Mark Kemp
Senior Scientist, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory
BioAfter joining SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in 2008, Dr. Kemp was an engineer in the Power Conversion and Electrodynamics Departments. Recent activities have included serving as manager of the developmental engineering section, project manager of the SLAC P2 Marx, and technical lead on several pulsed power and RF source projects. He is presently a Senior Staff Scientist at SLAC and is PI on two DARPA funded projects in neutron source and VLF technologies. He is also the Project Manager for a DHS funded project for a high average power linac. He is PI on a DOE funded project for next-generation high efficiency RF sources. He has also served as co-instructor for several years at the US Particle Accelerator School. He has published more than 80 journal and conference papers and has 3 patents.
Dr. Kemp was the treasurer of the 2012 IEEE Power Modulator and High Voltage Conference (IPMHVC), Technical Co-Chair of the 2014 IPMHVC, and General Chair of the 2016 IPMHVC and he currently serves on the executive committee. He is a Senior Member of IEEE. -

BioAs the Judaica and Hebraica curator, I select and collect material by or about Jews, in any format (from manuscript fragments to Israeli Yiddish theater posters and spiral-bound community cookbooks), in any language, produced anywhere. I also collect material written or performed in Jewish languages (Hebrew, Yiddish, Judeo-Arabic, Ladino, etc.) about any topic. I work with faculty and students to help them find the materials they need for their research and teaching.

Ali Keshavarzi

BioAli Keshavarzi, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Professor in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. Ali is involved in scholarly research and is an advisor to Stanford SystemX IoE Research (IoE = Internet of Everything). Currently Ali is a DARPA program manager in Microsystems Technology Office (MTO) defining impactful research frontiers in microelectronics. Ali is working on Software Defined Hardware (SDH) Program and on Foundation Required for Novel Compute (FRANC) Program while defining new concepts to push research forward on the technology, computing architecture, and data-centric application domains. Before his current role at DARPA, Ali was working with DARPA as an advisor and subject matter expert on the Electronic Resurgence Initiative (ERI). Ali is a member of DARPA MTO Investor Working Board (IWB) and the Embedded Entrepreneurship Initiative (EEI). Ali is a principal and the founder of Leading Edge Research LLC, Los Altos, CA.
Ali is a technology visionary and a leader who has been at the forefront of technology innovation with a track record of delivering critical process technologies, devices, circuits, SoCs, and modules to the semiconductor industry. Ali was the Vice President of R&D and a Fellow at Cypress Semiconductor and held various positions at Intel, TSMC, and GLOBALFOUNDRIES in a variety of technical and leadership roles over 25 years. Ali was a visiting research professor at UC Berkeley from 2017 to 2018.
Ali is an IEEE Fellow. He has over 60 U.S. patents, over 70 peer reviewed papers, has received best-paper awards and the best-panel award at ISSCC, most paper citation awards from DAC and IEDM. He has served in TPC of IEDM and ISSCC and has been the general chair of ISLPED. He received the prestigious Intel Achievement Award (IAA). Ali was awarded a distinguished Outstanding Electrical and Computer Engineer (OECE) of Purdue University.

He is the Founder and Medical Director of the Mind Study Center in Pasadena, California—an integrated mental health clinic offering psychotherapy, medication management, neuropsychological evaluations, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). His clinic emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, clinical excellence, and innovation in care delivery.
Dr. Khachi serves as Adjunct Clinical Faculty at both Stanford University and the University of Southern California (USC), where he teaches and supervises child psychiatry fellows and residents. He is passionate about education and mentorship, and is committed to advancing the next generation of clinicians.
Dr. Khachi completed his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Stanford University, where he served as Chief Fellow. He completed residency in General Psychiatry at UC San Diego, received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and earned his B.S. in Biochemistry–Molecular Biology from UC Santa Barbara. His additional training includes research fellowships at UCSF and the NIH/Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
