    BioDr. Jaquith is the director of the Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies (POLS) master’s program and lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. Through her scholarship and applied research, she is particularly interested in how (and under what conditions) diverse actors in the U.S. educational system can work together to bring about positive change, especially for marginalized and disadvantaged youth. She is the author of “How to Create the Conditions for Learning: Continuous Improvement in Classrooms, Schools, and Districts” (Harvard Education Press, 2017).     Current Research and Scholarly InterestsClinical interests include autonomic disorders, small fiber neuropathies and the development of effective methods of testing and treating these disorders. Prior work has focused on small fiber painful and autonomic neuropathies; syndromes of orthostatic intolerance and syncope; gastrointestinal motility dysfunction; cyclic vomiting; protacted Gastroesophageal Reflux; non-allergic rhinitis syndromes; and the relationship between the autonomic nervous system and normal or abnormal sleep. Additional areas of interest include the neurology of phonation and swallowing disorders, and peripheral nerve injury and repair.

    BioRecent years have seen unprecedented motivation for the emergence of new energy technologies. Global dependence on fossil fuels, however, will persist until alternate technologies can compete economically. We must develop means to produce energy (or energy carriers) from renewable sources and then convert them to work as efficiently and cleanly as possible. Catalysis is energy conversion, and the Jaramillo laboratory focuses on fundamental catalytic processes occurring on solid-state surfaces in both the production and consumption of energy. Chemical-to-electrical and electrical-to-chemical energy conversion are at the core of the research. Nanoparticles, metals, alloys, sulfides, nitrides, carbides, phosphides, oxides, and biomimetic organo-metallic complexes comprise the toolkit of materials that can help change the energy landscape. Tailoring catalyst surfaces to fit the chemistry is our primary challenge.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsMy laboratory studies conformational switches in evolution, disease, and development. We focus on how molecular chaperones, proteins that help other biomolecules to fold, affect the phenotypic output of genetic variation. To do so we combine classical biochemistry and genetics with systems-level approaches. Ultimately we seek to understand how homeostatic mechanisms influence the acquisition of biological novelty and identify means of manipulating them for therapeutic and biosynthetic benefit.

    BioDr. Praveen Jayapal is a board-certified radiologist and Assistant Professor of Radiology at Stanford University, specializing in body imaging for both adult and pediatric patients, with a particular focus on MRI. His clinical expertise includes fetal imaging and pediatric musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging. Dr. Jayapal's primary practice is based at 450 Broadway Pavilion B in Redwood City, where he is dedicated to serving the underserved community through the Conrad 30 program. His academic interests center on developing fast MRI techniques to improve access to high-quality imaging, especially in resource-limited settings.

    BioI am an assistant professor of political science at Stanford University where I am also a faculty affiliate with the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity and the Stanford Center for American Democracy. I received my PhD in political science from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and African American Studies from the University of South Carolina.

    My research focuses primarily on the role identity plays in structuring political attitudes and behaviors in the U.S. I am especially interested in understanding how stigma shapes the politics of Black Americans, particularly as it relates to group members’ support for racialized punitive social policies. In other research projects, I examine the psychological and social roots of the racial divide in Americans’ reactions to officer-involved shootings and work to evaluate the meaningfulness of key political concepts, like ideological identification, among Black Americans.

    My dissertation, "Policing Norms: Punishment and the Politics of Respectability Among Black Americans," was a co-winner of the 2020 Best Dissertation Award from the Political Psychology Section of the American Political Science Association.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Jeffrey led the multidisciplinary team from the Schools of Medicine, Engineering, and Genome Technology Center that invented the MagSweeper, an automated device that immunomagnetically captures live circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from cancer patient blood for single cell analysis or culture. Her lab also works on microfluidic technologies for tumor cell capture, characterization, and growth - with the goal of defining individual patient response to newer biologically-based cancer therapies.

    BioAs founder and principal of Every Museum a Civic Museum, Sarah Jencks works with museum leaders educators to help them articulate their authentic civic missions and see the possibilities for igniting and enacting the collective impact of museum education in schools and in our democratic republic. Recent and current clients include the National Park Service’s Chesapeake Gateways network, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, the Museum of the City of New York, James Madison’s Montpelier, the Barack Obama Foundation, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, King’s Chapel, Made By Us, Thinking Nation, Preservation Maryland, and the Lincoln Presidential Foundation. She believes that every museum can and should be a civic museum. Jencks serves as co-chair of the Educating for American Democracy (EAD) Community Learning Partners task force, serves on the Democratic Knowledge Project’s EAD Advisory Committee, and is a volunteer leader and frequent speaker for the American Association for State and Local History and the American Alliance of Museums. She is a visiting professorial lecturer with the George Washington University Museum Studies program. For almost 15 years, Jencks was founding Director of Education and Interpretation at Ford’s Theatre, where she oversaw school and teacher programs as well as interpretive strategy and digital and on-site exhibitions. She previously taught middle-school history, English, and theater. She serves on the boards of the National Council for History Education and Literacy InterActives and holds an M.Ed. in School Leadership from Harvard University Graduate School of Education and an A.B. in American Civilization from Brown University.

She completed her pediatrics residency at University of California, San Francisco and is board-certified in pediatrics. After practicing general pediatrics for two years, she returned to UCSF for neurology residency. Upon completion of her residencies, she joined the faculty at Stanford as a general child neurologist with a special interest in medical education.     BioBronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a common and severe complication of very preterm birth. Dr. Jensen’s research seeks to improve the long-term respiratory health of premature infants through: (1) clinical and translational studies that aim to develop evidence-based strategies to prevent and treat BPD; (2) novel characterization of disease severity and phenotypes in BPD; and (3) application of health services research techniques to investigate the association between hospital-level factors and neonatal morbidity and mortality.

    Dr. Jensen’s research is supported by grant funding from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), and the American Lung Association (ALA). He is a member of the International BPD Collaborative and the International Neonatal Consortium (INC) BPD working group.

    BioI am a professor of Biomedical Signal Processing at the Department of Health Technology (DTU Health), Technical University of Denmark (www.dtu.dk). My main interests are the application of digital signal processing to medical ultrasound, especially synthetic aperture imaging, vector flow imaging, super-resolution, GPU-based beamforming and implementation, and ultrasound simulation.

    I received the M.Sc. in electrical engineering in 1985, the Ph.D. in 1989 for work on deconvolution, and the Dr. Techn. degree in 1996 for my work on blood velocity estimation in the book: "Estimation of Blood Velocities Using Ultrasound, A Signal Processing Approach", which was published by Cambridge University Press in 1996. I have been a full professor at DTU since 1993, and I have been a visiting scientist at Duke University, North Carolina, Stanford University, California, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, all in the US. I became an IEEE Fellow in 2012.

    I have founded and headed the Center for Fast Ultrasound Imaging (www.cfu.dtu.dk) since 1998. Currently, I am a visiting Professor in the Department of Radiology at Stanford University, CA, USA, courtesy of Professors Katherine Ferrara and Jeremy Dahl, until August 2026. I will be working here on our super-resolution method, SURE, using the Stanford large-element arrays for the acquisition of clinical data. I am also writing a book on advanced ultrasound imaging, drawing on my 40 years in the field.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI am a clinical translational investigator with a primary interest in breast cancer biology, and the use of investigational and clinical ancillary techniques such as gene and tissue microarray analysis and immunohistochemistry in the diagnosis and prognosis of this disease. As a practicing cytopathologist, I also have an interest in improving the fine needle aspiration biopsy diagnosis of breast lesions, again using immunohistochemistry and gene expression analysis as adjuncts to cytomorphology.

    BioDr. Michael Jensen is a neurosurgeon at Stanford Health Care. He also serves as a clinical assistant professor and director of endoscopic spine surgery in the Department of Neurosurgery, Division of Spine Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Jensen specializes in endoscopic and minimally invasive spine surgery for degenerative conditions, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and spine-related pain, with experience in more than 2,000 procedures throughout his career. As Director of Endoscopic Spine Surgery at Stanford, he focuses on motion-preserving techniques that shorten recovery and restore function. He also employs advanced imaging and meticulous surgical planning to make spinal fusion safer and promote lasting healing. Dr. Jensen’s care philosophy emphasizes precision, collaboration, and open communication—ensuring that every patient understands their options and feels confident in their care.

    As a physician-scientist, Dr. Jensen focuses his research on improving the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of spine care. He has studied how cost-sharing policies, treatment timing, and prescribing patterns affect outcomes for patients with neck and back pain. He has also explored the use of machine learning and predictive modeling to guide clinical decision-making in neurosurgery. Currently, Dr. Jensen works with the Endoscopic Spine Research Group to improve patient pain control and functional recovery after endoscopic spine surgery.

    Dr. Jensen has presented his work at national meetings, including those of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Society of Lateral Access Surgery. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in journals such as The Spine Journal, JAMA Network Open, and World Neurosurgery. His research spans clinical care, health economics, and translational science, reflecting his commitment to advancing neurosurgical practice and improving patient outcomes.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsI am a clinical associate professor of pediatric gastroenterology and the Inaugural Medical Director of the Celiac Disease Program at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford whose clinical practice and research have an emphasis on the diagnosis and management of celiac disease. I was appointed the Director of Pediatric Clinical Research at the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center in 2014. I am deeply involved in both local community and national professional societies serving as the Director of the Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance (CCHA) endoscopy committee and am a member of the CCHA celiac committee, the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) celiac special interest group, CeliacKids (a pediatric multi-center celiac research focused collaborative), the Standards-Based Active Guideline Environment (a committee responsible for the establishment of guidelines for accommodating children with celiac disease within school settings across the United States), and the NASPGHAN Endoscopy committee. My clinical work and research focus on pediatric celiac disease (CeD) and have resulted in numerous publications, peer-reviewed articles, and book chapters. This research has also helped to establish myself as an expert in the field of pediatric celiac disease leading to invitations to speak and be a moderator at both local and national meetings, including the internationally attended University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center educational preceptorship programs, the NASPGHAN annual meeting and Beyond Celiac. I have additionally been called up to provide celiac specific journal reviews as well as expert opinions to leading publications, including US News and World Report, Reader’s Digest and Reuter’s. The current application builds logically on my prior work in the field of pediatric celiac disease for which I have successfully administered the projects (staffing, research coordination, budgeting, data analysis and manuscript creation). In summary, I have the expertise, leadership, training, and motivation necessary to successfully carry out the proposed research projects.

    BioMichael Jewett is a Professor of Bioengineering at Stanford University. He received his B.S. from UCLA and PhD from Stanford University, both in Chemical Engineering. He completed postdoctoral studies at the Center for Microbial Biotechnology in Denmark and the Harvard Medical School. Jewett was also a guest professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). His research group focuses on advancing synthetic biology research to support planet and societal health, with applications in medicine, manufacturing, sustainability, and education.

    Saumitra holds a BA from Williams College, master’s degrees in economics and mathematics from the University of Cambridge, and a PhD in economics from Stanford University. Prior to joining the GSB, he was an Academy Scholar at Harvard University. He has been a Center Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, as well as of the Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance and the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics at Princeton University. He was voted Teacher of the Year by the students of the Stanford GSB Sloan Fellow Class of 2020. He received the Michael Wallerstein Award for best published article in Political Economy from the American Political Science Association in 2014 for his research on ethnic tolerance and his co-authored work on Heroes was awarded the 2020 Oliver Williamson Best Paper Award from the Society for Institutional and Organizational Economics.

    BioI am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Science & Engineering at Stanford University. I earned my Ph.D. in Operations Research at Columbia University, advised by Prof. Agostino Capponi, and completed my B.S. and M.A. in Mathematics at UCLA.

    My research sits at the intersection of financial technology, market microstructure, and mechanism design. I study how financial markets function and how they can be redesigned for greater efficiency and fairness, with a particular focus on decentralized finance (DeFi) and blockchain-based trading. My work spans three areas:

    Market microstructure — analyzing trading behavior and designing better financial markets.

    FinTech and DeFi — examining how cryptographic tools and decentralized protocols reshape financial transactions.

    Incentives in financial technology — addressing misalignments that emerge in crypto-finance and proposing mechanisms that improve adoption and efficiency.

    I believe finance is a social science that benefits from active engagement with real markets. I work closely with both industry and regulators to ensure my research not only advances theory but also informs practice and policy in digital assets and financial technology.

    BioDr. Can "Angela" Jiang is a board certified family physician who enjoys caring for the whole family, from newborn care to geriatrics. She has special interests in women's health, adolescent health, pediatrics, and medical student education. She specializes in primary care procedures including gynecologic procedures.

    Prior to medical school, Dr. Jiang was a high school biology teacher in Chicago with Teach for America and loves combining her passions for teaching and medicine on a daily basis at Stanford Family Medicine. Dr. Jiang also teaches residents at the Stanford Health Care-O'Connor Hospital residency program and is the director of the O’Connor-Stanford Leaders in Education Residency Program (OSLER). Dr. Jiang is also passionate about community outreach and works with the Stanford Youth Diabetes Coaches Program.

    Outside of clinic, she enjoys hiking, reading, group fitness classes, traveling, and running after her two young kids.

    BioDr. Jiang is a board-certified, fellowship-trained laryngologist with Stanford Health Care. She is also a clinical associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, Division of Laryngology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Jiang completed a fellowship in laryngology at Stanford University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Jiang specializes in helping patients with all conditions affecting the throat and neck, including vocal cord disorders, hoarseness, chronic cough, and swallowing difficulties. She is skilled at treating even the most complex conditions using the latest techniques and advanced technology. Offering surgical and nonsurgical treatments, Dr. Jiang is passionate about tailoring each care plan to meet the needs of her patients.

    Her research interests include outcomes in vocal fold paralysis caused by intubation and from unknown causes (idiopathic). She also studies practice patterns of otolaryngologists in the United States. She has evaluated the effectiveness of in-person versus telemedicine care in otolaryngology and the disparities in speech therapy for voice disorders among English-speaking and non-English-speaking patients. Dr. Jiang has also explored how using a digital otoscope can reduce the use of antibiotics in children with ear infections.

    Dr. Jiang’s articles have appeared in many peer-reviewed publications, including Laryngoscope, Otology and Neurotology, and American Journal of Otolaryngology. She edited a chapter on gross and radiographic anatomy in Anesthesiology and Otolaryngology. She has also reviewed articles for Laryngoscope and Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology.

    Dr. Jiang has presented her research findings in the United States and Canada. She has been invited to speak at dozens of conferences about a range of topics affecting the ears, nose, and throat. She has served as principal investigator on many studies, including how using artificial intelligence can improve patient care and how to reduce opioid use following otolaryngology surgery.

    Dr. Jiang is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, the Society of University Otolaryngologists, and the American Broncho-Esophagological Association.

    BioDr. Shirley Jiang is a fellowship-trained, board-certified allergist and immunologist with the Stanford Health Care Allergy, Asthma, and Immunodeficiency Clinic in Atherton. She is also a clinical assistant professor of allergy and immunology in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.

    Dr. Jiang diagnoses and treats a wide range of conditions, including allergies, asthma, eczema, hives, and immunodeficiencies. She specializes in food allergies, medication allergies such as those to penicillin and other antibiotics, and chemotherapy allergies. For each of her patients, she offers a comprehensive care plan tailored to the individual.

    Dr. Jiang’s research interests include evaluating quality-of-life issues related to food allergies, with an emphasis on underserved populations. She is also working with her colleagues to build out and validate a novel chemotherapy desensitization program for patients with cancer who have allergic reactions to chemotherapy.

    Dr. Jiang has published her research in peer-reviewed journals such as Allergy, Frontiers in Immunology, The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice, and Clinical Reviews in Allergy and Immunology. She has also presented to her peers at international, national, and regional meetings, including the annual meetings of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI), the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI), and the Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Foundation of Northern California (AAIFNC).

    BioDr. Jiao is a fellowship-trained, board-certified neurologist with the Movement Disorders Center at Stanford Health Care. She is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences.

    Dr. Jiao has extensive experience providing comprehensive care for patients with different types of movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease. She is fellowship-trained in both movement disorders and hospice and palliative medicine. Dr. Jiao is developing an interdisciplinary neuropalliative clinic that emphasizes planning for the future and maximizes quality of life for people living with chronic neurological illness.

    Dr. Jiao’s research efforts include a pilot study assessing the impact of deep brain stimulation (DBS) as a treatment for Parkinson’s-related motor symptoms upon mood and pain. Specifically, this work focuses on identifying correlations between DBS targets and reductions in medications that address depression, anxiety, and impulsivity symptoms that result from Parkinson’s treatments. Dr. Jiao has also completed a pilot study focused upon narrative medicine interventions for people living with Parkinson’s disease.

    Dr. Jiao has published her work in multiple peer-reviewed journals, including Pain Medicine and the Journal of Neurosurgery. Dr. Jiao is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society , and the International Neuropalliative Care Society.

    BioTomás Jiménez is the Joan B. Ford Professor in the department of Sociology and Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity, and founding co-director of Stanford's Institute for Advancing Just Societies. He is also the director of the Qualitative Initiative in the Immigration Policy Lab. His research and writing focus on immigration, policy, assimilation, social mobility, and ethnic and racial identity. His latest book, States of Belonging: Immigration Policies, Attitudes, and Inclusion (Russell Sage Foundation Press) (with Deborah Schildkraut, Yuen Ho, and John Dovidio) uses survey data (with an embedded experiment) and in-depth interviews to understand how state-level immigration policies shape belonging among Latino immigrants, US-born Latinos, and US-born whites in Arizona and New Mexico. The American Sociological Association’s Population Section selected the book for its Otis Dudley Duncan Distinguished Book Award. His second book, The Other Side of Assimilation: How Immigrants are Changing American Life (University of California Press, 2017), uses interviews from a race and class spectrum of Silicon Valley residents to show how a relational form of assimilation changes both newcomers (immigrants and their children) and established individuals (people born in the US to US-born parents). His first book, Replenished Ethnicity: Mexican Americans, Immigration, and Identity(University of California Press, 2010), draws on interviews and participant observation to understand how uninterrupted Mexican immigration influences the ethnic identity of later-generation Mexican Americans. Professor Jiménez has also published his research in Science, American Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, American Political Science Review, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Social Problems, International Migration Review, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Social Science Quarterly, DuBois Review, Social Currents, Qualitative Sociology, and the Annual Review of Sociology.

    Professor Jiménez also researches immigration policy with Stanford's Immigration Policy Lab, directing the Lab's Qualitative Initiative to integrate qualitative and quantitative approaches in research to have policy impact. Current projects examine naturalization, refugee resettlement (with Pei Palmgren), and health and language access.

    In other lines of research, Professor Jiménez and Sofia Avila examine how immigration becomes part of American national identity by studying a sample of high school US history textbooks from 1930-2007. This research employs hand-coding and computer-assisted text analysis of the textbook sample.

    Professor Jiménez has taught at the University of California, San Diego. He was the Sigma Xi Distinguished Lecturer (2017-19). He has also been an Irvine Fellow at the New America Foundation and a Sage Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University (CASBS). He was the American Sociological Association Congressional Fellow in the office of US Rep. Michael Honda, where he served as a legislative aide for immigration, veterans’ affairs, housing, and election reform.     Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. John has extensive expertise in conducting population-based epidemiologic studies and has led as Principal Investigator multiple large-scale studies, including multi-center studies with a study site in the San Francisco Bay Area with its diverse population. Many of her studies and collaborations investigated cancer health disparities. Her research has focused on the role of modifiable lifestyle factors (e.g., body size, physical activity, diet), hormonal factors, early-life exposures, genetic variants, and gene-environment interactions; differences in risk factors by race and ethnicity, breast cancer subtypes, and prostate cancer subtypes; risk factors for familial breast cancer and second primary breast cancer, as well as prognostic factors related to survival disparities.

    As Principal Investigator, Dr. John has led a number of studies conducted in the San Francisco Bay Area, including:

    - the Northern California site of the Breast Cancer Family Registry, an on-going prospective multi-generational cohort of over 13,000 families established in 1995 at six international sites;
    - the San Francisco Bay Area Breast Cancer Study, a population-based case-control study in nearly 5,000 African American, Hispanic, and non-Hispanic White women that investigated the role of modifiable lifestyle factors and other risk factors;
    - the California site of the Breast Cancer Health Disparities Study that investigated genetic variability and breast cancer risk and survival in Hispanic and non-Hispanic White populations in the context of genetic admixture;
    - the Breast Cancer Etiology in Minorities (BEM) Study, a pooled analysis of risk factors for breast cancer subtypes in minoritized racial and ethnic populations;
    - the Northern California site of the WECARE Study that investigates risk factors for second primary contralateral breast cancer;
    - the Second Primary Breast Cancer Disparities Study, a pooled analysis of risk factors for contralateral and ipsilateral second primary breast cancer in a diverse population;
    - the San Francisco Bay Area Prostate Cancer Study, a population-based case-control study of lifestyle and genetic risk factors for advanced and localized disease.

    These studies collected and pooled extensive data and biospecimens and continue to support numerous ancillary studies, collaborations and international consortia and have contributed to a better understanding of cancer risk and survival in minoritized racial and ethnic populations.

    Dr. John is a founding PI of the LEGACY Girls Study, a prospective cohort established in 2011 that investigates early life exposures in relation to pubertal development outcomes, breast tissue characteristics, and behavioral and psychosocial outcomes in the context of having a family history or breast cancer.

    In 2023, Dr. John joined the Stanford investigator team of the MOSAAIC (The Multiethnic Observational Study in American Asian and Pacific Islander Communities) Study, a five-center study to improve health of American Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander populations.

    BioDr. John is a fellowship-trained cardiologist with more than 25 years of experience. He is a clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine.

    He originally earned board certification in clinical cardiac electrophysiology in 1996 and has continued to recertify. He also has earned board certification in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine.

    Dr. John diagnoses and manages all forms of cardiac arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation and ventricular arrhythmias. His special interests include catheter ablation for SVT, atrial arrhythmias, pacemaker and defibrillator implants, and lead extraction.

    He has conducted extensive research. He has participated in large multi-center clinical trials, including over 30 studies as a primary investigator of drugs, devices, and ablation techniques. He helped pioneer a new way to manage scar-related ventricular tachycardia. He also helped develop innovations in cardiac pacemaker technology.

    Dr. John has authored over 200 publications that include 126 original research papers. They have appeared in reputed journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Circulation, Lancet, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, European Heart Journal, Heart Rhythm, Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, and many more. Topics have included innovative, new techniques and technologies for the treatment of supraventricular arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, catheter ablation, lead extraction, cardiac pacing, and defibrillation.

    He was a member of the editorial board for Circulation and is currently on the editorial board of the publications Heart Rhythm Journal, Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology, Journal of Cardiac Electrophysiology, and Journal of Innovations in Cardiac Rhythm Management.

    Dr. John also has written several chapters for medical textbooks such as Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine, Zipes Textbook on Cardiac Electrophysiology - Cell to Bedside, Conn’s Current Therapy, Electrical Disorders of the Heart, Cardiac Mapping, and many more.

    He has made invited presentations to his peers at scientific sessions of the Heart Rhythm Society, American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and Heart Failure Society. He has delivered more than 60 national and international lectures. Subjects include cardiac pacing, defibrillation, heart failure, and arrhythmia management including catheter ablation for arrhythmias.

    BioAdam Johnson is a Professor of English with emphasis in creative writing at Stanford University. Winner of a Whiting Award and Fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the American Academy in Berlin, he is the author of several books, including Fortune Smiles, which won the National Book Award, and the novel The Orphan Master’s Son, which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize.     BioLeigh works closely with the faculty co-directors and staff to implement the institute’s vision and strategic direction. She manages a team who supports the energy research, education and outreach mission of the institute and Stanford broadly. The institute serves as the hub for over 200 faculty across the university who conduct energy research, students from Stanford’s seven schools, and staff from energy programs and centers across Stanford. Outreach activities engage stakeholders from industry, government and non-governmental organizations, academia and the Stanford alumni community in an energy ecosystem. Activities that serve this broad constituency include several annual conferences, topical workshops, student programs and the weekly Stanford Energy Seminar.     BioDr. Tyler Johnson--a clinical associate professor of medicine and oncology at Stanford University Medical School--is a physician, author, educator, and humanitarian. A medical oncologist, Dr. Johnson sees patients with all types of gastrointestinal malignancies and particularly focuses on patients with neuroendocrine tumors, colon cancer, and pancreas cancer.

    Dr. Johnson served for many years as a leader of the Stanford Hospital in-patient oncology services and helped launch the hospital's first direct care inpatient service, med 12. He is also responsible for helping respond to the surge of patients that came with the pandemic and its aftermath.

    Dr. Johnson views the practice of medicine largely as an educational endeavor. He directs the Stanford University Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program and spends significant time teaching trainees at levels. To that end, for many years he has taught medical students, residents, and fellows—including hosting them as temporary and longer-term apprentices in his oncology clinic and working with them on the inpatient housestaff oncology service. He emphasizes diversity and inclusion in his mentoring efforts and has worked to promote the professional development of medical trainees across the training spectrum--from undergraduates to oncology fellows.

    The winner of multiple Stanford Medicine teaching awards, Dr. Johnson has established himself as a regional and increasingly as a national leader and innovator in the education of oncology fellows, including by developing novel teaching methods that have been presented across the country, including at national meetings. He also works as one of the principal faculty members of the Stanford Educators-4-CARE program.

    Dr. Johnson and his co-host, Henry Bair, became concerned about the loss of a shared sense of meaning in the medical profession and, together, have taught multiple classes in the Medical School and, in the spring of 2022, founded The Doctor's Art podcast. Since then, the podcast has become one of the most listened to medical podcasts in the world and has won multiple national awards, making it one of the most lauded and most popular medical podcasts.

    Finally, Dr. Johnson is an author with a growing reputation for insightful analysis of the intersection of medicine, ethics, and spirituality. His writings has been featured by Religion News Service, the Salt Lake Tribune, BYU Studies, Dialogue, and The San Jose Mercury News, where he is a regular contributor.     BioDr. Nidhi Johri spent her childhood experiencing various cultures, languages, foods and living styles because of her father's job postings in different parts of India. After passing her medical exam in India, she gained admission into the prestigious Lady Hardinge Medical College (in New Delhi), which was one of the top ranked medical colleges in India.

    In medical school and clinical rotations, Dr. Johri liked helping patients cope with chronic diseases and provided comprehensive adult care, while forming long-term relationships with patients. She participated in various volunteer experiences that enhanced her knowledge of public health issues. In addition, she was responsible for the health and social welfare of a family living in a slum settlement. She took care of health issues such as anemia and dealt with other social problems facing the family. Moreover, she learned about community health issues by working in local epidemics.

    After getting married, she moved to the U.S. and pursued residency in University of Southern California in the field of Internal Medicine. She also worked as a researcher in the Stanford-Veteran Affairs Gastroenterology department.

    Before joining Bay Valley Medical group, Dr. Johri worked in Kaiser Permanente (Petaluma) as a primary care physician. Over the period of five years at Kaiser, she had build strong relationship with her patients while providing excellent care to her patients. She was greatly admired and appreciated by her patients. Due to her husband's job in South Bay (Area), she decided to leave Kaiser Petaluma and join the esteem group of doctors at Bay Valley Medical Group. In addition, Dr Johri has a special interest in obesity medicine and helps her patients with weight management. For her patients, she believes in being not only their doctor but also a friend.

Norton & Co. Jordan has been awarded a Whiting Writers Award, an Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, and a Pushcart Prize. He is also a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship (2007), a United States Artists Fellowship (2009), and a Lannan Literary Award in Poetry (2015). His latest collection, When I Waked, I Cried to Dream Again, winner of the 2024 Hurston Wright Legacy Award, and a finalist for the 2024 Rilke Prize, was released in 2023 (W.W. Norton & Co). Among his many academic appointments, he most recently served as the Robert Hayden Collegiate Professor of English Literature at The University of Michigan, before coming to Stanford University, where he currently holds the Humanities and Sciences Chair in English Literature, and where he also serves as part of the inaugural faculty in the Department of African & African American Studies.

    BioFelipe Jornada's research aims at predicting and understanding excited-state phenomena in quantum and energy materials. In order to make reliable predictions on novel materials, he relies on high-performance computer calculations based on parameter-free, quantum-mechanical theories that are developed in his group. He is interested in studying fundamental aspects of these excitations – their lifetimes, dynamics, and stability/binding energies – and how they can be engineered in novel materials, such as nanostructured and low-dimensional systems. His ultimate goal is to use insights from atomistic calculations to rationally design new materials with applications in energy research, electronics, optoelectronics, and quantum technologies.

    Felipe received his Ph.D. degree in physics from UC Berkeley in 2017 under the advice of Prof. Steven G. Louie. His Ph.D. research focused on the prediction of the electronic and optical properties of new quasi-two-dimensional materials, such as graphene and monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides. In his postdoc, he studied a number of problems related to multiparticle excitations in low-dimensional materials, including biexcitons and plasmons. Felipe joined the Stanford faculty in January 2020 and an assistant professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

    BioNeha S Joshi, MD MS is an Instructor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Stanford University. Her clinical responsibilities include caring for hospitalized children at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford as a board certified Pediatric Hospitalist, and neonatal resuscitation and the care of level I/II late preterm and term newborns as a Neonatal Hospitalist. Dr. Joshi completed her MD with Distinction at the University of California San Francisco, followed by both residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Stanford University. Dr. Joshi additionally completed a Masters in Clinical Research and Epidemiology at Stanford University. Her research program seeks to identify and implement high value care practices for late preterm and term infants during the birth hospitalization. Dr. Joshi's prior work has included the development of a clinical examination-based approach to identifying late preterm and term infants at risk for early onset sepsis; this work won the Jennifer Daru Memorial Award for manuscript with most potential to impact clinical care. Her current focus is the development of clinical benchmarks and quality markers for the care of late preterm infants during the birth hospitalization. Dr Joshi is presently supported by a NIH K23 Career Development Award, the Stanford Maternal and Child Health Research Institute, and the Society for Pediatric Research.

    Current Research and Scholarly InterestsDr. Joshi's teaching and research focuses on increasing knowledge and effectiveness of school mental health, youth wellbeing, positive psychology, pediatric psychotherapy and medication interventions. Areas of study include: the therapeutic alliance in medical care, structured psychotherapy interventions, cultural issues in pediatrics, wellbeing promotion and suicide prevention in schools settings, and faculty development in graduate medical education.
