Linnea Burke

BioLinnea Burke is a general surgery resident at Loma Linda University Health and a research fellow in the Division of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Stanford University. Her research interests include minimally invasive and bariatric surgery, healthcare disparities and implications on clinical outcomes, health services and policy, quality improvement, and the application of AI to improve surgical care.

Elan Chanel Burton, MD, MHA
Clinical Associate Professor, Cardiothoracic Surgery
BioDr. Burton is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon. She is also a clinical associate professor in the Stanford University School of Medicine Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Section Chief for Stanford Medicine Affiliates.
She offers her patients exceptional expertise in advanced cardiothoracic surgical techniques. For each patient, she develops a customized, comprehensive, and compassionate care plan.
Dr. Burton has completed specialized training in robotic technique for minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass (MIDCAB). This procedure enables surgical access to the heart with a smaller incision than other coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) procedures.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Burton has conducted research on health disparities in cardiovascular disease, diversity in radiology and molecular imaging, and other topics. She received an innovation research grant from the National Science Foundation for her work on an app for emotional support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Burton has made presentations to her peers as a guest lecturer on subjects including coronary artery disease, primary cardiac tumors, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. In addition, she has made presentations to the Western Thoracic Surgical Association, American Heart Association, International Conference on Clinical Ethics and Consultation, and other organizations.
Dr. Burton has published articles on advanced surgical techniques as well as issues such as balancing work and family during the COVID-19 pandemic, plus health disparities, biases in healthcare, and social determinants of health. Her work has appeared in the JAMA Network Open, Journal of Cardiac Surgery, JTCVS Techniques, International Social Work, and elsewhere.
Dr. Burton has earned honors including the Coleman Connolly Award in Thoracic Surgery, which recognizes the exemplary efforts of thoracic surgery residents. She also won the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Resident Achievement Award and the Dr. Albert G. Marrangoni Research Award.
She is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians–American Society of Internal Medicine, Lillehei Surgical Society, Western Thoracic Surgical Association, American Society of Professionals in Patient Safety, Women Health Care Executives, Association of Women Surgeons, Society of Black Academic Surgeons, and American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management.
She has volunteered her time and expertise as a high school medical club faculty mentor, as an elementary school community health nutrition interventionist, and with the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society. -

BioWith over a decade of LGBTQ+ affirming healthcare experience from care coordination and program development to education and training, Bláz Bush joined Stanford Medicine as the inaugural Executive Director of the LGBTQ+ Health Program in 2022. Bláz expertly leads strategic growth for the program across the Stanford Medicine Enterprise, represents the program and initiatives to internal and external stakeholders, unifies the multidisciplinary efforts for LGBTQ+ health, develops equitable best practice curriculum and trainings, and facilitates restorative circles for students, faculty, and staff.

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy research interest is focused on the improvement of clinical immunosuppression. I am involved in the evaluation of new immunosuppressive drugs, potentially more efficacious or less toxic. My ultimate goal is to achieve tolerance, a state that would obviate the need for any drugs. I am an investigator part of a multidisciplinary tolerance induction project using total lymphoid irradiation and donor hematopoietic stem cells infusion after living donor kidney transplantation.

Zachary Butzin-Dozier
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Clinical Informatics) and of Medicine (Computational Medicine)
BioZach Butzin-Dozier is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Clinical Informatics, with a joint appointment in the Department of Medicine, Division of Computational Medicine. His research applies machine learning and artificial intelligence for causal inference via electronic health record data. He draws from large-scale databases, such as Epic Cosmos, PEDSnet, and the National Clinical Cohort Collaborative, to answer pressing questions in pediatric and infectious disease medicine. His research evaluates vaccine effectiveness, drug repurposing, and the long-term sequelae of viral infection, including Long COVID. He aims to bridge rigorous biostatistical methodology with clinically meaningful research questions. He received his PhD in Epidemiology and MPH from UC Berkeley, and he is an NIAID K01 recipient.

Paul Cabellon

BioPaul is a career storyteller and brand development expert with an uncanny ability to build bridges between cultures, industries and the technologies that shape them.
His experience spans emerging technological areas in AI, national security, bioterrorism, nanotechnology, aerospace, autonomous transportation and global development. He is currently the Sr. Director of External Communications for space-based intelligence company BlackSky.
Paul previously led all brand, marketing and communications for Bill Gates’ Global Good technology invention fund at private equity firm Intellectual Ventures. He has created and led the execution of award-winning integrated communications campaigns, including two SABRE Awards, for Fortune 100 clients at PR agencies Grayling and Waggener Edstrom. Paul was the communications lead for various stealth fighter and drone sensor programs at Northrop Grumman, including the F-35, F-22 and Global Hawk programs.
He began his public relations career as a U.S. Marine Officer attaining the rank of Captain and led all publicity efforts for numerous crisis incidents including the 2001 Anthrax attack on the U.S. Capitol. He is a graduate of the Defense Information School at Fort Meade, Maryland, the strategic marketing executive program at The Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, and received an M.A. in Communications from Johns Hopkins University. Paul completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington, receiving a B.A. in International Studies as well as an additional B.A. in Comparative History of Ideas.
Paul serves as a board member and trustee at the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle, Washington, and is an advisor for the NATO DIANA and Defense Innovation Unit startup accelerator programs. Paul is a visiting scholar at the Hoover Institution exploring the intersection of agentic AI, national security and behavioral intent. He is an avid tennis player and enjoys spending time in nature with his family in the Pacific Northwest. -

BioMy research program investigates the neurobiological basis of cognitive dysfunction across the lifespan, focusing on two critical populations: children with neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD) and elders with neurodegenerative conditions (e.g., Parkinson’s disease). By employing a highly interdisciplinary approach that integrates cognitive science, advanced functional neuroimaging, and computational modeling, I aim to delineate the neurocognitive processes governing both typical and atypical brain development and aging. The ultimate goal is to advance our understanding of the factors contributing to cognitive deficits and translate these findings into improved diagnostic tools and precision treatment strategies.

BioRene Caissie is an entrepreneur, researcher, and former surgeon who holds the position of CEO and Co-Founder at Medeloop.ai, a company dedicated to revolutionizing clinical research and trials through innovative AI technology. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he teaches entrepreneurship in Digital Health and A.I.. In addition, he lectures within the Stanford Master of Science in Clinical Informatics Management (MCIM) program, mentoring students through their practicum experiences. Furthermore, he provides instruction at the Translational Medicine Program (MTM) at UCSF, focusing on the translational challenges in medicine. He is also a member of the XPRIZE Brain Trust Team, where he lends his expertise to foster healthcare innovations. BioAlison Callahan is a Research Scientist in the Division of Computational Medicine and a Data Scientist on the Stanford Health Care Data Science team. Her current research uses informatics and artificial intelligence to improve rare disease screening. Her work in the SHC Data Science team focuses on developing and implementing methods to assess and identify high value applications of AI in healthcare settings.

We are working on 3 forms of muscular dystrophy.
We created induced pluripotent stem cells from patient fibroblasts, added therapeutic genes, differentiated, and engrafted the cells. -

BioDavid B. Camarillo is Associate Professor of Bioengineering, (by courtesy) Mechanical Engineering and Neurosurgery at Stanford University. Dr. Camarillo holds a B.S.E in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University, a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and completed postdoctoral fellowships in Biophysics at the UCSF and Biodesign Innovation at Stanford. Dr. Camarillo worked in the surgical robotics industry at Intuitive Surgical and Hansen Medical, before launching his laboratory at Stanford in 2012. His current research focuses on precision human measurement for multiple clinical and physiological areas including the brain, heart, lungs, and reproductive system. Dr. Camarillo has been awarded the Hellman Fellowship, the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Program award, among other honors including multiple best paper awards in brain injury and robotic surgery. His research has been funded by the NIH, NSF, DoD, as well as corporations and private philanthropy. Matthew John Campbell

BioI was born in Providence, RI and went to undergraduate at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in upstate NY for Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering. I worked for my first year out of undergraduate as process engineer in PA. From there I transitioned out of the private sector and commissioned as Surface Warfare Officer (Nuclear) in the U.S. Navy through OCS. I was on active duty for approximately 10 years including tours on the USS DECATUR and USS CARL VINSON. Both ships were based out of San Diego and all my deployments were in the Asia-Pacific region. My final tour was with Navy ROTC as Officer in Charge of NROTC Unit 73 in MA, during which I taught Leadership and Ethics and completed my M.S. in Engineering Management. I am currently studying Medicine at Stanford University with an anticipated graduation date of 2028.
