    BioI completed my training at Stanford University with an Anesthesiology residency in 2003 and Obstetrical Anesthesia fellowship in 2004. I worked in a general private practice for two years at a community hospital in Colorado and was involved in creating protocols for OB related concerns such as non-obstetric surgery during pregnancy and skin to skin contact in the OR during cesarean delivery. I then returned to academic practice and worked for eight years at the University of Colorado and the Colorado Institute for Maternal and Fetal Health. I have collaborated extensively with the Stanford Anesthesia Informatics and Media Lab to create innovative educational tools. These include a major anesthesiology textbook, the Manual of Clinical Anesthesiology, and a comprehensive online learning program for anesthesiology residents called Learnly. I've been the OB anesthesia fellowship director at both the University of Colorado and Stanford University. I truly love guiding fellows from interested residents to consultants in OB anesthesia. My research interests include medical education and topics related to the Obstetrical Anesthesiology workforce.

    BioI’m a Welsh medievalist with specializations in manuscript studies, archives, information technologies, and early British literature. I teach core courses in British Literary History, on Text Technologies, and Palaeography and Archival Studies. I supervise honors students and graduate students working in early literature, Book History, and Digital Humanities and I am committed to providing a supportive and ethical environment in all my work. My current projects focus on death and trauma, on manuscripts and on the history of writing systems. I’m currently completing new research on Neil Ripley Ker, his Catalogue of Manuscripts containing Anglo-Saxon, and his methods as a manuscript scholar. I recently published Disrupting Categories, 1050 to 1250: Rethinking the Humanities through Premodern Texts (ARC Humanities Press, 2024); Perceptions of Medieval Manuscripts: The Phenomenal Book with OUP in 2021; A Very Short Introduction to Medieval Literature (OUP, 2015); Living Through Conquest: The Politics of Early English (OUP, 2012). Also recently published is the two part issue 13 (2024) of Digital Philology on “Fragmentology” (with Ben Albritton and Shiva Mihan); and the Cambridge Companion to British Medieval Manuscripts, co-edited with Dr Orietta Da Rold for CambridgeUP in 2020.

    I am the Director of Stanford Text Technologies (https://texttechnologies.stanford.edu), and, with Claude Willan, published Text Technologies: A History in 2019 (StanfordUP). Other projects include “Digital Ker”—an online digitization and updating of Neil R. Ker’s 1957 Catalogue of Manuscripts containing Anglo-Saxon, together with newly published archival materials of Ker’s. I am also PI of CyberText Technologies (https://digitalker.stanford.edu); on a project investigating the complex subject of personal archives—SOPES; and Medieval Networks of Memory with Mateusz Fafinski, which analyzes two thirteenth-century mortuary rolls. Text Technologies' initiatives include a regular Collegium: the first, on “Distortion” was published as Textual Distortion in 2017; the fourth was published by Routledge as Medieval Manuscripts in the Digital Age in 2020. I am the Principal Investigator of the NEH-Funded 'Stanford Global Currents' (https://globalcurrents.stanford.edu/) and Co-PI of the AHRC-funded research project and ebook, The Production and Use of English Manuscripts, 1060 to 1220 (Leicester, 2010; version 2.0 https://em1060.stanford.edu/). With Benjamin Albritton, I run Stanford Manuscript Studies; and with Thomas Mullaney and Kathryn Starkey, I co-direct SILICON (https://silicon.stanford.edu/).

    In 2024-2025, I’m delighted to be a Stanford Impact Labs Design Fellow, developing archival tools and guidelines. I’m also the President of the Teachers of Old English in Britain and Ireland (TOEBI). I have been an American Philosophical Society Franklin Fellow, a Princeton Procter Fellow, and a Fellow of the Stanford Clayman Institute for Gender Studies. I'm a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries; a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society; an Honorary Lifetime Fellow of the English Association (and former Chair and President); and a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales.

    BioJennifer Trimble works on the visual and material culture of the Roman Empire, with interests in portraits and replication, the visual culture of Roman slavery, comparative urbanism, and ancient mapping. Her book on Women and Visual Replication in Roman Imperial Art and Culture (Cambridge University Press, 2011) explores the role of visual sameness in constructing public identity and articulating empire and place. Trimble was co-director of the IRC-Oxford-Stanford excavations in the Roman Forum (now being prepared for publication), focused on the interactions of commercial, religious and monumental space. She also co-directed Stanford's Digital Forma Urbis Romae Project, a collaboration between computer scientists and archaeologists to help reassemble a fragmentary ancient map of the city of Rome.

    BioHarold Trinkunas is the Deputy Director of and a Senior Research Scholar at the Center for International Security and Cooperation at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University. Prior to arriving at Stanford, Dr. Trinkunas served as the Charles W. Robinson Chair and senior fellow and director of the Latin America Initiative in the Foreign Policy program at the Brookings Institution. His research focuses on issues related to foreign policy, governance, and security, particularly in Latin America. Trinkunas has written on emerging powers and the international order, ungoverned spaces, terrorism financing, borders, and armed non-state actors.

    Trinkunas co-authored Militants, Criminals and Warlords: The Challenge of Local Governance in an Age of Disorder (Brookings Institution Press, 2017), Aspirational Power: Brazil’s Long Road to Global Influence (Brookings Institution Press, 2016) and authored Crafting Civilian Control of the Military in Venezuela (University of North Carolina Press, 2005). He co-edited and contributed to Three Tweets to Midnight: The Effects of the Global Information Ecosystem on the Risk of Nuclear Conflict (Hoover Institution Press, 2020); American Crossings: Border Politics in the Western Hemisphere (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2015), Ungoverned Spaces: Alternatives to State Authority in an Era of Softened Sovereignty (Stanford University Press, 2010), Global Politics of Defense Reform (Palgrave MacMillan, 2008), and Terrorism Financing and State Responses (Stanford University Press, 2007).

    Dr. Trinkunas has also previously served as an associate professor and chair of the Department of National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He received his doctorate in political science from Stanford University in 1999. He was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela.

    BioDr. Brian Trippe is an assistant professor at Stanford in the Department of Statistics, with an affiliation in Stanford Data Science.

    In his research, Dr. Trippe develops probabilistic machine learning methods to address challenges in biotechnology and medicine. Recently, his focus has been on generative modeling and inference algorithms for protein engineering.

    Before joining Stanford, Dr. Trippe was a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University in the Department of Statistics, and a visiting researcher at the Institute for Protein Design at the University of Washington.

    Assistant Professor of Computer Science and of Electrical Engineering

    BioCaroline Trippel is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Departments at Stanford University, where she leads the High Assurance Computer Architectures Lab. Following her PhD, prior to starting at Stanford, Trippel spent nine months as a Research Scientist at Facebook in the FAIR SysML group. Trippel's research fits broadly in the area of computer architecture and focuses on promoting high assurance—correctness, security, and reliability—as a first-order computer architecture design goal. A central theme of her work is leveraging formal methods, especially automated reasoning, techniques to design and verify hardware systems. Trippel research has influenced the design of the RISC-V ISA memory consistency model both via her formal analysis of its draft specification and her subsequent participation in the RISC-V Memory Model Task Group; prompted Intel to update their Software Security Guidance to confirm that two Intel microarchitectures satisfy assumptions made by the Seberus Spectre defense that her lab developed; and produced a novel methodology and tool that synthesized two new variants of the famous Meltdown and Spectre attacks. Trippel's research has been recognized with IEEE Top Picks distinctions, a Sloan Research Fellowship, an NSF CAREER Award, the inaugural Google ML and Systems Junior Faculty Award, the Intel Rising Star Faculty Award, an Intel Outstanding Researcher Award, the 2020 ACM SIGARCH/IEEE CS TCCA Outstanding Dissertation Award, the 2020 CGS/ProQuest® Distinguished Dissertation Award in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, & Engineering, and more.

  • Mudit Trivedi

    Assistant Professor of Anthropology

    BioMudit Trivedi is an archaeologist with interests in religious subjectivity, materiality, craft and historical anthropology.

    His first book project, An Archaeology of Virtue, considers the archaeology of conversion to Islam through the results of an ongoing long-term archaeological project he has co-directed at the site of Indor in Rajasthan, North India. This research bridges archaeological and anthropological conceptualizations of tradition. It considers the thematizations of ethical relations, hierarchies and gendered pious praxis in material media. It brings together analyses of architectural, spatial and artifactual datasets combined with compositional elemental analyses. The project’s wider goals are to rethink the secular modern commitments of archaeology and the nature of the archaeological trace.

    Mudit is also interested in developing critiques of archaeology’s disciplinary commitments to liberal values and legal infrastructures. A first paper from this project critically re-situates colonial Treasure Trove laws that framed the archaeological common good around the taking of finds from others. This second project reconsiders archaeological praxis and the discipline’s recourse to property law in a series of South Asian contexts ranging from accidental finds to disputes centred on waqfs.

    His forthcoming publications relate to these combined interests. They cover archaeometric insights into social contexts of glass artifact production and use in South Asian and other contexts; the long-term settlement history of the region of Mewat in North India, and theoretical problems in the historical and archaeological study of religion and conversion. He has co-edited a special issue of the Medieval History Journal on ‘Archaeologies of the Medieval in South Asia’.

    BioNick Troccoli is a Lecturer in the Stanford Computer Science Department. He started as a full-time lecturer at Stanford in Fall 2018, after graduating from Stanford in June 2018 with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Computer Science. He has taught CS106X, CS107, CS110 and CS111. In 2022, 2024 and 2025 he was named to the Tau Beta Pi Teaching Honor Roll. During his undergraduate career, he specialized in Systems, and during his graduate career he specialized in Artificial Intelligence. He was heavily involved in teaching as both an undergraduate and graduate student; he was an undergraduate Section Leader in the CS 198 Section Leading Program, a graduate CA (Course Assistant) for CS 181, the Head TA for CS 106A and CS 106B, and the summer 2017 instructor for CS 106A. In 2017 he was awarded the Forsythe Teaching Award and the Centennial TA Award for excellence in teaching.

    BioMickey Trockel is the Director of Evidence Based Innovation for the Stanford University School of Medicine WellMD Center. His development of novel measurement tools has led to growing focus on professional fulfillment as a foundational aim of efforts to promote physician well-being. His scholarship also identifies interpersonal interactions at work as a modifiable core determinate of an organizational culture that cultivates wellness.

    Dr. Trockel serves as the chair of the Physician Wellness Academic Consortium Scientific Board, which is a group of academic medical centers working together to improve physician wellbeing. The consortium sites have adopted the physician wellness assessment system Dr. Trockel and his colleagues have developed, which offers longitudinal data for benchmarking and natural experiment based program evaluation. His previous research included focus on college student health, and evaluation of the efficacy of a national evidence based psychotherapy dissemination effort. His more recent scholarship has focused on physician wellbeing. He is particularly interested in developing and demonstrating the efficacy of interventions designed to promote wellbeing by improving social culture determinants of wellbeing across student groups, employee work teams, or larger organizations.

    BioBorn in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Barry Trost began his university training at the University of Pennsylvania (BA, 1962) and completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1965). He moved directly to the University of Wisconsin, where he was promoted to Professor of Chemistry and subsequently Vilas Research Professor. He joined the faculty at Stanford as Professor of Chemistry in 1987 and became Tamaki Professor of Humanities and Sciences in 1990. In addition to serving multiple visiting professorships, Professor Trost was presented with a Docteur honoris causa of the Université Claude-Bernard (Lyon I), France, and in 1997 a Doctor Scientiarum Honoris Causa of the Technion, Haifa, Israel. In recognition of his innovations and scholarship in the field of organic synthesis, Professor Trost has received the ACS Award in Pure Chemistry, ACS Award for Creative Work in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award, and the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award, among many others. Professor Trost has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, American Chemical Society, and American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and served as Chairman of the NIH Medicinal Chemistry Study Section. He has held over 125 special university lectureships and presented over 270 Plenary Lectures at national and international meetings. He has published two books and over 950 scientific articles. He edited a major compendium entitled Comprehensive Organic Synthesis consisting of nine volumes and serves on the editorial board for Science of Synthesis and Reaxys.

    The Trost Group’s research program revolves around the theme of synthesis, including target molecules with potential applications as novel catalysts, as well as antibiotic and antitumor therapies. The work comprises two major activities: 1) developing the tools, i.e., the reactions and reagents, and 2) creating the proper network of reactions to make complex targets readily available from simple starting materials.

    Efforts to develop "chemists' enzymes" – non-peptidic transition metal based catalysts that can perform chemo-, regio-, diastereo-, and especially enantioselective reactions – focus close attention to the question of atom economy to minimize waste, energy, and consumption of raw materials.

    Synthetic efficiency raises the question of metal catalyzed cycloadditions to rings other than six-membered. A general strategy is evolving for a "Diels-Alder" equivalent for formation of five, seven, nine, etc. membered carbo- and heterocyclic rings.

    An exciting new direction derives from the molecular gymnastics acetylenes undergo in the presence of transition metals. Additional specific goals include cycloisomerization to virtually all types of ring sizes and systems with particularly versatile juxtaposition of functionality.

    Palladium and ruthenium catalysts represent a major part of the lab's efforts, in order to invent new synthetic processes together with new opportunities for selectivity complementary to that obtained using other metal complexes. Main group chemistry, especially involving silicon, zinc, and sulfur, also offers many opportunities for new reaction design. Rational design of novel catalysts for asymmetric additions to carbonyl and imine groups are an exciting thrust.From these new synthetic tools evolve new synthetic strategies towards complex natural products. Targets include β-lactam antibiotics, ionophores, steroids and related compounds (e.g., Vitamin D metabolites), alkaloids, nucleosides, carbohydrates, and macrolide, terpenoid, and tetracyclic antitumor and antibiotic agents.

    BioDr. Boukhman Trounce graduated from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine and went on to complete her emergency medicine residency and fellowship in Disaster Medicine and Bioterrorism Response at Harvard Medical School. She worked with the Center for Integration of Medicine and Technology (CIMT), a consortium of Harvard teaching hospitals and MIT, where she led BioSecurity related projects in conjunction with the US State Department. She also received her MBA from Stanford Business School.

    After Harvard she joined UCSF as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and was Medical Director for Disaster Response. For the past 11 years, she has been at Stanford Medical School, where she is a Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine.

    She directs the BioSecurity program at Stanford, focused on protecting society from pandemics and other threats posed by infectious organisms, with a specific emphasis on approaches to interrupting transmission of infectious organisms in various settings.     At Stanford, over the past ten years she has established and directed a class on BioSecurity and Pandemic Resilience , which examines ways of building global societal resilience to pandemics and other biothreats and has educated over a thousand students. She has also taught an online Harvard course on medical response to biological terrorism, educating thousands of physicians globally.

    She has served as a spokeswoman for the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and is a founding Chair of BioSecurity at ACEP. In addition to her academic research and speaking at national conferences, she also consults nationally and internationally to healthcare systems, governments, and other organizations.

    BioNancy J. Troy is Victoria and Roger Sant Professor in Art and Chair of the Art & Art History Department at Stanford University. In addition to The De Stijl Environment (MIT Press, 1983), she is the author of Modernism and the Decorative Arts in France: Art Nouveau to Le Corbusier (Yale University Press, 1991), Couture Culture: A Study in Modern Art and Fashion(MIT Press, 2003), and, most recently, The Afterlife of Piet Mondrian(University of Chicago Press, 2013). In this book about Mondrian after his death in 1944, Troy examines the trajectories of the artist's work and legacy as they circulated through the realms of elite and popular culture, and she explores the ways in which the dominant historical narrative of Mondrian and his work has been shaped by art-market forces.

    Professor Troy received her PhD from Yale University in 1979, and thereafter taught at The Johns Hopkins University (1979-83), Northwestern University (1983-93), and the University of Southern California (1994-2010). A past president of the National Committee for the History of Art, she was Editor-in-Chief of the flagship art history journal, The Art Bulletin, from 1994 to 1997. She has been awarded many fellowships, most notably from the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies, the Getty Research Institute, the Institute for Advanced Study, and the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts.

    At Stanford, Professor Troy teaches courses on modern European and American art, architecture and design; cubism; modern art and fashion; art, business and the law; the art market, and topics generated by the collections and exhibitions of the Cantor Arts Center and the Art and Architecture Library.

    BioMai Thy Truong, MD, is a Clinical Associate Professor in the department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, division of Pediatric Otolaryngology at Stanford Children’s Hospital. She serves as the Clinic Chief and the Fellowship Director for the division. Dr. Truong oversees a dedicated Microtia and Atresia Clinic to provide care for all the reconstructive and hearing rehabilitative needs of children with microtia and canal atresia. Dr. Truong’s other clinical interests include Vascular Anomalies, Fetal Management of critical airway (EXIT procedure), as well as Congenital head and neck masses and fistulas. Her research has explored the social impact of microtia, 3D modelling in microtia repair, the treatment of complex vascular anomalies and pediatric sleep apnea.
    Dr. Truong received her Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Los Angeles in Neuroscience, graduating with honors. She went on to medical school at the University of California, Irvine. Dr Truong completed her residency training at Stanford University Hospital in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. She did her Fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Stanford Children’s Hospital. She completed post-graduate training in Auricular reconstruction, microtia repair, in Paris, France with the world renown plastic surgeon, Dr. Francoise Firmin. Dr Truong is proficient in Spanish and conversational in Vietnamese languages. Her personal interests include musical theater and Karaoke. She strongly believes in the importance of respect for all the diversity of humankind. She is a Bay Area Native and loves the uniqueness that each niche of the Bay Area has.

    BioDr. Tsai received his undergraduate training at the University of California, Los Angeles (B.S., Biochemistry, summa cum laude), followed by combined medical and graduate training at the University of Southern California (M.D., Ph.D., Biochemistry). He completed anatomic and clinical pathology (AP/CP) residency and hematopathology fellowship at Stanford University, receiving board certification in AP/CP and hematopathology. As an instructor, he performed clinical diagnostic duties on the hematopathology service while doing postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Sean Bendall, with funding from the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation.

    As a physician and hematopathologist, he seeks to mechanistically dissect myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) using highly-multiplexed immunophenotyping — mass cytometry / cytometry by time-of-flight (CyTOF) and multiplexed ion beam imaging (MIBI). MDS is an especially complex and heterogeneous disease of abnormal blood cell development with increasing prevalence and few treatments. By combining practical experience clinically diagnosing MDS, next generation single cell proteomic approaches, fundamental discoveries in the biology of MDS, and knowledge of clinical laboratory testing, we hope to develop new clinical diagnostics for personalizing MDS therapies and therapeutic monitoring.

    His clinical diagnostic duties are on the hematopathology service, primarily in the diagnosis of MDS, leukemias, lymphomas, and other hematopoietic diseases from blood, bone marrow, and tissue samples.

    BioDr. Tsai is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and the Program Director of the Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship. He completed his medical degree and anesthesiology residency at the University of Pennsylvania and a cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship at Stanford. Dr. Tsai has led numerous educational initiatives at the institutional and national levels, and has special interests in the role of augmented reality technology in medical simulation.

    Clinical Assistant Professor, Medicine - Primary Care and Population Health

    BioDr. Cynthia Tsai, MD, FACP, is a board certified internal medicine physician and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Stanford within the Division of Primary Care and Population Health. She is the Medical Director of Stanford Primary Care in Los Altos and is also the Los Altos Clinic Site Director for the Stanford Internal Medicine Residency.

    Within the Division of Primary Care and Population Health, she serves as the Division Lead for Quality and Equity, and she has spearheaded work to improve the equitable care of patients from racial and ethnic minority groups and limited English proficiency patients with chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.

    She completed medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, and she completed residency training in internal medicine and primary care in the UCSF Primary Care/General Internal Medicine (UCPC-GIM) track of the Internal Medicine residency program. A Bay Area native, she is eager to provide primary care for a complex patient panel here in the Bay Area. Her clinical interests include preventative healthcare, the care of older adults, addiction medicine, and behavioral medicine. She grew up in a bicultural and bilingual home and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, and she provides language concordant care to Mandarin speaking patients.

    Dr. Tsai specializes in thoracic surgery, providing all aspects of care from diagnosis through recovery. She has expertise in treating complex thoracic diseases with robotics and minimally invasive techniques, which often increase precision, reduce risk, and improve recovery. She is dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care that combines technical excellence with compassion.

    As a physician-researcher, Dr. Tsai has completed a dedicated, grant-funded research fellowship in thoracic surgery during her general surgery training. Her research portfolio spans basic and translational science and clinical outcomes, as well as clinical trials. Her current research focuses on using artificial intelligence to improve diagnosis, surgical planning, and outcomes in thoracic surgery.

    Dr. Tsai has published in many renowned peer-reviewed journals, including Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Annals of Surgery, and Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.     BioDr. Tsai is a board-certified family medicine physician, clinical informaticist, and trained in osteopathy. He is a clinical assistant professor in the Stanford University School of Medicine Department of Medicine – Primary Care and Population Health. Prior to joining Stanford Health Care, he obtained a Master of Management in clinical informatics from Duke University.

    Dr. Tsai seeks to improve clinician workflows and patient care by applying his knowledge of clinical informatics. His innovations allow providers to quickly access, share, and document information to advance patient care. He has also held many notable leadership, educational, and quality control positions throughout his career.

    Dr. Tsai investigates ways to maximize the time clinicians spend with patients. He expedites and standardizes communication between health care providers and patients through the integration of mobile devices and remote patient monitoring programs. He streamlines the documentation process by updating electronic medical record tools and creating more efficient patient questionnaires to optimize the quality of care.

    He has presented his research orally or in poster format at the American Medical Informatics Association, Family Medicine Education Consortium, and American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. As a medical student, Dr. Tsai developed an open online osteopathic manipulation course, enrolling over 1,200 students. As a clinical fellow at Duke, he co-authored a textbook chapter on the future of health informatics

We are particularly interested in the role of microRNAs in gene expression pathways associated with disease.

    BioProfessor Edison Tse received his BS, MS, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the Director of Asia Center of Management Science and Engineering, which has the charter of developing executive training programs for executives in Asian enterprises, conducting research on development of the emerging economy in Asia and establishing research affiliations with Asian enterprises, with a special focus in Greater China: China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
    In 1973, he received the prestigious Donald Eckman Award from the American Automatic Control Council in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the field of Automatic Control. He had served as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions of Automatic Control, and a co-editor of the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, which he co-founded.
    Professor Tse has done research in system and control engineering, economic dynamics and control, computer integrated systems to support fishery management policy decisions, management and control of manufacturing enterprise, and industrial competitive analysis and product development. Tse developed a framework for analyzing dynamic competitive strategy that would shape the formation of an ecosystem supporting a value proposition. Within such a framework, he developed dynamic strategies for firms entering an emerging market, latecomers entering a matured market, and firms managing transformation. Using this framework, he developed a new theory on the business transformation of a company and the economic transformation of a developing economy. He applied his theory to explain China’s rapid growth since 1978, changing from a production economy to an innovation economy. His current research is extending the theory to managing product success, managing inflection point disruptions, sustainable growth strategy in a dynamic changing environment, and industries’ strategy responding to geopolitics disruption. Over the years he has made valuable contributions in the field of engineering, economics, and business creation and expansion. He has published over 180 papers on his research activities.
    From 2004- 2015, he co-directed various Stanford-China programs on regional industry and enterprise transformation that were attended by high level city officials from various cities in China and high level executives from Chinese enterprises. From 2007-2013, he co-directed a Stanford Financial Engineering Certificate Program in Hong Kong that upgrades the quality of managers and traders in the financial institutions in Hong Kong
    He was a co-founder and a Board member of Advanced Decision System (ADS), a technology company with emphasis on AI and advanced decision tools. The company was found in 1979 and later acquired by Booz Allen and Hamilton in 1991. In 1988, Verity was spun off from ADS with AI search engine technology developed in ADS to provide enterprise search software. He was a Board member of Verity representing ADS before Verity went IPO in 1995. From 2007-2010, he was a Board member of KBC Fund Management Co., Ltd.
