Ariadne Nichol

Resident in MedicineBioAriadne Nichol is a researcher at the Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics. She earned her bachelors degree in Human Biology from Stanford University, where she graduated with Honors in Ethics in Society and was a Public Service Scholar. She has previously worked on global public health research ethics topics at Doctors Without Borders and at the World Health Organization (WHO). Her work has been published in the American Journal of Bioethics and PLOS One. Her areas of interest include ethical issues of biomedical research in vulnerable populations; ethical challenges associated with emerging infectious diseases; as well as ethical and social issues raised by application of big data and machine learning in health care and pharmacogenetics.

Perry Nielsen Jr

BioPerry Nielsen Jr is a Master’s Student in Health Policy at Stanford University. Originally from Colorado, Perry got his Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) graduating Cum Laude and as a Truman Finalist. During his time in university, he volunteered in the pediatric immunocompromised unit at Shands Hospital and planned service events with local Gainesville nonprofits like Climb for Cancer and Footprints: Buddy and Support Program. He did quality assurance research in the Congenital Heart Center which led him to win 3rd place for original research at a regional Southeast research conference. He also interned at the Colorado Medical Society, where he helped draft a statewide physician counseling program for clinicians facing distress.
Perry is passionate about common sense healthcare reform and the accessible translation of medical research to clinical practice. In his free time, he enjoys meeting local coffee roasters and exploring the vintage fashion scene. Most of all, he’s excited to wander the west coast of the United States and appreciate all the natural beauty of the Bay Area. -

I enjoy partnering with our researchers and clinicians to help them apply information technology to solve meaningful problems. I also manage a team of software developers working on tracking health status and outcomes, mobile health, and cloud computing infrastructure.

Shyon Parsa

Resident in MedicineBioShyon earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas - Austin, graduating with Honors. He completed coursework in Thermodynamics and Transport Phenomena in Living Systems at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at Cambridge University under Clare Hall fellow Dr. Kenneth Diller. After graduation, Shyon enrolled in medical school at UT Southwestern, and graduated with an M.D with Distinction in Research and as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society.
He started his internal medicine residency at Stanford University Hospital in 2023. In 2024, he was awarded a Stanford Cardiovascular Institute Seed Grant for his project "An Artificial Intelligence Approach Utilizing Radiomic-Derived Calcium Features on Calcium Scoring CT (CAC-CT) in Cardiovascular Risk Stratification" (Co-PI). In 2025, he was selected for a Young Investigator Award from the National Lipid Association and named as an American Heart Association Early Career Investigator Award for Preventive Cardiovascular Medicine Research finalist. He is currently leading the NOTIFY-ASCVD trial alongside Co-PIs Fatima Rodriguez and Fahim Abbasi.
His interests include the use of AI in opportunistic coronary artery disease assessment, clinical integration of AI-based diagnostic algorithms through clinical trials, and preventive health advocacy through public policy. He plans to pursue a career in cardiology with a focus on advanced computational imaging techniques, medical device development, and advocacy both in his local communities and abroad.
