Visiting Scholar, Orthopaedic SurgeryBioI am an orthopedic surgeon and assistant professor at Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU), serving in the Department of Orthopaedics at Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital, Taiwan. I completed my Ph.D. at KMU in 2023, focusing on orthopedic research and innovation.
My clinical expertise and research interests encompass orthopedic trauma, hand surgery, osteoporosis, and fracture repair. My work has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the 2018 Merit Paper Award from the Taiwanese Osteoporosis Association and the 2019 AOTAP Scientific Congress Merit Paper Award.
As part of a dynamic research team, I have contributed to significant medical device innovations. Our developments include a novel targeting device for screw positioning and an advanced surgical tool for carpal tunnel release. These innovations have secured patents across multiple jurisdictions, including the United States, Taiwan, China, European nations, and Singapore. Our achievements have been honored with the Taiwan National Innovation Award for four consecutive years (2019, 2020, 2022, and 2024).
Currently, I am a visiting scholar in Dr. Yang's laboratory at Stanford University, where I am expanding my expertise in innovation, research, and development while fostering international collaborations. This aligns with my commitment to advancing orthopedic care through global knowledge exchange and professional networking. -

Wei-Sheng Lee

BioDr. Lee is a staff scientist at SLAC National Accelerator Lab and a PI at the Stanford Institute of Materials and Energy Sciences (SIMES) at SLAC. His research interest is to understand and control collective behaviors in quantum materials by using and developing x-ray techniques, including x-ray/photoemission spectroscopy, resonant/non-resonant inelastic x-ray scattering and time-resolved x-ray scattering using synchrotron radiation light source and x-ray free-electron laser.

Wen-Shin Lee, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor, Ophthalmology
BioDr. Wen-Shin Lee, MD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Stanford University School of Medicine, and the Clinic Chief and Medical Director of the Byers Eye Institute Tri-Valley.
Dr. Lee is a fellowship trained, board certified ophthalmologist with expertise in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, cataracts, and anterior segment disease. Working with patients to provide individually tailored treatment plans, he incorporates the full spectrum of conventional and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries. He also performs complex and refractive cataract surgery utilizing advanced technology intraocular lenses. His goal is to provide the highest level of care to each patient with evidence-based medicine and cutting-edge technology.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Lee is actively involved in clinical research and education at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He is a principal investigator and co-investigator on multiple clinical trials and research studies with a focus on glaucoma. He is the resident glaucoma rotation director for the Stanford ophthalmology residency and co-director of the Bay Area Ophthalmology Course. He has developed and leads microsurgical training programs for medical students, residents, and fellows at Stanford. In addition, he serves on the Education Committee and Clinical Competency Committee for the Stanford Department of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Lee was educated at the University of California, Berkeley, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in molecular and cell biology. He then received his medical degree at Harvard Medical School, followed by his ophthalmology residency at the Stanford University School of Medicine, and glaucoma fellowship at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. Upon completion of his training he joined the clinical faculty at Stanford.
Dr. Lee serves as the Clinic Chief and Medical Director of the Byers Eye Institute Tri-Valley, where his goal is to deliver world class eye care to the Tri-Valley region and beyond. -

Yong Suk Lee
BioYong Suk Lee is the SK Center Fellow at Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies and is affiliated with the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center, the Center for Global Poverty and Development, and the Center for East Asian Studies.
Lee's research is in the fields of labor economics, technology and entrepreneurship, and urban economics. His current research examines digital technology and labor, focusing on how new technologies will affect labor and how societies react to new technologies. In relation to technology and labor, Lee's research also examines various aspects of entrepreneurship, e.g., entrepreneurship and economic growth, entrepreneurship education, and factors that promote productive entrepreneurship.
Prior to joining Stanford, Lee was an assistant professor of economics at Williams College in Massachusetts. He received his PhD in Economics from Brown University, a Master of Public Policy from Duke University, and bachelor's degree and master's degree in architecture from Seoul National University. Lee also worked as a real estate development consultant and architecture designer as he transitioned from architecture to economics. -

On Leave from 01/01/2025 To 06/30/2025BioYOUNG JEAN LEE is a playwright, director, and filmmaker who has been called “the most adventurous downtown playwright of her generation” by The New York Times and “one of the best experimental playwrights in America” by Time Out New York. She’s the first Asian-American female playwright to have had a play produced on Broadway. She has written and directed ten shows in New York with Young Jean Lee's Theater Company. Her plays have been performed in more than eighty cities around the world and have been published by Dramatists Play Service, Samuel French, and Theatre Communications Group. Her short films have been presented at The Locarno International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and BAMcinemaFest. Lee is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, two OBIE Awards, a Prize in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a PEN Literary Award, a United States Artists Fellowship, and the Windham-Campbell Prize. She is a Denning Family Professor in the Arts and Nina C. Crocker Faculty Scholar at Stanford University.

Yunkyeong Lee
Postdoctoral Scholar, Endocrinology and Metabolism
BioYun is a postdoctoral research scholar in Dr Anna Gloyn lab (Translational Genomics of Diabetes Lab). Since she joined the lab in August 2022, she has been involved in projects investigating type 2 diabetes (T2D) susceptible genes and their molecular mechanisms for pancreatic beta-cell dysfunction under the mentorship of Dr Gloyn. In particular, she is focusing on how T2D effector transcripts alter the autophagy/mitophagy pathways in human pancreatic beta-cells and how this may lead to beta-cell failure, mitochondrial dysfunction and T2D pathology. She has been also digging into genetic mutations which are a cause of neonatal diabetes using CRISPR genome editing technique in human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) line.
During her PhD, she focused on the roles of an epigenetic regulator and its molecular machineries in the pathogenesis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)/now metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Besides, she studied the correlation between endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-mediated unfolded protein response (UPR) signalling and autophagy, and further their effects on various cells using some plant extracts. Her research goal is to expand our knowledge about the cellular and molecular mechanisms of T2D and explore therapeutic targets and/or strategies. -
