She graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. She is interested in orthopaedic surgery with research in pediatric osteonecrosis, postoperative pain management, and carpometacarpal osteoarthritis.

Megan Sparrow

BioI am a medical student at Stanford University School of Medicine with a background in molecular biology and stem cell research. I received my B.S. in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology with a minor in Biomedical Research from UCLA, where I became interested in developmental biology and stem cell-based embryo models through my work in the Clark Lab. After graduation, I joined the Briganti Lab at UC San Diego as a Staff Research Associate and Lab Manager, studying the molecular mechanisms of dilated cardiomyopathy using iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes. Building on these experiences, my current interests center on women’s health, embryo and stem cell research, and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. In my personal time, you will find me at the beach, hiking, baking, or attempting to garden.

Alaa Taha

BioAlaa completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Western University and is an MD student at Stanford. Alaa's research integrates machine learning, image analysis, and anatomical coordinate systems for brain mapping and deep brain stimulation. Alaa is passionate about global health equity, open-source medical software, and advancing stereotactic neurosurgery through interpretable and reproducible methods.

Blake Thomson
MD Student with Scholarly Concentration in Health Services & Policy Research, expected graduation Spring 2027
BioBlake Thomson is a health disparities researcher and medical student at Stanford. An epidemiologist by training, he holds an MPhil in Epidemiology from the University of Cambridge and a DPhil (PhD) in Population Health from the University of Oxford. He has held several posts focused on health equity science, including most recently as Principal Scientist in Cancer Disparities Research at the American Cancer Society.
Blake has authored or co-authored more than 30 articles in medical and public health journals, including The Lancet and JAMA. His first-author publications have appeared in such journals as The Lancet Global Health, JAMA Internal Medicine, JAMA Oncology, JAMA Neurology, Chest, and Circulation, among others. This work has received media attention from such outlets as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Nature, and National Geographic. His clinical and academic interests are focused on the prevention and control of common and debilitating diseases, particularly among those historically underrepresented in medical research.
