, large fibroids, advanced endometriosis, and pelvic pain. Her academic interests include surgical education and simulation training.
Dr. Chao earned her medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. She completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Stanford University and received advanced training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery through a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Magee-Womens Hospital. Prior to returning to Stanford University, she was a member of the faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX and served as Associate Director of the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellowship Program where she trained both fellows and residents.
Dr. Chao has authored many peer-reviewed research articles and delivered numerous presentations at international meetings. She is a peer reviewer for the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been a ‘Top Reviewer’ since 2020 for the journal, Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is also an active member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS). She holds leadership positions and serves as an expert on several national committees for these organizations. -

Sripriya Chari

BioDr. Sripriya (Priya) Chari is a CA Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Assistant Professor working with the INSPIRE Clinic at Stanford. Dr. Chari's clinical interests lie in early identification of the psychosis risk syndrome and providing evidence based psychotherapeutic interventions from a recovery oriented perspective. Prior to the INSPIRE Clinic, Dr. Chari was a clinical assessor for the North American Prodrome Longitudinal Study, aimed at studying the predictors for conversion to psychosis of youth at clinical high risk for psychosis. She also worked for Santa Clara County Department of Mental Health, in inpatient, outpatient, and forensic settings providing psychotherapy and assessment services.

Greg Charville, MD, PhD

BioDr. Charville has a special interest in the diagnosis of rare tumors that derive from bone and soft tissues, including muscle, fat, blood vessels, cartilage, and other connective tissues. He also specializes in the classification and study of diseases related to the gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatobiliary systems.
Dr. Charville particularly enjoys working alongside Stanford's excellent physicians-in-training to classify the most diagnostically challenging cases in collaboration with pathologists from around the world, bringing to bear cutting-edge techniques for comprehensive histologic and molecular characterization in each case. This experience serves as the inspiration for laboratory-based investigation of the molecular underpinnings of human disease, focusing on genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of neoplasia and the translation of these mechanistic insights into novel diagnostic and predictive biomarkers. -

BioDr. Chattree is a board-certified neurologist with the Stanford Movement Disorders Center and an Instructor in the Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences. Rishabh Chaudhari, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Radiation Oncology - Radiation Therapy
BioDr. Chaudhari is a radiation oncologist with the Stanford Medicine Cancer Center and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine.
In every case, he develops a comprehensive, compassionate care plan personalized to the unique needs of each patient. His goal is always to deliver innovative, compassionate care of the highest quality to help each patient achieve the best possible outcome.
Dr. Chaudhari conducts research into leading-edge treatments, allowing him to offer the most advanced care options. He has investigated stereotactic body radiation therapy for non-small cell lung cancer and for pancreatic adenocarcinoma. He has also studied the effects of radiotherapy on breast cancer stem cells and extramedullary plasmacytomas. He also is currently studying the use of proton beam therapy on recurrent head and neck cancers.
Dr. Chaudhari has presented his research findings at meetings of the Radiation Research Society, Society for Thermal Medicine, American Society for Radiation Oncology, and World Congress of Brachytherapy. He has published articles on radiotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer in the journal Lung Cancer: Targets and Therapy. He also co-authored the chapter “Renal and Adrenal Vasculature: Anatomy and Imaging” in the textbook Image-Guided Interventions. He has served as a reviewer for Cancer Medicine.
In previous positions, Dr. Chaudhari served on committees dedicated to care quality assurance and to the monitoring of cancer care protocols. Other areas of interest include radiation oncology department operations and advising radiation oncology residents.
Dr. Chaudhari is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology. -
Amina Chaudhry, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Oncology
BioDr. Amina Chaudhry is a medical oncologist in the Division of Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine. As part of Stanford University’s Breast Cancer Program, she specializes in treating patients diagnosed with breast cancer.
Dr. Chaudhry completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She gained advanced training in hematology and oncology through a fellowship at University of Illinois Chicago. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Chaudhry’s research focuses on improving outcomes in disadvantaged populations with breast cancer. In 2022, she received the Repurposing Research to Address Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion grant to support underrepresented patients with early-stage breast cancer.
Dr. Chaudhry has published research in journals including Annals of Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Blood Advances. She has presented her work at the annual meetings of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS), and American Society of Hematology (ASH).
Dr. Chaudhry has a strong interest in tackling healthcare inequities and improving access to clinical trials. -

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsWe study the physics of cell migration, division, and morphogenesis in 3D, as well cell-matrix mechanotransduction, or the process by which cells sense and respond to mechanical properties of the extracellular matrices. For both these areas, we use engineered biomaterials for 3D culture as artificial extracellular matrices.

Vanika Chawla
Clinical Assistant Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioVanika Chawla (she/her), M.D., FRCPC is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford. Dr. Chawla completed her medical school training at the University of Calgary and psychiatry residency at the University of Toronto. She completed a fellowship in Student Mental Health at Stanford University. Dr. Chawla works in a variety of clinics with a focus on student mental health, cultural psychiatry and lifestyle psychiatry. She utilizes a combination of integrative treatments including lifestyle changes (sleep, nutrition, exercise), medication management and psychotherapy (ACT, DBT, CBT, psychodynamic), and provides trauma-informed and culturally contextualized care. Her additional clinical and research interests include the integration of therapeutic yoga into mental health care. She is also interested in the use of digital health as a novel and innovative way to increase access to mental health care.

Bertha Chen, MD

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Chen’s research examines the molecular causes of urinary incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction. Recognizing that urinary incontinence linked to demise of smooth muscle sphincter function, she is investigating the potential use of stem cell regeneration to restore muscle capacity.

Can Chen
Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Primary Care and Population Health
BioDr. Can Chen is a board-certified physician specializing in internal medicine and geriatric medicine, with a clinical focus on post-acute and long-term care. She is a Certified Medical Director by PALTmed (Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association) and serves as the Medical Director for The Sequoias Portola Valley Continuing Care Residential Community, where she is committed to enhancing the quality of care for senior residents.
Dr. Chen excels in shared decision-making and creating individualized care plans, emphasizing personalized approaches to advance care planning, dementia care, and beyond. Her dedication to improving quality standards in geriatric care extends to her involvement in quality improvement initiatives, interdisciplinary team education, and community education in senior living environments. Dr. Chen actively engages in guiding seniors and their families through the complexities of healthcare and aging, advocating for informed and compassionate care. -
Christopher T Chen, MD

BioDr. Chen is a board-certified, fellowship-trained specialist in oncology and hematology. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Division of Oncology in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Chen delivers comprehensive, compassionate care for patients in need of early drug development clinical trials and patients with gastrointestinal cancers. As a researcher, he leads the early drug development group and studies how tumor heterogeneity limits the clinical benefit of anticancer therapies in order to accelerate development of novel therapeutic strategies. Dr. Chen’s work has appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Science Advances, Journal of Oncology Practice, and Health Services Research.
Dr. Chen attended Harvard College, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in molecular biology. He went to medical school at Washington University in St. Louis on a full-tuition merit scholarship, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, and did his residency training in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and hematology/oncology fellowship in the combined Harvard Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Massachusetts General Hospital program. As a fellow, he received the NIH T-32 Ruth L. Kirchstein-National Service Research Award in Cancer Biology for his work exploring the molecular structure of metastatic solid tumors.
Dr. Chen is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Society for Medical Oncology, and American Association for Cancer Research. -
Diana Chen
Clinical Associate Professor, Pediatrics - Pulmonary Medicine
BioDr. Chen is a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. She grew up in the Bay Area and attended undergraduate school at UC Berkeley (Go Bears!). She ventured across the country received her graduate and medical degrees at Boston University School of Medicine. After experiencing cold and snowy winters of the east coast, she returned to the Bay Area where she completed her pediatric residency and pulmonology fellowship at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. She joined Bay Area Pediatric Pulmonary Medical Group and subsequently the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at Stanford University in 2015. She then followed her husband and moved to Los Angeles in 2016 where she joined the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at UCLA as Associate Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center. A few years later, she decided to return to her roots in the Bay Area. She made her way back to Stanford University and rejoined the pediatric pulmonology group in November 2019. She enjoys caring for children, from infancy and beyond, with pulmonary diseases and developing relationships with their families. Her particular interests include bronchopulmonary dysplasia, asthma, neuromuscular disease, cystic fibrosis, and evaluation of complex airways with bronchoscopy. She also has interest in quality improvement and policy and procedure development.

Eunice S. Chen, MD

BioDr. Chen is a board-certified family medicine doctor practicing concierge medicine. She is a clinical assistant professor in the Stanford Department of Medicine, Division of Primary Care and Population Health.
Her interests include primary care, women’s and men’s health, geriatric medicine, mental health, travel medicine, and preventive care.
Dr. Chen values the importance of mutual trust in a patient-doctor healthcare partnership. With compassion, sincerity, humility, and respect, she works closely with her patients in a collaborative spirit. Her goal is to help them navigate the pathway towards the best possible health and quality of life through shared decision making.

On Leave from 01/20/2025 To 03/19/2025Current Research and Scholarly InterestsOur laboratory combines chemistry and developmental biology to investigate the molecular events that regulate embryonic patterning, tissue regeneration, and tumorigenesis. We are currently using genetic and small-molecule approaches to study the molecular mechanisms of Hedgehog signaling, and we are developing chemical technologies to perturb and observe the genetic programs that underlie vertebrate development.

Jennifer Chen, MD
Clinical Professor, Dermatology
BioJennifer K. Chen, M.D., is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology. She co-directs the medical student sub-internship program. She completed medical school at Johns Hopkins University, residency at Johns Hopkins and University of California, Irvine, and completed a Howard Hughes Fellowship at Stanford University. Her clinical interests include contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, complex medical dermatology, skin cancer, and inpatient dermatology. She has served on the Board of Directors for the American Contact Dermatitis Society and as an invited member of the Contact Dermatitis Committee for the World Allergy Organization. She is currently the President-Elect of the American Contact Dermatitis Society.

Julie Chen
Clinical Associate Professor, Medicine - Endocrinology, Gerontology, & Metabolism
BioJulie Chen, MD, is a board-certified endocrinologist and clinical assistant professor in the division of endocrinology at Stanford University. Dr. Chen diagnoses and treats a wide range of conditions with a focus on endocrine tumors that affect the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pituitary glands. She also works closely with cancer specialists to treat the endocrine side effects associated with immunotherapy. Dr. Chen recognizes that patients are more than their disease. She views her relationship with each patient as a partnership and develops a personalized care plan for each one. Dr. Chen is committed to helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes through comprehensive treatment.
Dr. Chen is also passionate about medical education and mentoring. She currently serves as the Program Director for the Endocrinology Fellowship Program at Stanford University. She has given numerous lectures to medical students, residents, and fellows. -

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsWhat distinguishes us humans from other animals is our ability to undergo complex behavior. The synapses are the structural connection between neurons that mediates the communication between neurons, which underlies our various cognitive function. My research program aims to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms that underlie synapse function during behavior in the developing and mature brain, and how synapse function is altered during mental retardation.

Meng Chen, MD

BioDr. Chen is a double board-certified, fellowship-trained specialist in allergy and immunology and internal medicine. She is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.
With training in pediatric and adult allergy/immunology, Dr. Chen provides expertise in chronic urticaria, angioedema, drug allergy, severe asthma, food allergy and allergic rhinitis. She excels at addressing the impact of allergies on quality of life and productivity. Driven by a desire to help people and deliver exceptional care, Dr. Chen takes great pride in the effectiveness and efficiency of her services, her attention to detail, and the excellent patient satisfaction scores she earns. She has trained and worked in a broad range of clinical care settings, including private practice, the Veterans Administration, major health systems, and academic medical centers, like Stanford Health Care.
Dr. Chen has extensive research experience, from study start-up to manuscript preparation. Dr. Chen has authored numerous scholarly publications on topics including urticaria, angioedema and food allergies. She has presented the findings of her research to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Annual Scientific Meeting and other conferences. Her work has appeared in the journals Pediatric Allergy; the Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; JAMA; as well as book chapters on immunology. Dr. Chen has received honors and awards for her scholarship. She is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; and, the Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Foundation of Northern California.
Dr. Chen’s academic passion is medical education and fostering the growth of medical trainees. She is particularly interested in harnessing the power of coaching to promote self-efficacy and wellness in medicine. She serves as the Well-Being Director for the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine and also as a Faculty Coach in the School of Medicine’s Student Guidance Program.
