Jenna Reisler
Fellow in Peds/Clinical Informatics
BioJenna Reisler, MD is an Internal Medicine-trained Clinical Informatics Fellow passionate about designing clinical decision support tools that reduce clinician burden and improve patient outcomes. Her work spans CDS for falls prevention, human-centered EHR workflow design, and quality improvement in ambulatory care and inpatient settings. Recent projects include a co-investigator role on an EPIC-based falls prevention CDS tool published in Applied Clinical Informatics, and co-PI of an ACGME Back to Bedside–funded home visit program integrating social determinants of health into residency training.

Allan L. Reiss
Howard C. Robbins Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Professor of Radiology
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy laboratory, the Center for Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences Research (CIBSR), focuses on multi-level scientific study of individuals with typical and atypical brain structure and function. Data are obtained from genetic analyses, structural and functional neuroimaging studies, assessment of endocrinological status, neurobehavioral assessment, and analysis of pertinent environmental factors. Our overarching focus is to model how brain disorders arise and to develop disease-specific treatments.

Marissa Reitsma
Assistant Professor of Health Policy
BioMarissa Reitsma, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Health Policy at Stanford University School of Medicine. She obtained her PhD in Health Policy at Stanford in 2024, during which time she was a Knight-Hennessy Scholar, Stanford Data Science Scholar, and NSF Graduate Research Fellow. Previously, she worked on the Global Burden of Disease Study at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. Reitsma develops computational models to quantify disease burden, evaluate the benefits and costs of interventions, and support evidence-based policies across a range of priorities in public health, with a focus on health equity.
Reitsma aims to build simulation models that integrate the overlapping risk factors, social determinants, and syndemic conditions that disproportionately impact marginalized populations and contribute to health inequities. She also investigates the potential for multimodal data synthesis to inform these models, improve population health decision-making, and reduce health disparities. Her work spans multiple communicable and non-communicable conditions linked to behavioral risk factors, including tobacco use, drug use, and obesity. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she collaborated closely with state and local public health agencies to inform their decision-making. -

David A. Relman
Thomas C. and Joan M. Merigan Professor and Professor of Microbiology and Immunology
Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy investigative program focuses on human-microbe interactions and human microbial ecology, and primarily concerns the ecology of human indigenous microbial communities; a secondary interest concerns the classification of humans with systemic infectious diseases, based on features of genome-wide gene transcript abundance patterns and pther aspects of the host response.

Bijie Ren
Visiting Instructor, Radiation Oncology - Radiation Physics
BioBijie Ren is a quantitative biologist as well as a pro bono academic advisor for the SATORI Institute for Complexity and Emergence (SICE). Inspired by electrical engineering and synthetic biology courses at MIT, he developed a profound interest in integrating digital logic into synthetic biotechnology. He earned his Ph.D. in Quantitative Biology from UC San Diego and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Carnegie Institution for Science at Stanford University. His expertise lies at the intersection of AI and synthetic biology, built a high throughput cellOS to quickly Decode-Design-Recode novel species, with a specific focus on engineering microalgae to foster a better ocean ecosystem, discovery of anti-aging chemicals/peptides with new technology and real-world ground-truth data generation for virtual cell training and AlphaFold improvement. The whole pipeline can quickly help scientists to discover novel protein targets involved in aging process, design new chemical/peptide to target on these proteins and validate their effect in the wet lab to see if these molecules can extend single cell life span. The ingredients can be used for cosmetic, cosemtic injection, healthcare food and pharmacy sequentially. And with powerful cell factory and new synbio technology, he can reduce the R&D and manufacture cost by log scale.
In his advisory role at SICE, he also collaborated with distinguished faculties from top universities to initiate local "Labrary", aiming to empower young students to succeed in both academia and industry. -
Chenchen Ren
Affiliate, Central Mgmt-Misc AR
BioChenchen Ren is a postdoctoral research fellow working with Dr. Lorenzo Rosa at the Carnegie Institution for Science at Stanford. Her research focuses on sustainable agricultural strategies to ensure food security while reducing environmental impacts. She examines agriculture from multiple perspectives, including climate change, crop diversity, farm size, and population aging. Chenchen earned her Ph.D. in Land Resource Management from Zhejiang University, where her dissertation explored the role of farm size in agricultural sustainability, particularly in the context of an aging population. Her postdoctoral research focuses on climate adaptation in agriculture, specifically the interactions between water and nitrogen management. Through her work, she aims to develop innovative adaptation strategies and climate resilience solutions to support global food security, especially in regions vulnerable to climate change.
