Luciana Giambarberi, MD

BioDr. Giambarberi is a double-board-certified physician who completed her general psychiatry training at Wake Forest University School of Medicine (2018) and her Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry (BNNP) training at Stanford University School of Medicine (2019). Her past experience includes leading, creating, expanding, and providing neuropsychiatry education and services to communities of North Carolina and other areas of the southeast region.
As a clinical associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Stanford, Dr. Giambarberi supervises trainees in the Neuropsychiatry Section and the Individual Psychotherapy Clinic. Dr. Giambarberi is the director of BNNP didactics, as well as neurology core rotations and elective rotations within the neuropsychiatry section.

Christine E. Gould
Clinical Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioDr. Gould received her Ph.D in psychology from West Virginia University. She completed her internship at VA Palo Alto Health Care System and an Advanced Fellowship in Geriatrics at the GRECC. Dr. Gould is board certified in geropsychology. Her research program focuses on increasing older adults' access to mental health care. Her research has included development and testing of tailored, self-directed mental health interventions in older adults, including a video-delivered progressive muscle relaxation program with telephone coaching support in reducing anxiety and improving functioning and a digital mental health intervention for depression. She also works to help older adults learn how to use technology through qualitative research, development of educational materials, and coaching interventions. Her most recent work examines telehealth models of geriatric mental health care in older Veterans. Dr. Gould has an active interest in training future geriatric mental health clinicians and researchers. She provides mentorship in the following areas: geriatric mental health interventions, technology-delivered interventions for older adults, telehealth models of care, program evaluation/quality improvement, and mixed methods research approaches.

Ilang M. Guiroy, MD

BioDr. Ilang M. Guiroy is a board-certified, fellowship-trained physician scientist and psychiatrist at Stanford Health Care and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Guiroy is director of the Guiroy Lab at Stanford. Her research explores maternal-infant mental health and digital mental health, including the use of social media, digital communities, and AI for mental health. She developed a groundbreaking telehealth platform to deliver psychotherapy via group chat to digital communities.
Dr. Guiroy treats mental health conditions in patients throughout the lifespan, from conception to elder age. She has a special interest in infant, child, and maternal mental health and provides medication management during pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding. Dr. Guiroy provides expert support to patients coping with birth trauma, transitioning to motherhood, and fostering infant attachment and maternal bonding. Dr. Guiroy is skilled in over twelve therapy modalities including maternal-infant dyadic therapy, interpersonal therapy (IPT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
Dr. Guiroy has published her research in peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Technology in Behavioral Science and Telemedicine and e-Health. She has also presented to her peers at national conferences for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) and the Society for Digital Mental Health (SDMH).

Nancy A. Haug

BioNancy A. Haug, PhD is Adjunct Clinical Professor and Addiction Medicine fellowship program faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. She currently leads didactics and a journal club for Addiction Medicine fellows, and teaches a postdoctoral seminar on ethics and legal issues for the Clinical Psychology Fellowship Program. Dr. Haug's primary academic affiliation is Professor of Psychology at Palo Alto University, where she teaches, advises and supervises doctoral students in the PAU-Stanford PsyD Consortium. Dr. Haug previously served as faculty and attending psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California San Francisco, and taught in the University of California, Berkeley Alcohol & Drug Studies program. She obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology and Behavioral Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology at Loyola University, Maryland. She completed a clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at University of California, San Francisco and San Francisco General Hospital in public service and minority mental health.
Dr. Haug chairs the American Psychological Association (APA) Ethics Committee and formerly served on the California Psychological Association Ethics Committee. She is a Fellow, Member-at-Large for Practice, and President- Elect of the Society of Addiction Psychology (Division 50). Dr. Haug is on the editorial board of the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs and the Journal of Addictive Diseases. She was funded by SAMHSA for a practitioner-education initiative to expand training for evidence-based addiction treatment. Dr. Haug leads the Harm Reduction and Addiction Treatment Laboratory at PAU with current research studies on the implementation of evidence-based practices in addiction treatment, harm reduction for substance use, cannabis vaping and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.
Dr. Haug has been licensed as a psychologist in California since 2004, is board certified in addiction psychology by American Board of Professional Psychology, and has an independent practice in Los Gatos, CA. She has clinical expertise in treating substance misuse and eating disorders using motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. John P. Hegarty II

BioI am a neuroscientist and Principal Investigator of the Stanford Clinical Neuroscience (CNS) Lab in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences as well as Director of Neuroimaging for the Autism and Developmental Disorders Research Program at Stanford. My innovative research studies clinical aspects of cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, with a special focus on examining the neural circuitry associated with important brain-behavior relationships that may underlie different psychological and psychiatric domains in autistic children, adolescents, and adults. The ultimate goal of this research is to improve our understanding of the development of different cognitive and behavioral skills in order to develop mechanistically driven interventions that will improve precision medicine for mental health. Biologically based diagnosis and treatment are extremely limited for most psychological and psychiatric conditions but also critically needed to increase early identification and improve treatment outcomes, especially for neurodevelopmental disorders in which early intervention is the most beneficial. My early career research has primarily focused on clinical neuroscience using neuroimaging (e.g., MRI & EEG) to examine the effects of different drugs and behavioral interventions on the brain, especially for developing biomarkers for improving treatment planning and monitoring biological changes in response to single dose and clinical trials.
My primary contributions to science thus far fall within these major categories: 1) identifying the neural correlates of individual differences in cognition and behavior, 2) developing new interventions and investigating the neurobiological substrates of response to treatment, 3) examining different factors that contribute to brain development, 4) summarizing and increasing accessibility to autism-related research, and 5) methods development for neuroimaging studies. My earliest research investigated the neurobiology of alexithymia, dyslexia, and stress using structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging to test theories of the mechanisms that contribute to differences in cognition and behavior. My subsequent dissertation research, in which I began to focus on neurodevelopmental disorders, examined the neural correlates of response to beta-blockers in autistic adults and also assessed the contribution of cerebellar circuits to the autism phenotype. During my postdoctoral training, I have developed further skills for working with children in multiple clinical research settings, especially for using advanced neuroimaging approaches to examine important brain-behavior relationships. This includes a recent K99/R00 from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NCT04278898 & NCT05664789) that will assess the neurobiology of restricted and repetitive behaviors in autistic children and examine the efficacy and target engagement of a novel nutritional supplement and investigational drug, N-acetylcysteine (NAC), in the brain. BioDr. Samantha Hemingway is a licensed, fellowship-trained clinical psychologist and clinical assistant professor in the Anxiety and Depression Adult Psychological Treatment (ADAPT) Clinic, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine.
Dr. Hemingway specializes in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders, as well as anxiety and mood disorders. She has experience providing treatment in various levels of care settings, ranging from outpatient and intensive outpatient to partial hospitalization. Her work emphasizes evidence-based, high-quality, and personalized mental health care.
Dr Hemingway has published her research in several peer-reviewed journals, including International Journal of Psychological Research and Reviews and Journal of American College Health. Kimberly Hill

BioDr. Hill received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Ohio University. She completed her doctoral internship at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System and postdoctoral fellowship in the Psychiatry Department at the Stanford University School of Medicine where she currently serves as a Clinical Professor. Dr. Hill has published articles and made presentations related to psychology training, pain management, serious mental illness including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and sexual dysfunction.
Dr. Hill's time is divided across clinical, research, administrative, and teaching domains. Her current clinical interests are varied including anxiety, mood disorders, relationship difficulties, and post-traumatic stress disorder. The bulk of her time is committed to psychology training as the Director of Clinical Training for the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium. On a national level, she currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). -

BioDr. Melanie Hom is a Clinical Associate Professor and attending psychologist in the Anxiety and Depression Adult Psychological Treatment (ADAPT) Clinic, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Clinic, and Stanford Mental Health for Asians Research and Treatment (SMHART) Clinic. She utilizes evidence-based therapies, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and DBT. Dr. Hom also strives to provide culturally informed psychotherapy in her work with individuals, couples, and families. Valerie Hoover

BioValerie Hoover, PhD is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in California who specializes in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders, stress management and recovery, trauma and PTSD, interpersonal issues, and psychological adjustment following medical events. Dr. Hoover is also an expert in motivational enhancement and is a MINT-Certified Motivational Interviewing trainer.

Agnieszka Kalinowski
Clinical Assistant Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioI am a translational physician-scientist committed to understanding the pathophysiology of schizophrenia to identify disease-modifying therapeutic interventions. I examined the role of C4 protein activation in clinical samples from individuals with schizophrenia compared to controls, its relationship to C4 CNV and effect on blood brain barrier permeability using in vitro model systems. I contributed to identifying LINE-1 insertions in postmortem brain samples of individuals with schizophrenia and C4 copy number variation (CNV) in pediatric patients with neuropsychiatric symptoms. Since accumulating evidence points to the synapses as the locus of pathology in schizophrenia, I am focusing my current research effort to defining the underlying abnormality in synapses in schizophrenia using a combination of in vitro iPS based model systems and postmortem brain samples, and applying cutting-edge techniques like spatial transcriptomics and array tomography.

Danielle Kamis, MD

BioDr. Kamis completed her residency at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine. She has been published in multiple scientific journals working on studies of schizophrenia and sports psychiatry. Dr. Kamis co-edited the first book of its kind on a Manual of Sports Psychiatry after excelling in the sport of fencing at the University of Pennsylvania where she was a four-time NCAA championship qualifier, All American, Academic-All Ivy honoree, as well as captain of Penn’s fencing team. In addition, she has worked extensively with Dr. David Burns and his team in his extremely effective Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model and has worked with many noted Stanford Sleep Medicine physicians including Dr. Emmanual Mignot focusing on optimization of sleep. She has also concentrated her focus on women’s wellness as well as studied the practice of medical hypnosis. Dr. Kamis is fluent in Spanish and continues her passion of academic research in psychiatric investigations of Argentina as well as taught mindfulness and meditation courses in other countries.

BioI attended Stanford University as an undergraduate, then returned to Stanford for my Psychiatry residency and Chief Residency. I then joined the Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. I am an adjunct Clinical Associate Professor. I teach and supervise the residents in the program.
I am also on the Faculty of the Stanford Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship Program, where I teach and supervise post-graduate Fellows.
I have served an Examiner for the Medical Board of California and do Forensic Psychiatry/Expert Witness work for attorneys as part of my private practice for the past 15 years.
I have been in private practice for 35 years, including 15 years of virtual care. I am licensed in 10 states and can provide telepsychiatry services in all of those states.
Among my specialties are trauma; abuse; PTSD; women's health care-related issues, including pregnacy and post-partum issues, PMS, menopause and hormonal issues across the life span.

BioDr. Krishna Kary (they/them) is a licensed psychologist who specializes in working with adolescents, adults, and couples within the LGBTQ+ community to address concerns related to depression, anxiety, sexuality, identity and interpersonal challenges. Dr. Kary received their PhD in Counseling Psychology from the Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology program at the University of California, Santa Barbara. They received their MA and BS from Santa Clara University in Counseling and Psychology, respectively. Their clinical internship was completed at the University of California, Los Angeles Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and their postdoctoral Gender and Sexual Identities fellowship at Stanford University CAPS. Dr. Kary serves patients through the THRIVE clinic at the Stanford School of Medicine and is emotion-focused, collaborative, and culturally-sensitive in their approach to psychotherapy. In addition to their interest in clinical care, they also enjoy supervision and training, teaching, and consultation related to gender inclusivity practices.

Kevin Kelley

BioAs a neuroscientist and psychiatrist, I am motivated by how little we understand about the pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders and hope that further knowledge will help to alleviate the ongoing distress of many of our patients. My research program leverages computational genomics, human brain cellular models, and molecular neuroscience techniques to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of human brain development and how dysfunction in these processes lead to psychiatric disorders.

Bora Kim, MD, MAS

BioDr. Bora Kim is a board-certified psychiatrist and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. With a strong background in neuromodulation, clinical research, and psychiatric epidemiology, Dr. Kim specializes in the treatment of mood disorders, suicidality.
Dr. Kim completed her psychiatry residencies in both South Korea and the United States, providing her with a unique cross-cultural perspective on mental health care in both English and Korean. She holds a Master of Advanced Study (MAS) in Clinical Research from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where she gained expertise in advanced epidemiologic and biostatistical methods. Her clinical expertise includes transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and other neuromodulation techniques for treatment-resistant depression and suicidality.
Dr. Kim’s research focuses on precision psychiatry, with a particular emphasis on the use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to reduce suicidal ideation. As a faculty member at Stanford, she collaborates with the Brain Stimulation Lab to investigate novel applications of accelerated intermittent theta burst stimulation (aiTBS) in mood disorders and suicidality. -

Ian H. Kratter, MD, PhD

BioDr. Kratter is an adult psychiatrist and fellowship-trained neuropsychiatrist and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is also Director of Non-invasive Neuromodulation in the Stanford Brain Stimulation Laboratory.
His clinical interests include the psychiatric and cognitive aspects of movement disorders like Parkinson's and Tourette's as well as depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and non-invasive and invasive neuromodulation for neuropsychiatric illness.
His research interests focus on assessing outcomes and understanding the mechanisms of both neuromodulatory and novel pharmacological treatments. This includes both clinical and more mechanistic studies, such as using techniques like repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and deep brain stimulation in combination with neuroimaging and electrophysiology. He has been a co-investigator for such studies focusing on obsessive-compulsive disorder, major depressive disorder, and suicidal ideation, and traumatic brain injury.
His work has appeared in a number of scientific journals including Nature Medicine, American Journal of Psychiatry, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Translational Psychiatry, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. He also co-authored the chapter on major depression in the textbook Deep Brain Stimulation: Techniques and Practice. -

Melanie Lean

BioMelanie Lean, Clin.Psych.D. is a Californian licensed clinical psychologist, Clinical Assistant Professor, and assistant director of research in the INSPIRE early psychosis clinic, Stanford University School of Medicine. She provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for psychosis (CBTp) within the recovery oriented and trauma informed framework of the INSPIRE clinic. Dr Lean received her doctorate from University College London, UK and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University. She is a mixed methods researcher, with over 15 years’ experience in mental health research, working across a range of settings with a focus on severe and enduring mental illness and ways to improve service provision for this population. She has specialized knowledge in self-management and peer support interventions for people with psychosis and has experience working alongside service user researchers in the evaluation and delivery of study interventions. Dr Lean is also trained in psychedelic assisted therapy and works on a range of clinical trials investigating psilocybin for treatment resistant depression.

BioDr. Jonathan Y. Lee, MD, PhD (@ jonlee112) is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Depression Clinic of Stanford University where he founded the "Am I Good? Examining life through the lenses of Philosophical Skepticism, Moral Philosophy, and Existentialism" philosophical psychotherapy group.
Jonathan's research focuses on the causes and consequences of, as well as solutions to, rising skepticism and distrust in sources of expert information (e.g., science, health). He has a special interest in exploring skepticism and persuasion at the intersection of health and politics, which includes studying phenomena such as the politicization of science and health, political polarization, filter bubbles/echo chambers, the emerging post-truth world, and information warfare. It also includes seeking heteorgeneity in the findings across particular demographics at high socioeconomic and health risk. He draws on theories and methods from his uniquely interdisciplinary set of educational, research, and professional experiences, including those from experimental and behavioral economics, political science, psychology, philosophy, and machine learning. He is currently using machine learning-based text analytics to explore how trust/distrust in sources of expert information is discussed on traditional and social media -- followed by the use of online randomized controlled survey experiments to test the causal effects of particular persuasion strategies on perceptions of trust/distrust, as well as other important behavioral outcomes of interest.
Jonathan uses a clinical approach that consists of the use of both psychopharmacological and individual/group psychotherapeutic interventions to address depression, anxiety, and other mental health problems. Referred to by some as philosophical psychiatry, philosophical therapy, philosophical counseling, or philosophical psychology, Jonathan's approach to psychotherapy begins with the building of one's worldview / lens from a first principles perspective by asking the fundamental questions posed by philosophers and scientists spanning philosophical / intellectual traditions across time, including:

philosophical skepticism, absurdism, pessimism, nihilism
logical empiricism / logical positivism

Anna Lembke, MD

BioDr. Anna Lembke received her undergraduate degree in Humanities from Yale University and her medical degree from Stanford University. She is currently Professor and Medical Director of Addiction Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine. She is also Program Director of the Stanford Addiction Medicine Fellowship, Chief of the Stanford Addiction Medicine Dual Diagnosis Clinic, and a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
In 2016, she published "Drug Dealer, MD – How Doctors Were Duped, Patients Got Hooked, and Why It’s So Hard to Stop" (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2016), highlighted in the New York Times as one of the top five books to read to understand the opioid epidemic (Zuger, 2018).
Dr. Lembke appeared in the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma, an unvarnished look at the impact of social media on our lives.
Her latest book, "Dopamine Nation: Finding Balance in the Age of Indulgence" (Dutton/Penguin Random House, August 2021) was an instant New York Times and Los Angeles Times bestseller and has been translated into 30 languages. Jill T. Levitt
Adjunct Clinical Instructor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
BioDr. Jill Levitt is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the Director of Training at the Feeling Good Institute in Mountain View, CA. She has more than 25 years of experience conducting Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and has been trained by some of the world’s leaders in CBT. Dr. Levitt graduated Summa Cum Laude with honors in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University where she was mentored by Dr. David Barlow. She has co-written several scholarly articles in the areas of OCD, PTSD and Panic Disorder. Most recently she has been co-teaching CBT with Dr. David Burns at the Stanford University School of Medicine in her role on the Adjunct Clinical Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Levitt teaches both in-person and online workshops for the Feeling Good Institute on CBT methods, reducing resistance in psychotherapy, and improving the effectiveness of psychotherapy. She is passionate about helping people overcome depression and anxiety efficiently using CBT.

BioDr. Stacy Lin is a licensed psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences who provides culturally-informed psychotherapy for the treatment of emotion dysregulation, eating disorders, and trauma. Dr. Lin has specialized training in comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is broadly interested in issues of diversity and inclusion in clinical, training, and professional settings. Her research has examined cultural factors affecting disordered eating and body image in racial/ethnic minorities.

Anne Juliana Lockman

BioDr. Lockman is Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor of Neuropsychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford. She directs the Functional Neurologic Disorder (FND) Track at La Selva in Palo Alto, within their state-of-the-art residential and partial hospitalization programs. She completed residencies in both Neurology at the University of Virginia and Psychiatry at Stanford Hospital & Clinics. Her clinical activities include providing pharmacologic and behavioral care for clients with psychiatric and behavioral conditions in the context of neurological illness, including epilepsy, stroke, movement disorders and others. Professional goals include the advancement of clinical care, research and access for clients suffering from neuropsychiatric conditions, including FND and related disorders.

BioDr. Luce is a Psychologist and Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University School of Medicine. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Kent State University. Maryam S. Makowski, PhD

BioMaryam S. Makowski, PhD, FACN, CNS, NBC-HWC, is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Stanford University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Associate Director of Scholarship and Health Promotion for Stanford Medicine’s WellMD & WellPhD. As a medical nutrition scientist, Certified Nutrition Specialist, and National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, Dr. Makowski provides nutrition consultations and well-being coaching to Stanford School of Medicine faculty, as well as Stanford Medicine residents and fellows through the WellConnect Program. She also serves patients of the Lifestyle Psychiatry Clinic and provides group nutrition coaching and education to Geriatric Psychiatry patients within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr.Makowski is a member of the Well-Being Advisory Committee in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Dr. Makowski's research focuses on identifying nutritional strategies to minimize physician fatigue, stress, and sleep-related impairment. In her coaching, she employs evidence-based strategies to optimize the well-being and performance of her clients. She has delivered over 100 lectures, grand rounds, seminars, and webinars to thousands of physicians and physician trainees worldwide.
In her coaching, Dr. Makowski incorporates a Whole Person Health approach by addressing the interconnected dimensions of physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being, empowering clients to achieve a balanced and fulfilling life through personalized strategies and holistic support. In recognition of her contributions, she received the 2024 Annual Chairman's Award for Clinical Innovation and Service in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine.
She earned her master's and doctoral degrees in clinical nutrition, nutritional epidemiology, and medical science from the University of Toronto. Prior to joining Stanford, Dr. Makowski worked as a scientific associate at Toronto General Hospital-University Health Network and served as an advisor to Air Canada rouge pilots and cabin crew on fatigue management. Throughout her career, she has authored highly cited scientific papers related to nutrition and well-being, making significant contributions to the field. -

Brittany Elizabeth Matheson, PhD

BioBrittany Matheson, PhD, is a clinical assistant professor and licensed clinical psychologist in the Eating Disorders Clinic. She completed her undergraduate degree at Duke University, doctorate from the Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego, and APA clinical internship at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford (LPCH)/Children’s Health Council. Dr. Matheson is a certified family-based treatment (FBT) therapist and consultant. She is also the director of the Stanford Eating Disorder Research Program Data Coordination Center and collaborates with colleagues on NIH-funded randomized clinical trials. Dr. Matheson's research interests include examining the psychosocial, neurocognitive, and familial factors related to disordered eating and excess weight gain in youth. She is interested in the development and implementation of evidence-based treatments for youth with disordered eating as well as better understanding factors that influence pediatric bariatric surgery outcomes. Dr. Matheson has specialized research and clinical expertise in the interplay among obesity, disordered eating, and autism spectrum disorder and is the director of psychological services for the LPCH adolescent metabolic and bariatric surgery program. She conducts comprehensive evaluations and provides evidence-based treatments for individuals across the age-spectrum with eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, and other specified feeding and eating disorders. Her recent research focuses on reducing access to care barriers by digitizing evidence-based treatments and utilizing technology to enhance treatment outcomes.

Douglas Noordsy

BioDouglas L. Noordsy, MD, is Clinical Professor, Director of Lifestyle Psychiatry and co-founder of the Sports Psychology & Psychiatry clinic in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Noordsy was previously Professor of Psychiatry at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. His research interests include effects of physical exercise on neurotrophic factors, brain volume and function and mental health and wellbeing. He is particularly interested in the role of physical exercise for prevention of progression of early psychosis and interactions between social and physical aspects of team sports. Dr. Noordsy is a member of the American College of Psychiatry, American College of Lifestyle Medicine and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He is a member of the editorial boards for Community Mental Health Journal and Mental Health & Physical Activity. Dr. Noordsy was recognized with the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness in 2001, and the Excellence in Leadership Award from the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Stanford in 2018.
