William Rowland Goodyer, MD/PhD
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology)
BioDr. Goodyer is a physician scientist who specializes in Pediatric Cardiology and Electrophysiology. Will graduated from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) with a BSc in Biology prior to completing his graduate studies at Stanford University in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). He subsequently completed residency training in Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital before returning to Stanford to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology and advanced fellowship in Pediatric Electrophysiology. He additionally performed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Sean Wu laboratory at the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute where he developed the first comprehensive single-cell gene atlas of the entire murine cardiac conduction system (CCS) as well as pioneered the generation of optical imaging agents for the real-time visualization of the CCS to help prevent accidental surgical damage during heart surgeries. Will's lab (www.goodyerlab.com) focuses on basic science advances aimed at the improved diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.

Declan Grabb

Fellow in Psychiatry and Behavioral SciencesBioDeclan Grabb, MD, is a forensic psychiatry fellow at Stanford and the first AI Fellow in Stanford's Lab for Mental Health Innovation. He has published widely on AI in user safety and mental healthcare, with first-author publications in both computer science conferences and medical journals. Recently, he collaborated with Common Sense Media to create a family guide on AI Companions, a project featured by the Associated Press, Fortune, and Mashable. His work has earned significant recognition, including the American Psychiatric Association’s inaugural Innovation in Psychiatry Award for fine-tuning language models to assist in mental health assessments, and Stanford’s Trailblazing Trainee Award for research on biases in AI models used for psychiatric diagnosis. His primary focus is on understanding the impact of technology on mental health—its benefits as well as its risks.

Our current work focuses on determining the role of altered mitochondrial dynamics in sepsis-induced multi-organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Specifically, we focus on understanding the mechanisms that mediate derangements in mitochondrial fission and autophagy in sepsis.

My role encompasses responsibilities as Associate Dean, Industry Relations and Digital Health, In this capacity, I lead Stanford Medicine’s Office of Industry Relations and Digital Health (IRDH) whose mission is to foster relationships that will promote discovery, accelerate the use of technologies that advance human health, and translate today’s breakthroughs into tomorrow’s standard of care. IRDH serves as the front door for organizations interested in exploring a strategic relationship with Stanford Medicine. The work is part of Stanford Medicine's Strategy Team, led by Priya Singh.
I also co-lead the Stanford Medicine Catalyst program with Dr. Euan Ashley. We focus on discovering, supporting and propelling healthcare innovation from within the Stanford community. BioKevin Helenius is a board-certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He graduated with his Master Physician Assistant (MPA) degree from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA. Kevin is also a board-certified athletic trainer (ATC) and began his career in sports medicine as the athletic trainer at a local high school in San Jose, CA. Kevin recently returned to the Sports Medicine clinic at Stanford Health Care, where he previously worked prior to his PA education. He currently assists Dr. Tim McAdams in surgery and provides patient care in the outpatient clinic setting. I also completed an intern year in Pediatrics resident at Boston Children’s Hospital before transitioning to cardiothoracic surgery. I received my MD from Harvard Medical School in the Health Sciences and Technology program joint with MIT. I trained as a biomedical engineering at the Johns Hopkins University with a focus in instrumentation.
I've interests in medical devices spanning from assistive robotics, surgical devices, to point of care devices. I have extensive experience working in the electronics and coding aspect of device development.
My long term goal is to become a congenital cardiovascular surgeon and improve the field of transplantation (partial and whole), congenital cardiac surgery techniques, and congenital mechanical circulatory support. This vocation comes from my personal experience receiving a heart transplant in 1999. -
Yang Hu, MD, PhD

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsThe ultimate goal of the laboratory is to develop efficient therapeutic strategies to achieve CNS neural repair, through promoting neuroprotection, axon regeneration and functional recovery.
More specifically, we study retinal ganglion cell (RGC) and optic nerve in various optic neuropathies including traumatic, glaucomatous and inflammatory optic nerve injuries to fully understand the molecular mechanisms of CNS neurodegeneration and axon regeneration failure. -
Hehua (Hannah) Huang

Fellow in PathologyBioDr. Hehua "Hannah" Huang is an Anatomic Pathology (AP) board-certified pathologist with extensive clinical and research experience. She is currently a Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellow at Stanford University (2024-2025) and will pursue a Cytopathology Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital & Massachusetts General Hospital (BWH & MGH) in 2025.
Dr. Huang earned her M.D. from Sun Yat-Sen University of Clinical Medicine in Guangzhou, China, practiced internal medicine, and then earned an M.S. in Clinical Pharmacology from Peking Union Medical College in Beijing, China. She completed her Anatomic Pathology residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Her research experience includes Phase I clinical studies involving pharmacokinetics and developing and validating liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) assays. Her research interests encompass next-generation sequencing (NGS), precision medicine, molecular tumor profiling, liquid biopsy and fine needle aspiration (FNA) in cytopathology. -
