Danielle Kamis, MD
Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioDr. Kamis completed her residency at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine. She has been published in multiple scientific journals working on studies of schizophrenia and sports psychiatry. Dr. Kamis co-edited the first book of its kind on a Manual of Sports Psychiatry after excelling in the sport of fencing at the University of Pennsylvania where she was a four-time NCAA championship qualifier, All American, Academic-All Ivy honoree, as well as captain of Penn’s fencing team. In addition, she has worked extensively with Dr. David Burns and his team in his extremely effective Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model and has worked with many noted Stanford Sleep Medicine physicians including Dr. Emmanual Mignot focusing on optimization of sleep. She has also concentrated her focus on women’s wellness as well as studied the practice of medical hypnosis. Dr. Kamis is fluent in Spanish and continues her passion of academic research in psychiatric investigations of Argentina as well as taught mindfulness and meditation courses in other countries.

Matthew Kanan
Professor of Chemistry and Senior Fellow at the Precourt Institute for Energy
BioMatt Kanan is a Professor of Chemistry and Senior Fellow at the Precourt Institute for Energy at Stanford. Matt’s research group works across multiple fields of chemistry and engineering with applications for sustainable plastics, critical mineral recovery, and carbon management. Their work has led to several inventions in these areas, including new performance-advantaged bioplastics, electrochemical systems to recycle acid and base, metal-free catalysts for C1 transformations, and thermal mineral conversion processes. Matt is the co-founder of ReSource Chemical Corp., an Oakland-based start-up commercializing manufacturing technology developed in his lab, and Mafix, Inc., a spin-out developing mineral fertilizers that remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Prior to joining the Stanford faculty in 2009, Matt did his Ph.D. studies in organic chemistry at Harvard and postdoctoral research at MIT in inorganic chemistry. He earned his B.A. in chemistry from Rice University in 2000.

BioDr. Kang is an interventional cardiologist who specializes in the treatment of structural heart disease. He is an expert in complex coronary interventions, transcatheter aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valve replacements, transcatheter mitral and tricuspid valve repair, left atrial appendage occlusion, PFO/septal defect closure, alcohol septal ablation, paravalvular leak closure, balloon pulmonary angioplasty, and pulmonary vein stenting.
A Bay Area native, he graduated from Stanford University and obtained his medical degree at Yale University. He came back to Stanford to train in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology before completing an advanced structural interventions fellowship at Ford Hospital. -

At Stanford, Kanjemba’s research focuses on the commercialisation of climate adaptation strategies - specifically, developing bankable models for debushing and bush encroachment in Namibia. By aggregating complex environmental variables and structuring them for carbon credit markets, he bridges the gap between national climate mandates and aggressive commercial viability, ensuring that natural resource assets are not just legally sound, but financially bankable.
Kanjemba brings a 360-degree perspective to the energy transition, built on a track record across international organisations, government, and private equity. His experience spans shaping global energy policy at the International Energy Agency (IEA), managing investment disputes at the Energy Charter Secretariat, and driving project sourcing at the UNDP Rome Centre for Energy and Climate. On the commercial and institutional front, his background includes Oil & Gas M&A, Private Equity portfolio management, institutional building at the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), and project development with the Namibian Ports Authority.
Currently, Kanjemba serves as the Economic Advisor for Climate Change for the Republic of Namibia under the NDC Partnership (turning national environmental aspirations into an actionable, bankable pipeline) while also helping to shape the "Gas for Africa" narrative through his work with Hawilti.
As the Founder of Swangeni, he operates as a commercial strategist, bringing together multidisciplinary expertise to solve complex bottlenecks, mitigate market risks, and structure investment-ready opportunities across the African energy, climate, and mining sectors. Chi-Chang Kao
Professor of Photon Science and Senior Fellow at the Precourt Institute for Energy
BioChi-Chang Kao works on the development of experimental methods exploiting the unique properties of high-brightness storage rings and X-ray Free Electron Lasers (XFEL), and their applications to materials science. Currently, he is working on using X-ray scattering in combination with high magnetic fields to study high-temperature superconductors, inelastic X-ray scattering study of materials using XFEL, and X-ray study of materials for energy applications.
Kao served as the fifth director of the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory from November 2012 to February 2023. Prior to that, he served at Brookhaven National Laboratory for nearly 25 years in a variety of positions, including five years as chairperson of the National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS). He was elected a fellow of the American Physical Society in 2006 and was named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2010 for his many contributions to resonant elastic and inelastic X-ray scattering techniques and their application to materials physics, as well as for his leadership at the NSLS. -

Zerina Kapetanovic

BioZerina Kapetanovic is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University working in the area of low-power wireless communication, sensing, and Internet of Things (IoT) systems. Prior to starting at Stanford, Kapetanovic was a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft Research in the Networking Research Group and Research for Industry Group.
Kapetanovic's research has been recognized by the Yang Research Award, the Distinguished Dissertation Award from the University of Washington. She also received the Microsoft Research Distinguished Dissertation Grant and was selected to attend the 2020 UC Berkeley Rising Stars in EECS Workshop. Kapetanovic completed her PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington in 2022. -
Michael S. Kapiloff, MD, PhD

Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Michael S. Kapiloff is a faculty member in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Medicine (Cardiovascular Medicine) and a member of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute. Although Dr. Kapiloff was at one time a Board-Certified General Pediatrician, he is currently involved in full-time basic science and translational research. His laboratory studies the basic molecular mechanisms underlying the response of the retinal ganglion cell and cardiac myocyte to disease. The longstanding interest of his laboratory is the role in intracellular signal transduction of multimolecular complexes organized by scaffold proteins. Recently, his lab has also been involved in the translation of these concepts into new therapies, including the development of new AAV gene therapy biologics for the prevention and treatment of heart failure and for neuroprotection in the eye.

Aharon Kapitulnik
Theodore and Sydney Rosenberg Professor of Applied Physics and Professor of Physics
BioAharon Kapitulnik is the Theodore and Sydney Rosenberg Professor in Applied Physics at the Departments of Applied Physics and Physics at Stanford University. His research focuses on experimental condensed matter physics, while opportunistically, also apply his methods to tabletop experimental studies of fundamental phenomena in physics. His recent studies cover a broad spectrum of phenomena associated with the behavior of correlated and disordered electron systems, particularly in reduced dimensions, and the development of effective instrumentation to detect subtle signatures of physical phenomena.
Among other recognitions, his activities earned him the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship (1986-90), a Presidential Young Investigator Award (1987-92), a Sackler Scholar at Tel-Aviv University (2006), the Heike Kamerlingh Onnes Prize for Superconductivity Experiment (2009), a RTRA (Le Triangle de la Physique) Senior Chair (2010), and the Oliver Buckley Condensed Matter Prize of the American Physical Society (2015). Aharon Kapitulnik is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Kapitulnik holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Tel-Aviv University (1984). -

Jarosław Kapuściński

BioJarosław Kapuściński is an intermedia composer and pianist born in Poland. He studied piano and composition at the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw and furthered his education in multimedia and intermedia art during doctoral studies at the University of California, San Diego, and a residency at Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada.
Kapuściński presented his works at numerous gallery and concert venues worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the National Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, National Arts Centre in Canada, EMPAC, ZKM and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. He has also received awards for his intermedia art at the UNESCO Film sur l'Art Festival in Paris, the VideoArt Festival in Locarno, and the International Festival of New Cinema and New Media in Montréal.
Apart from his career as a composer and performer, Kapuściński is also an educator. He has lectured internationally and held positions at institutions such as McGill University in Montreal and the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Composition at Stanford University. -
Spyros Karadimas, MD, PhD

BioDr. Spyridon Karadimas is a board-certified, fellowship-trained cerebrovascular neurosurgeon and physician-scientist with Stanford Health Care. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Karadimas offers advanced, personalized treatment for complex vascular disorders of the brain, neck, and spine in both adults and children. His expertise spans brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cavernous malformations, arteriovenous fistulas, Moyamoya disease, stroke, and carotid artery disease. Dr. Karadimas is a rare combination of surgeon, scientist, and innovator dedicated to advancing patient care and shaping the future of cerebrovascular neurosurgery.
Dr. Karadimas directs a basic and translational research program focused on the neural circuits of motor control and stroke recovery. His laboratory integrates systems neuroscience, in vivo imaging, electrophysiology, and brain-computer interface development to uncover the principles of neuroplasticity, or how the brain adapts to change. This knowledge allows him to create new ways to help people move again after a brain injury.
Dr. Karadimas has published his research as first author in peer-reviewed journals such as Nature, Nature Neuroscience and Science Translational Medicine. His work has received editorial highlight at Nature Reviews Neuroscience. He has presented to his peers at international, national, and regional meetings, including those of the American Academy of Neurological Surgery, American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), European Association of Neurosurgical Societies, and World Federation of Skull Base Societies.
Dr. Karadimas is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and American Association of Neurological Surgeons as well as member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the North American Skull Base Society. -
