Karli Moore

Other Tech - Graduate, Dean for Community Engagement and DiversityBioKarli Moore, a member of the Lumbee Tribe, is from Prospect, North Carolina, and is pursuing a PhD in environment and resources at Stanford School of Earth, Energy, and Environmental Sciences. She earned bachelor's degrees in chemistry and agricultural business management from NC State University, master's degrees in agricultural economics (University of Arkansas) and rural development (Ghent University), and a graduate certificate in food policy from Arizona State University. Karli aspires to advance food sovereignty and economic development for indigenous communities through climate-smart agriculture that centers traditional ecological knowledge. She was a biodiversity coordinator at BASF, an economic fellow at the Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative, and a program officer at the Native American Agriculture Fund. Her work has helped guide the investment of more than $40 million for Native food systems over the past two years. She is a Udall Scholar, Park Scholar, and Mathews Medal recipient.

Tim Morrison

Robert Moss
Ph.D. Student in Computer Science, admitted Autumn 2021
BioRobert Moss is a computer science Ph.D. student at Stanford University studying algorithms to validate safety-critical autonomous systems. He holds an M.S. in computer science from Stanford where his research received the best computer science master’s thesis award and he also received the Centennial TA award for his teaching efforts. He earned his B.S. in computer science with a minor in physics from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. Robert was an associate research staff member at MIT Lincoln Laboratory where he was on the team that designed, developed, and validated the next-generation aircraft collision avoidance system for commercial aircraft, unmanned vehicles, and rotorcraft. Robert was also a research engineer at the NASA Ames Research Center, developing decision support tools for the VIPER autonomous Lunar rover mission searching for water deposits on the Moon. Robert is a member of the Stanford Intelligent Systems Laboratory, the Stanford Center for Earth Resources Forecasting, and part of the Stanford Center for AI Safety conducting research on methods for high-dimensional planning under uncertainty using low-dimensional surrogate models, autonomous vehicle risk assessment, and efficient algorithms for safety validation.

Amar Mukunda

BioAmar Mukunda is a current Masters student pursuing a degree in Energy and Infrastructure Engineering. Amar's overall focus is developing strategies to meet America's 21st century energy and infrastructure needs while alleviating poverty and creating intergenerational wealth in the country's most deindustrialized places. Amar previously served as Assistant Director of Roca Baltimore, one of the city's premier work force development and gun violence prevention programs and is also a Bloomberg fellow at Johns Hopkins University working on understanding gun violence and addiction in Baltimore City from a public health perspective. From 2015-2016 he was a Fulbright Scholar researching artificial intelligence and machine learning in the field of natural language processing at Ecole Polytechnique in Lausanne, Switzerland. He graduated from Amherst College Magna Cum Laude in 2015 with majors in Computer Science and Geology.

Gabriella Muwanga

BioGabriella Muwanga is a Neurosciences graduate student in the Tawfik and Airan labs at Stanford. She is interested in understanding acute and chronic pain mechanisms and developing therapies for acute and chronic pain through basic and translational research. Gabriella holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. She is passionate about teaching, mentorship, science communication, and fostering diversity in science. Outside the lab, she enjoys writing, singing, drawing, Bible Study, and fellowship.
